Ordered Jan 11
27" I5 3.2
1tb fusion
680mx 2gb
magic trackpad & numeric keyboard

delivery estimate Feb 8-15th
as of Jan23 still in "Processing"

So I checked my status and it changed to awaiting payment. Unfortunately that will have to wait till Friday since I'm just short of the amount. Still very exciting to see movement.

Approximately two hours ago, my order from 1/6 changed to preparing for shipment! That would be about 36 hours after my credit card was charged. If I thought the anticipation was hard before, it's going to be insane now. There goes my productivity for the next few days. ha! :D

For those trying to read the tea leaves, here is the build I've been waiting for:
3.4 i7, 8gb, 1tb fusion, 675mx, trackpad, wireless kb

Just pulled the plug!!!!!!

I just ordered my FIRST iMac ever. 27" i7. I didn't get the fusion drive or the upgraded video card. I am on a budget. I am a teacher:) I will be using my new iMac for CS5 work in windows 7. Due to arrive first week of March. I can't wait...

I too ordered on the 10th. I've noticed that that most of the orders are preparing/shipping 3 weeks to the day of ordering. I really don't see how that is one week earlier than predicted as some Apple reps have claimed. I can't stop checking my order page, it's getting a bit ridiculous :p.

I know. It is getting a bit ridiculous. People's orders who ordered on the 8th and the 9th were going to Preparing For Shipment last week, or on the weekend, so I was hoping that mine might do the same on Monday or Tuesday. Well, no luck... BUT, the good news is, I called Apple, to try and get a little more info out of them, and see if maybe they could tell me something that isn't generically put up on our Order Status pages, and she couldn't. So I explained to her that I'm a member on the MacRumors forum, and people who ordered on the 8th and 9th were reporting that their orders were being Prepared and Shipped, and that mine should or might be next, theoretically. She then said "You know what, I'm going to make the wait a little easier on you. Lets see here... Do you have a thumb drive?" and I said "Well, yes, not here though it's at the house." (because I thought she was talking about a USB drive, and I thought she was going to have me download something like Apple's official order shipment queue or sometime.) So she said "No, hold on a second.... A USB SuperDrive, that's what I'm talking about." So I said "Oh, I see, no, I don't have one yet." And she says "Well, how about this, I'm going to go ahead and add one to your order, free of charge." Needless to say I'm pretty pleased with Apple's customer service. I mean, what other company will give you an $80 piece of equipment as compensation for a frustrating weight. Even though my estimated delivery dates are still about a week away. She took the extra effort to actually make a customer happy..... People (PC people) usually always say, "You are overpaying for a product, blah blah blah." and such, and this recent good will gesture on behalf of Apple is ANOTHER reason, on top of their product quality, design and such. Any other company would have probably said "Oh, well we ARE sorry to hear that sir, but your delivery dates haven't yet come.", and probably would have been a little smug and snotty. MAN I love Apple! Now I don't have to pay $80 for a USB SuperDrive, pretty cool..

------------------

EDIT: Well, at least now I can say that my Order Status section does in fact say "Preparing For Shipment". BUT, before anyone get's too excited, it's for the freebie USB SuperDrive. LOL. It's going to kill me seeing that at the top of the page every time I load the page to check the status.....

I hear ya...I already have my gift from Apple sitting on the desk where the 27 is supposed to go. That's why I'm not gonna make a fit about waiting so I don't jinx it now with getting a weird fan noise or yellow stained screen. It's just something out of my control at this point, so here's to hoping for a preparing for shipment soon. And I'm a ordered on the 14th person...waiting for the early teens orders to start shipping... :)

Preparing for shipment

I have two ordered as follows:
The first is a gift for my mother and after ordering hers I got the fever and sold my late 2009 iMac 27" and ordered for myself the second one listed. I have already ordered 32 GB memory from Crucial for my iMac.

Whew. . . Another one closer to my date of Jan 15th, and I have the same date for delivery as the ones on the 12th, , which is Feb 11-19 so if theirs is preparing , mine could go any day but most likely after this weekend.

FedEx site still has my iMac in transit since early Tuesday morning...from Shanghai. I know (i think) there's a flight going from Shanghai clear to Memphis, TN. Would this be right? Been about 20 hours since it started traveling.

Well. See, now I don't want to hear anymore crap from Apple saying that they "build and ship them in the order received". Because this proves it's absolute bull. BUT, the positive is, hell, if one ordered AFTER mine is Preparing For Shipment, then mine HAS to be soon. Good to see another person's January 10th order is preparing to ship too.

Nevermind. The site just now updated to arriving in Memphis so yep, was the loong flight I'd thought.

I was charged as soon as my order was placed. I used my debit card, will that charge fall off after a few days and be charged again once it ships?

They usually only pre-authorize payment (much like say, a Blockbuster membership for $1 when you signed up). Then they'll make the real charge when the item physically ships. I dunno about Debit cards though seeing as I never knew they could be used. >.<

There may be issues of component shortages that affected some peoples delivery times. I could totally be wrong but it seems like many who are having long waits ordered the 3gb fusion drive on the high end model. Maybe there was something about that particular combination that had higher than expected demand. Just a wild guess.

So as my weather alarm wakes me right before this lovely severe weather is about to strike I check my order status, which I can VERY happily say it is now preparing for shipment!

Well, I did see that people who ordered theirs configured with the 3TB Fusion Drives had a bit of a delay. But if they have the components for Fusion Drives they have mine. I only selected a 7200rpm HDD.

No offense. But WHY. That is my exact order and I ordered 3 days before you.

I feel like crying!

I'm curious. It's seems like those that haven't been shipped compared to those that have on the same exact date are from different countries or using a reseller?

What is up with this clearance delay?! ARGH! I just want my iMac already. Estimated arrival date is on Thursday. I'll be pretty unhappy if this delays it more. Maybe Apple can help somehow.
