Naked phone, no visible scratches or swirls.

I don't baby it, but I'm not careless with it either. I treat it like the (expensive) phone it is. I'm not going to carry it around on a satin pillow.

Today, I entered an appointment into the calendar with one hand, while walking my dog (holding his leash) and using my cane. I did use my Bluetooth headphones for the call, I'm not an idiot! ;)

If avoiding these so called micro scratches is babying then you must be having a field day wiping down the oil marks on your matte. That's equally annoying.

It's a phone, enjoy device. People are way too worked up over this. I'm sure mine has those micro scratches too. I don't inspect my phone to see if they are there and nor do I care. You can't see them so who really cares

Lol oil what. My matte is perfect and has no marks

Oh wait, no point in responding to MacTechnics.. Hes the guy whos been making dumb posts about the jet black scratching because ultimately he feels bad he got the matte when his gut feeling was to get the jet black!

EDIT: Just check his post history ;)

Not until I saw real pics and videos of the matte! Lol

Oh please. Your body has oils. I have the black dock. It keeps prints like no other.

Mmmm I'm pretty sure the JB is MUCH worse when it comes to fingerprints. You can actually see your fingerprint on it but not on the matte.

careful there with the matte black iPhone a.k.a slippery soapblock when using naked or go ahead, put your matte black iPhone in one those fugly cases out there...

Oh I use the Apple leather case. I like the metal button accents.

Never said it doesn't and it doesn't bother me one bit. I don't have OCD. I don't baby it. Was referring to him not wanting to baby a device. Sounds like he just wants to make himself feel better about his choice. Low maintenance on the other colors. Both blacks require some work if you have the need to keep it looking pristine.

I really don't understand why you would buy JB in the first place lmao.

I wouldn't. Not until Apple makes it more scratch resistant

Lol ok

wow! all that hassle about a few fingerprints... man, if I read this, the world is really coming to an end.

my advice: Google a good shrink and ask for any OCD solution

If you wear rings prepare for scratches

im 7 days deep with my Jet Black iPhone and literally 0 scratches. I carry my iPhone in my front left pocket without anything in that pocket (i wear skinny jeans, nothing else would fit, so I'm forced to use other pockets for wallet + keys) and I've placed it in jeans for several hours, I've also placed it in banana republic chinos for work where I tend to walk around a lot and move around a lot and there are 0 scratches.

Only blemishes are the fingerprints which I don't mind at all. I love the fact that i have the added grip if visible fingerprints is the tradeoff.

I exchanged a Matte Black 7 Plus for this Jet Black 7 Plus so I know how slippery the other colors are, I've also had a 6 Plus and a 6S Plus.

I welcome the added grip. It feels so much better in the hand (especially for people with pretty small hands like myself, I'm 5' 08), wish they would've made the other colors with this high polished aluminum or find some happy medium where the Rose Gold and Gold don't look tacky.

for context, i work at an office and I walk around a lot with my JB+ in my pocket and its not scratched up yet, 1 week in. SO BASICALLY, normal human activities like walking around, sitting, carrying your phone in your pocket, don't worry, you'll be fine, that won't scratch up the jet black.

This thread is now about ppl who have matte iphones who are salty that they werent able to purchase a jet black in time so now they try to find flaws that arent really there. Not only this, but link pictures where dirty people dont clean their hands and probably toss their iphone in their pocket with keys lol.

In fact, MacTechnics, I guarantee my Jet Black iphone will be cleaner than your matte black will ever be, not to mention the awesome grip that it brings. Have fun with your phone that has the same grip as a soap bar.

I've had my JB + for a couple of days now. 0 scratches. I love this phone

funny thing is, its mostly people complainting the jetblack iPhone's scratches ''within a day'', or ''scratch out of the box'' who not even own these jetblacks iPhone.....cause yeah, you know, its all over the internet, so it must be true

I have my jetblack now for over a week, have no visible scratches.

My advice: use common sense (f.e. no keys/coins in the same pocket as your iPhone), and you will enjoy the piece of design to the fulliest!

ow, and another thing, stop checking every single day 3 or 4 times if you can see scratches, just use the iPhone as intended (or maybe see a shrink ;) ):rolleyes:

(i have AppleCAre+ with this iPhone)

Same. Never care about scratches, visible or not.
The Jet Black comes with the grip I've been waiting for.
Have the black leather case whenever I prefer a leather touch.

Don't even have Apple Care+ with it.

I noticed today that my jet black has a shiny part on the antenna line above the camera as if the finish on the antenna rubbed off somehow.

I wouldn't go that far. I've been very careful with mine and I have no clue where these scratches on the bottom originated. I've been doing as others have been on this thread, in that I only place it on soft surfaces or a cloth and it's in a pocket all by itself. There are more than what the picture is showing as well, but all of them near the bottom of the phone.View attachment 661205
Most folks without cases claim they have no scratches but reality is that they probably either don't go looking for them well enough or not in the right light.

You'd find microscratches on the screen if you look in the right light too.

Some people were wrongly expecting it to be full of obvious scratches after a few days just like the mirror iPod Classic back, but the reports/pics here indicate otherwise.

This whole thing is overblown. I'm sure you must be disappointed as an alarmist who started a FUD thread.

I've got a few in the same spot... thing is though you can only see these scratches when you are looking for them. In normal light from a normal distance, the gloss, shine and smudge don't let them show. I expect it to be scratched, it's no deal breaker for me.

My theory though is that the camera cutout suspends the majority of the phone from the table slightly, except for the bottom side, which rubs against the table.

Love it overall, it oozes a certain classic Apple charm.
