Love it! :D

Agree 100% with SJ, it's a non-issue. I don't have dropped calls, slow data or ANYTHING bad happen when I hold my phone. I guess that might be because I'm not trying to get my signal to drop with a Vulcan death grip.

I was going to buy a bumper anyway so even if there was an issue it's no big deal. Get a life people and chill out. I'll tell you what, I'll trade a 3GS for an iPhone 4. Any takers? I thought so.

Customer is free to hold the phone even from behind if they wish so. Purpose of a phone is to make a call. Not to drop calls when being held properly.

This IS a non-issue. the 3gs bars were horrible, i4 is better, some idiot posts a you tube video and it blows up because of haters and rookie iPhone owners, go get a droid you posers

wow! haters? I own almost every Apple product but somewhere between the 3GS and the 4 I forgot how to hold a phone. Come on now!

Lol. You sign up to post that? Lets hope the brakes on your car or in your case, you're moped don't foul up. If they do, just push the brake differently. Maybe use your feet to stop instead.

Go away.

Look at the noob who joined this month talk about noob iPhone owners. I have had all of the iPhones since the 2g on day 1 of launch and this is by far the most disappointing product Apple has released since Steve took over.

I don't know about the rest of you but I sort of can't believe this is happening! I mean after all the excitement leading up the the launch it seems to have turned into a disaster over night. Really disappointing if this is not addressed properly.
The fundamental issue behind all this is that with Apple, all roads lead to THIN. It's Steve's/Jony's obsession with THIN products that necessitated this design flaw. The phone was so jam packed with components that there was no room left for the antennas, so they made the actual case the antennas.

Let's see what the thinness obsession has brought us so far...

- Desktop computers based on laptop components (iMac)
- Vertically oriented optical drives in iMac (a solution that Steve dismissed as undesirable during the Keynote where he introduced the 'lampshade' iMac G4)
- Chicklet keyboards
- Non-replaceable batteries in all mobile products
- A laptop that fits in a manila envelope, has no optical drive and only a single USB port
- A reliance on slot-loading optical drives which is the main reason why they have yet to go Blu-ray... slot loading BR drives are still ridiculously expensive
- A limitation of 32 GB storage on the iPhone 4 (most people took a bump to 64 for granted)
- Micro SIM
- The Magic Mouse, a mouse so thin it works better as a shaver than an actual mouse
- And now, a cellphone with antennas that are shorted by your hand(!)

(I'm not suggesting all of the above is negative... that's subjective).

The worst part is, they've painted themselves into a corner. Everyone will be expecting the next version of something to be thinner than the last, the thinness fix has become a mandatory part of Steve's Keynotes – but components really haven't gotten that much smaller in the last couple of years, instead the demand for more features and power has resulted in a need for more components and more battery capacity to match it.

Get your head out of your ass.

Look at the many, many videos that have been posted. We're talking about actual dropped calls and non-functoning data connections based on how you hold the phone, ffs.

There has never been such an unbelievably stupid issue in the industry before.

It's a cock-up of almighty proportions.

Wow man. Is the sky falling to? The guy you QUOTED was actually right and his response is the best I've seen. You made yourself look completely childish with your response to his intelligent and reasonable analysis.

Very sad day

I have had Apple products for several years now and have always thought they were some of the best products made. If this truly is Steve Jobs reply this is a very sad day. Ignoring that this is a problem and not providing a solution may be enough for me to jump ship to another phone and I NEVER thought I would say that. This is my second iPhone, I bought a 3G as soon as they came out. I had already planned on buying a bumper case but this attitude is more than I can take. Yes, I'm sure all phones have sensitive spots but this is the way I hold my phone all the time when I am doing something other than talking on the phone and it appears so does he. This is ridiculous. Come on Steve, wake up, you're going to run some of your best customers off if you keep this up.

Because of this issue? Or are there others?

I fixed it for you. More than one person is experiencing this issue. This is not normal, and I think every iPhone 4 has this issue, biut it depends on your location and your hand size. Major failure on Apple's part. iPhone=no phone calls for you buddy.

Steve's right this is a non issue being made into a big deal by haters and trolls. If you really aren't happy with the most amazing phone in the world then take it back and buy a POS Android phone. If This was a real problem then ther's no doubt in my mind that Steve would take care of it. He's never let us down before. Don't let the haters win, ignore them they're just jealous they can't afford a real phone because they're on welfare.

This gets my vote for post of the day! lmao

what a smug reply. did he really write that? i find it difficult to believe. easy response: "non issue, just avoid buying it"

what, are you 12 years old? it IS a real problem and passing it off as a non issue is how steve jobs is taking care of it. also, because you villainize apple's competition i'm absolutely certain fan boys like you have never even seen an Android phone, so just write about what you know, ok? in other words, stop writing.

Are you having issues with the phone aside from specific tests you preform from reading about the antenna , does it drop more calls, lose service more than the 3gs? cause mine doesnt.

next some one will post a video called..

OMG.. look what happens when i put my iPhone 4 in a lead lined box...
you try hard enough or go to certain areas you can lose service with any phone.

while i agree on alot of that i LOVEmy magic mouse :D

I only have the reception issue, and a bumper is not the answer... I have a case opened with a apple supervisor and he said he will contact me shortly and that they are aware of the issue. I am not going to hold my breath

I am sure over time apple will make right on this it just sucks that I have to use my headset to answer or make any call.

dont know how you guys hold your phone but this is my natural hand position when i'm making a phone call. i don't see these reception issues.

Your death vice grips are not a natural way of holding the phone while on a call

You guys have it wrong. I'm left-handed. You hold the iPhone in your right hand so you can use your left hand to point and tap. So it's not a problem for lefties after all.

I also tried it in my right hand to recreate the problem. It is literally not an issue to slide your hand up slightly so that you aren't touching across the band.

Also, my iPhone doesn't seem to have the issue anyway. Could just be that I'm holding it right. :)

It's as Jobs said, it's a non-issue.

Yes, dropped calls and internet connections that don't work based on the manner in which you hold a phone isn't a big deal.

He's right. I'm wrong. Thanks for clearing that up.
