Apple just needs to offer something that Facebook would value: give Facebook native integration in iOS and the social network will never be beat by any of its emerging rivals.

It's clear that Apple's iOS will lead the next phase in personal computer history. If Facebook is allowed to piggy back on it and Apple is able to piggy back on Facebook's success, both will win.

I like that idea.

I also like Ping, and am sure I'll like it even more with FB integration.

I've never been a fan of Facebook and would rather see Ping get better without the FB integration, but that's just my opinion.

I bet Steve had to swallow his pride to actually have to barter with a 26 y/o for something like this.

Wherever they went for dinner ... I am sure it wasn't for Costco hot dogs ...

I heard it was Ikea for their hot dogs and cinnamon rolls. Then they had their conversation in one of those staged rooms at Ikea.

I fail to see how age is relevant?

Based on your post however, you seem to be implying age is relevant in some condescending manner, in which case, I'd be interest to know your net worth compared to that '26 y/o.'

That 26 y/o has probably accomplished more in the last 60 days than you will in your entire life. Jealousy is ugly, ignorance is worse.

Chill out bro. The guy/girl was just saying that it is unusual for Jobs to have to strike an important business deal with such a young person. Zuckerberg has a larger net-worth than Jobs. Facebook also has the largest amount of members of any social website, which is a big deal to companies trying to market new products online.

Read the story... then post.

I'd think Steve would only need to pretend he was having dinner with his 26 y/o self and they'd get along great. They are more similar then different.

That must have been one awkward dinner, man.

For what it is worth, the story I was told is it was at Steve's favorite mid-town Manhattan Japanese restaurant and he made sure they had their sexiest waitresses only in kimonos and the strongest warm saki ready for Zuck.

Zuck came in and supposedly Steve just let him sweat. While Facebook has the numbers, Steve has the market helm. Zuck knows that Facebook could be roadkill just like Flash if he didn't play this right.

Looks like Zuck did well and won Steve's respect.

The next big thing in social media is integrating storefronts into these networks and not just adds. Apple has more of a foundation for this than anyone else right now. Wonder when that rook will move across the chessboard.

The question remains is how long before the next iPhone with next generation Ping causes an Exodus from Facebook.

I think it's really good that Steve Jobs took the time to meet and break bread with Mark Zuckerberg. Everything is not always war and corporate posturing.

People in these forums take things so personality. Here are two men who run two large companies who happen to live/work in the same town.

Maybe Steve is reaching out to Mark as a mentor (and remember a mentor is not someone who works for you or sits on your board).

As much as I admire him, Jobs *is* a smelly bastard too.

I dunno...Zuckerberg has a face like he went bobbing for French Fries. And anyone worth billions can certainly afford to dress in anything else but the finest Rayon that Wal-Mart has to offer.

Apple should just buy Facebook.

Would put them in awesome position to compete with Google.

Apple has more then enough cash on hand.....

A KFC in Palo Alto? Doesn't sound likely. Maybe Redwood City or EPA.

You know the fish taco place across from jack in the crack on el-camino? that used to be a KFC-a childhood friend and his family owned it.

I want to know what they ate-I mean Zucks is a glorified college student. Jobs is a cancer survivor who just had an organ transplant-I don't think pizza or anything heavy was on the menu
