Yep I bought a 14 camaro new and well.. of course I have bad luck n if ran into some slight "issues" -----
Yes, but a lot of people has this. Probably there's coming a fix soon that you can solve by yourself. This is the fact you need to deal with when you buy a jet black phone. Everything is shiny :p Mine has it aswell and I don't mind because my phone is working perfectly. I don't have hiss or any other issue. I have a perfect screen which is kinda rare if I see the screens of my friend's iPhone 7's. Mine is brighter then theirs and not yellow.

Then you should never buy a car.
Very true. I just bought a Golf R and had my Detailer here other the weekend and it had dealer inflicted damages to the paint. But thankfully, the imperfections were machine polished out. I was half tempted to ask him to look at my iPhone too lol.

Both my replacement perfect screens

I have a Jet Black 7 with the same problem. I am a Machinist, so I know what happened. The part deflected during the face milling process and there is "chatter" marks. Totally unacceptable IMHO.

I have another Jet Black 7 and its Flawless. It feels seamless from front to back. There is a tiny ledge, but the geometry of the screen prevents you from feeling it. The other one feels like theres an edge.

I'll get the Mittys out and get some measurements.

It seems this is on big scale. But still I will never return a phone for this, lol. I love my perfect working iPhone and I saw a lot of people on this forum who had a replacement with other issues. In my country people would call me sick if I replace an iPhone for this and they are right. It looks like people from an other continent are more babying stuff then Europeans.

I have this problem on my iphone 7 plus 256g, its not just on 1 side its on all 4 and when the light hits it looks haunting. Just wondering if this is purely cosmetic or will this be affecting the water seal? If it's just a look defect I can live with that.

My first phone week 38, with hissing on the back /static/video static. I tried various angles and couldn't get it to appear...

My second replacement white box from apple.. week 38... no noise from back of phone just the little white noise ish is there.... has the irregularity that you guys reported.. strange my first one I didn't notice it
Just received a week 38 replacement. Hissing is gone, mic is no longer broken, but half the phone still has this machining marks on the right side... half has it and has doesn't.. Nowhere near as bad as my first phone though

That's the thing, it isn't that noticeable in low light conditions. But in direct light, its extremely noticeable. Its like having a bunch of 3M on the side of the phone, at least in my case. Right now the options being provided to me are to return the phone. It seems no store has stock to exchange it for a new one, and Apple support claims they can't expedite a new one either. I am awaiting to hear from a supervisor who can hopefully correct the issue, as mine suffers from the that odd hiss as well.
Why not keep your phone and get a replacement before warranty is up? I've always gotten a mint replacement from the Apple store.

Oh man, that's a bummer! Mine was a week 39 replacement. Strange that you received an older unit.

That's how it should be. Your OCD gave you an even worse replacement. Now you have to live with it and you learn a lot about this.

No way this affect the water seal. It's just a cosmetic issue with the machine. I saw a very lot of iPhones with the "unboxing" movies with this. But ofc only this forum mention it as THE BIGGEST ISSUE ALIVE :)

Will you be asking for a second replacement?

Wow, either you fail to read, or are trying to be a huge troll. First of all, he is better off than before. Second of all, the thread only sees it as an issue. Not the "biggest" issue alive.

It was sarcastic, your reaction was a little bit "newbish". Atleast the real problem like hissgate is gone.

Sorry, it was indeed such a newbish behavior. Anyway.. My replacement phone is finally shipped. Can't wait to receive it. By the way, there's no indication that it is a refurbish unit so far. I'll know when I see it I guess.

I don't know what box I'm getting trill I received it, but apparently you can tell if it's refurbished based on your model number?
The model just tells you whether it's retail or white box stock, i.e. all white box stock will have a particular model number. Within that, some will be refurbished and some won't be. I would say right now we're still too early for refurbs to be around.

The model number will tell me if it's retail or white box, meaning M is retail, N is white box? Reference: https://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/Models

Can anyone who has gotten a 7/7+ replacement in a white box confirm?

Well, yes - but you'll obviously know whether it's retail or white box, because if it's retail it'll come in a retail box with all the accessories, and if its white box it'll come in a white box on its own with no accessories.

I've received the invoice from Apple though. The model number starts with M. Hoping for a retail box to arrive. :D Will know in about 2-3 days!
