Is there anyone who will not watch Conan only because he's on FOX?

I must wonder.

I'm sure there are crazy radicals people out there who avoid something as trivial as a TV comedy show just because of the channel it is on.

I dislike CNN but i still watch Anderson Cooper.

What if Leno says he won't take his old job back because it's not fair to Conan? Won't it be the most genius marketing move on Leno's part? Then, now, he can do whatever he wants to do in any network. (Unfortunately, Fox is the only choice currently out there.)

Nevertheless, if Leno says no thanks to NBC and moves to FOX and compete with Conan and Letterman, he will probably be No.1 again INSTANTLY. He could start a whole new legacy in late night talk show business with his name.

In opposite, if Leno takes his old job back, it will stigmatize him forever and many people will turn their backs on Leno for a long time.

Doubtful. You're making it too personal. Most viewers don't even know or care about the drama that's going on at NBC.

The one benefit to this round of the Late Night wars is Leno, Conan, Letterman, Kimmel and Ferguson have been on fire. They're more interesting this week than they have been in years — particularly Conan and Letterman.

Conan is having his best shows this week since he took over the Tonight Show, he is not holding back and just letting it all out.

Man, what a monumental mess for NBC, they should have never changed the hosts

. Both of the shows were doing very well for NBC.

I don't know about that - this has been a huge story on the news, in papers, even on other talk shows - I think plenty of people know and care.

Jay and Conan's ratings have nearly doubled since this whole mess started, which means someone is paying attention.

TMZ reporting Leno has struck a new deal with NBC to return him to the Tonight Show.

Looks like Conan is gone.

I’m not surprised.
This just proves that Leno is a huge ass. I will never watch his show ever again.

Conan O'Brien's last night as host of The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien will likely be next Friday, a source close to O'Brien tells PEOPLE.

"Conan does not currently plan on doing any more new shows after next week,” says the source.

According to NBC, a pre-scheduled hiatus for the program starting on Jan. 25 has been on the calendar for months.

I think Letterman wil side with Coco. Hope he comes back to NYC!
Letterman has already sided with Conan. If he goes to Fox good chance he stays in LA. Plus I don't think he wants to move his whole staff again.

It's TMZ so who knows.

Leno and NBC Strike 1 Hour Tonight Deal

Jay Leno has made a new deal with NBC, which gives him "The Tonight Show" from 11:35 - 12:35 ... sources tell TMZ.

As we first reported, under the contract Jay had been working under, he was guaranteed the 10 PM hour. By moving him to 11:35, NBC was in breach of his contract and needed to negotiate a new deal. That is now done, sources tell TMZ.

So Conan O'Brien is out, and Jay is restored.

Letterman should have Conan as a guest the night after his last show.

That would be killer.

This essentially sets Leno up to keep The Tonight Show as long as he wants. It’s not like Jimmy Fallon will ever take it over.

I really think Leno and NBC screwed themselves, there is going to be so much backlash now. Conan's following is growing because of this.

Letterman already invited Jay and Conan on the show. I doubt either of them would show up.

Believe it or not, I'd read somewhere that NBC's long term plan was to transition Jimmy Fallon to The Tonight Show after Conan.

Maybe short turn. Give it a few weeks (months at the longest) and things will be back how they were. That's the nature of the fickle viewing public.

I find it rather funny that Leno/Conan is so polarized. People love one and hate the other almost unanimously.

Too bad for Conan though.

I really wish he would though. I think Jimmy Fallon is far and away the best of the late shows currently on. It is certainly the only one that I ever care to watch (I just wish it were not on so late and no I do not have a dvr).

Not to mention Letterman - there's not a whole lot of crossover between these three, so it would probably work out OK if they all competed in the post-news time slot.

EDIT: Somewhat related, I came across this interesting article in the Chicago Sun Times about how different Jay and Conan are:

LINK

It talks about how the staffs of the shows never got along before this rift, and how Jay's background is working class and he broke into the business by "paying his dues" doing stand up for years while Conan is Harvard Educated and upper-middle class, landing writing jobs on The Simpsons and SNL right out of school.

It would explain how their ratings breakup works, anyway: obviously Leno would get better ratings being an everyman, working-class sort of guy with traditional jokes while O'Brien would have more limited appeal with more cerebral, modern humor.
