January 27" iMac Orders! (Those ordered in January)

Ok, so according to my credit card company, Apple took my money first thing this morning (California time), but there has been no change to my order status. As I ordered way back on the 6th I'm confident that this isn't a phantom charge to test the card. My question for those of you who have been eagle-eyeing your bank/cc accounts for signs of action is: How long has it typically taken for your order status to change from 'processing' once Apple has taken your money?

Ordered 9/1
Card charged 24/1

But others haven't been charged until after shipping notification. Maybe it makes a difference if its a debit card or credit card.

Fwiw i used a debit

My order has shipped and Apple haven't taken the money out yet! I've just checked again this morning. I've paid using direct debit as well. Maybe they haven't left china yet because I still haven't had my tracking info from UPS or FedEx (which ever the UK use)

It looks like we're waiting on the same build (i7, 1tb fusion, 8gb, 675mx) so now I'm curious to see if our machines end up preparing and shipping at similar times.

There's another poster here ordered on same date. Very similar spec ( only GPU different) and lives 30 miles away from me. So we will see 🙂
 
  • 12/28/2012 - ordered Base iMac 27" + 1TB Fusion (wire transfer)
  • 1/7/2013 - order status change to "processing ...", payment accepted. Delivery 05 Feb, 2013 - 12 Feb, 2013
  • 1/28/2013 - order status change to "preparing to ship", exactly 3 weeks after accepting payment
  • 1/29/2013 - shipped (16h after "preparing ..")
  • 1/29/2013 - recived TNT tracking number (12h after "shipped")
    Current status: "Pudong International Airport - Shipment Received At Tnt Location"
According to TNT, it will be delivered 2/5/2013 (according to spreadsheet it *should* be day or two sooner)
 
I've checked the local Apple store on three separate occasions, they are consistently reporting being sold out of the 27" iMac in all configurations. Ah, the joys of living next to a major university! 🙂 I'm twelve days into the order waiting game so I'm just going to stick it out. It's been a number of years since I had a powerful desktop - really looking forward to coding on this new device. Especially multithreaded programs on the Core i7 processor!
 
With a few other early Jan UK orders moving to "Preparing" I was hoping my 8th Jan order would move today, but nothing so far.... 🙁

The wait continues!!
 
I will also add my imac to the spreadsheet. I ordered a 2.9 i5, 8GB 1TB fusion drive, with magic mouse on Jan. 13th....My order is still at processing and expected delivery date is Feb. 11-19. I thank everyone on this forum as this has made the waiting game alot easier in recieving my first Mac!
 
My 27" 3TB (all other specs are standard) just arrived!!! I'm writing this post on it 🙂 Hang in there everyone, it's definitely worth it!
 
Still no change for my order. I am hoping with tomorrow being the 3 week mark it will change but I shall not hold my breath.

I am guessing it will not happen till the weekend. Last weekend we had orders from 6/7/8 Jan change (I am only taking UK into account) and I think this weekend should bring through 9/10/11 orders. I could be totally wrong here. Infact, I probably am.

I just need/want my iMac. It is crazy to believe that spending the good side of £2k could result in sheer frustration and desperation for people.

People who used a Credit Card, when exactly did the charge for you iMac appear? 🙄

I ordered on the 6th, but did not see a credit card charge until early morning on the 28th. I haven't seen any change to my actual order though. Still processing.
 
Out of boredom and interest I rang apple to see if they could tell me any different. The rep told me to most probably expect it towards the later date of expected delivery for me which is 13th Feb due to the amount of orders they have had.
Contradicting what others have said on here. 😕

I need to switch off from thinking about this thing as it is driving me insane. At least I can stop checking my CC now seeing as it won't charge till dispatch.

I ordered from Macmall 1/15/2013

27" 3.4GHz
8 GB Ram
1TB SATA Drive
GTX 680MX 2GB video card
Track pad
numeric wired keyboard

I just chatted online with Macmall rep and was told they expected that configuration this week. I think that means shipped to them first, then to me.
Hopefully I will get it next week.

and I was told the exact opposite and called them today also.

also going insane.
 
Just FYI, I was in the SF Apple store on Market last w/end and was checking out a demo machine with the exact same spec as the one I've ordered (27", i7, 1TB Fusion, 680MX, 8gig) when a blue-shirted tech wanders over to ask if he can help. I explain that I've ordered the precise same model, BTO, which delivers mid-Feb (I ordered 14th Jan) so I'm checking a few things out. Anyway, the dude says "if you want to cancel your order, I have one of these in the back and you can take it away right now". Sadly, I had to explain that I'm from the UK and it might be a bit tricky sneaking the big triangular box through customs, let alone wedging into into the overhead bin. Imagine if that fell onto your head 😱

Just thought I'd mention it for any of you in the Bay Area.

Your timing was better than mine. I stopped at the same Apple Store on Market and they didn't have any. At this point I'll just wait...should be here soon.

It's funny that you say they are expecting this configuration this week. Because I placed my order on January 10th, for the SAME exact configuration, and I've been having a feeling that my order will go to Preparing For Shipment and then Shipped this week, because of all the information I've compiled. Between Apple telling me they are about a week ahead of schedule, and people's orders that were placed on the 7th, 8th, and 9th, going to Preparing For Shipment or Shipped last week. Maybe Apple tries to group a bunch of builds with the same configuration into the same timeframe? I don't know, I doubt it. But still, it just seemed interesting that you mentioned this week for them getting theirs and I've been expecting about the same time. God willing, it will be true..

I too ordered on the 10th. I've noticed that that most of the orders are preparing/shipping 3 weeks to the day of ordering. I really don't see how that is one week earlier than predicted as some Apple reps have claimed. I can't stop checking my order page, it's getting a bit ridiculous 😛.

3 weeks to the day, for me, is tomorrow.
i hope you are right. I have made my own updates to the spreadsheet, 😛
