Well I wrote to sjobs@apple.com and got a reply. So I'm not sure what you're asking?
So you say, but how was that proven.
So the rumor is that Apple is going to announce something later this afternoon about it. Let's wait and see what they have to say.
For the record: Bumpers, tape, nail varnish, etc. are not a "solution".
The product should work as sold.
Not in any DIY, fork-over-some-extra-$$$-for-accessories way.
Also, they're still WRONG by saying that. No matter what issues there are - literally no matter what - iPhone is still the best phone out there. No propaganda, and not fanboi crap. It's that good. ...and they're still using a lesser phone.
Have fun.
I don't even know what your posts means. And given that the emails in question were sent to me (I'm the original poster) my point was that he didn't have to reply. He didn't have to say there's no issue. Nor suggest I hold the phone differently. He chose to make those statements.
So for someone (previously in this thread) to say that perhaps he wasn't aware of any situation and that's why he responded to me is silly.
A CEO (granted not probably who responded) would hold off saying anything or perhaps even asking what specifically I meant rather than providing a "solution."
No. Steve Jobs and Apple as a whole are brilliant marketers. They choose their words VERY carefully. Anyone with any PR or Marketing savvy can tell you based on keynotes, press releases, videos exactly how savvy they are. Every move is calculated. So for a response to fly out of his email address like that was deliberate.
Why would Steve Jobs play dumb? Theres an issue with the phone currently. He gave you a work around.
Now, if you don't feel this is adequate, then by all means, walk to the Apple store, return your phone, and use something else. There are millions out there that would take your phone, reception issues included.

Is this issue being reported by people who picked the phones up in store yesterday? Or is it mostly people who pre ordered, Maybe the first batch just didnt have coating.
From the front page, read, then post next time.
"Update: This has been confirmed as an official statement from Apple."

Come on! Can't the French help this time too?![]()

Anyone with a half brain can spoof an email address to make it look like it came fom anyone else. My gosh I can send you a email from President Obama.
Well that CEO you speak of on his own blog needs to wake up to the new social media and tech world we live in. Because if he's publishing something that is available for PUBLIC consumption - it reflects on his company. Don't believe me? Think of all the twitter comments made by people on their accounts which have BLOWN UP in their faces. Blogs/facebook as well.
Unfortunate or not - if you want something private/personal - then put it in a place/lock it down where the general public doesn't have access.
If any CEO - let's say the CEO of Wal-Mart was at bar and speaking very loudly. I don't mean having a private conversation - but speaking loudly so that the whole bar could hear that he hates women. You don't think that the statement he made is legit to go public with?
A public blog - or the sjobs@apple.com email address is no different. Unfortunate (like I said) or not - there are new privacy boundries that need to be considered. And if you're the CEO (and frankly - WHOEVER you are) it's a lesson to be learned the hard way.
I deal with a lot of people in the entertainment industry. And I know very well how private matters/pictures/comments/etc - even when supposedly LOCKED down (let alone on their twitter/website/etc) can blow up.

I don't hate Apple. I think their products are really great innovations. As far as some of the videos showing holding the iphone in a death grip, that's unrealistic in real life. But there are many more videos/reports showing just normal finger bridging of the antennas causing total signal loss in just a few seconds. Will AT&T and Apple stores have to warn customers about holding the phone during the purchase process? That would be a disasterous PR problem.

Do you actually base your purchasing habits on whether or not the CEO is a nice guy? If the CEO of Wal-Mart said he hates women, do you really think that a MAJORITY of women would stop shopping there? I'm sure they would just form their own opinion of him and get over it. So if someone at Apple told you and others that its a "non issue", who cares? It obviously IS an issue if this many people are complaining about it. Steve Jobs and every other CEO can say whatever they want and it wouldn't sway my opinion of their product one way or the other. It takes more than one man to run a company. Complaining about the problem is one thing, but its pointless to complain about the email responses.
But they knew about it. They've probably known for ages. It's not an "oops" thing they're discovering just now. Unless the engineers who put the phone together were grade schoolers, they would've immediately identified the potential problem with this antenna design, but someone must've told them to build it like this anyway. The so-called bumpers are a pre-emptive strike against this problem (why else did Apple never bother to make cases for iPhones until now?). Steve's email response indicates that he was prepared for this becoming an issue - he did not use wording of someone caught off guard.I'm not Giving Apple/Jobs too much credit. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. For Christ sakes, the thing just launched a little more that 24hrs ago. I'm not saying anyone should be supporting Apple/Jobs and neither should they be bashing them. Give this thing more than 5 seconds to play out before passing judgement. Thats all I'm saying.
