The new bootrom 3gs is the ONLY iPhone to have a "signiture" within the firmware. For those who don't realize, FIRMWARE is different from OS version. FIRMWARE is the bootrom, OS version is 3.0, 3.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 3.2, and so on.
This is NOT true. Everything in this paragraph is wrong.
1) All 3GS phones, regardless of bootrom, must have their firmware signed by Apple when restoring or upgrading. The only difference between the old and new bootrom 3GS is that the new bootrom does not contain the 24Kpwn exploit which is currently the only publicly-released way to create an untethered jailbreak.
2) Your terminology is all wrong. When discussing the iPhone and iPhone jailbreaking, firmware does, in fact, refer to iPhone OS version. While it is true that the bootrom is technically 'firmware,' it is
always called the "bootrom" and
never called "Firmware" to differentiate it from the OS version. Likewise, the "modem firmware" stored on the SGold chip is called "baseband" to differentiate it from the iPhone's other firmware. To sum it up for you:
Firmware = iPhone OS version (3.0, 3.0.1, 3.1, 3.1.2, or 3.1.3)
Bootrom = iBoot version (359.3 or 359.3.2)
Baseband = Modem Firmware (04.26.08, 05.11.07, or 05.12.01)
There may NEVER be a jailbreak for the new boot rom 3gs for 3.1.3. ...It was stated everywhere that once upgraded to 3.1.3 you will NEVER be able to downgrade or jailbreak.
This is also false. There are now two known exploits for 3.1.3 which can be used to create an untethered jailbreak for both old and new bootrom devices. One of these, "Spirit," is already being worked into an end-user jailbreak utility by a combined effort of the Dev Team, ChronicDev Team, and its discoverer Comex. This tool will work for any 3GS device on 3.1.3 and even on the iPad running 3.2.
No offence but this thread is quite useless and is a repeat of every noob's question. Sorry, but we are all laughing at you.
No, we are all laughing at
you and your comically uninformed rant against "noobs" who don't know what they're talking about. Those who live in glass houses, as they say...
