So I got my unit today. Model starts with M. Same black retail box. Perfect edges. Week 39. Awesome.
How do you know which week your iphone was produced?

Just received my week 41 and its perfect no marks at all from the machining process.
So if you have the lines then it's defective.

Although I have a F2L (Week 37) that was faulty, my current one is also F2L (Week 39). My friend has had 2 F2M and both are fine. Week 39, 40.so i am now waiting for my second replacement. They have offered me a goodwill gesture of a free case too when I receive my replacement.
anyone know what serial numbers seem to be affected? Obviously this issue is down to the factory equipment. Both my original and first replacement had the serial starting with F2.
The start of the serial won't tell you much, only the factory it was made in - and all Jet Black Pluses seem to be from the same place.so i am now waiting for my second replacement. They have offered me a goodwill gesture of a free case too when I receive my replacement.

Hopefully you get a real defect OCD guy

Put your serials in sndeep.info/en for the devices you've had - what weeks are they?
I've managed to reserve one in the newly-refurbished Regent Street store for today - hopefully it will be of a week 40 or later manufacture as those don't seem to have it.
Mine has the marks and a hissing processor so the two together are enough for me to seek a replacement.
Just picked up a Week 41 model and it's great. Much, much better. Hopefully the machining teething problems have been sorted now.
Yes! I checked the serial before paying haha - if it was anything but a Week 41 I would've left it.praying my replacement is a week 41!

Had a really, really good experience at the Apple Store. I originally exchanged my 7+ Jet Black because of the machining issues. A white box replacement was sent. That replacement didn't have machining issues, but did have other problems (Apple Logo not flush, screen creaked and the phone hissed when playing/recording video). Apple rep said they'd contact me on Monday to see what they could do.Just picked up my Jet Black today , it's week 39 and signed up iUP and seems like i have this all around but not enough to care. I'll be trading it in next year anyways.

On a whim, I reserved a 7+ Jet Black Verizon phone last night thinking I had nothing to lose (had to go to the Apple Store anyway). So... they first agreed to accept the phone as a return outside the 14 day window. They also agreed to accept the phone as a return even though it was a white box replacement. To add some complexity, I bought the phone through the IUP on T-Mobile. They additionally agreed to bypass the Verizon activation lock, cancelled my previous IUP plan and started a new one. So I have a new Verizon phone using my T-Mobile account through the IUP. Possibly the best customer service I've experienced. And I know that crazy dude who says everyone is OCD is going to comment, which is fine - this is a $1000 device - I'm not okay with having a kinda/sorta 'fine' phone and I'm not okay with multiple white box replacements within the first month. Sure, I'm obsessive about my new phone, but I suspect the majority of people on Macrumors are, since we seem to find all the 'problems' no normal human being would even see/hear/etc.
Cool story bro.

Purchased the new and selling the old, probably for a small loss.Did you just return the old and purchase the new or did you speak to them and show them the one you wasn't happy with and then exchange it?
Original - week 40
Replacement - Week 39
My week 40 original only had this issue along the left side of the phone though.

Haha - don't set your standards too high, my new one isn't *flawless* - it still has it very very slightly down the sides - but it's a thousand times better than my original.I've just reserved a new one at Covent Garden for this afternoon. Wasn't bothered really and then i saw your images above... all your fault!!![]()
