I think the fact his "Location" says "Pandora" speaks for itself.

Anyways, enough with derailing this thread. My iPhone 4 reception issue isn't getting any better. I'm curious to see if there will be a press release about this from Apple. It sure is getting some major attention from some heavy hitters.

I can't wait for Apple to at least say something today so we can end this freakin thread and start a new one. hahaha

Brainwashed?

Am I the one who expects the device to have no bugs initially?
A bug would be something like emailed pictures coming out sideways (yes, this is real and nobody is really complaining about that).

A fatal design flaw, defect, or software malfunction would be the phone completely losing reception when held normally.

there's a difference. There are plenty of threads about the phone's positives. And there are tons of awesome things about this phone. However, when there is a massive, massive flaw like this that certain people are experiencing, they're going to care more about not being able to make a normal call than being able to record really awesome 720p videos. Sorry, you need to get in touch with reality and ignore these threads if they make you so angry.

This is totally a non-issue if you use these.

Omg

This issue will only get bigger and bigger. The publicity surroundingthe iPhone 4.0 is huge. The Gizmodo story, the features, the media hype, huge sales figures, etc. has mad this a very visible product and now the problem is becoming very visible too.

I suspect Apple knew of this, thats why they're selling these bumpers. They never made bumpers before.

Apple is in a lot of doo-doo I think. This antenna problem is not going to be easily fixed.

I too, think Apple will try to hide this with a SW update.

Shame on Apple!!!

This absolutely is the definition of hysteria.

All cell phones have always exhibited this behavior. All cell phones, all of them, can be demonstrated to exhibit this behavior. Yet... you and many others still think it's either a design flaw... or there's something defective with your phone.

There is definitely something defective.

I'm confused. First you say this:

Then go on to say this:

Why in the world would you spend $200 or $300 plus monthly service fees for a device that does not work properly?

I agree that returning the phone will not rectify a software, hardware, or network problem, but at least you can get another device in the interim. What is silly is accepting these problems as the new norm.

I guess I did a bad job of getting my point across. I agree with you. I'm trying to say that the people that say the solution is to just return it if you don't like it or have a problem with it is impractical because regardless the phone should just work. And if it is by design it never will "just work". Returning and getting a new one, a refurbed one or waiting for a magical solution will not fix it.

The concensus is it's a hardware fault and I hope Apple can work it out as I really want this phone. Getting people to return it is just saying "welp too bad I guess you're not getting an iPhone"

Just made a phone call with my Nokia N900 while tightly grasping it all way round with both hands, from a basement and standing on my head. It worked without dropping a single bar.

Am I trolling? I would if I wouldn't admit right now that the above is made up.

Am I an iPone user? No. (Love my N900 even though it's a "brick")
Then why am I posting in here?
Because I am an Apple user and I am loosing confidence in this company very very quickly if a problem with such essential functionality is being blamed on the user.

Never in my life did I have to hold a phone in a particular way in my hand to ensure a proper connection with the other caller.

Again, if this flaw is so massive, just simply return the device, and purchase one without the flaw. It isn't complicated.

And I'm not angry, my IP4 works great :D

Yeah? Is there a section labeled "non defective" iPhones? Not complicated enough. Really, though, do you have no problem with this signal mess?

bigOmar. Catch a clue dude.

This issue has made the FRONT PAGE of the New York Times, Good Morning America and BBC-- not to mention THOUSANDS of other high-profile media outlets.

This is a huge problem. Apple has to make it right. Holding the phone correctly is a joke.

Nobody really cares. Lol.

It's the internet. You can be whoever you want :)

I work for R&D for Pfizer's International division and I graduated from Princeton top of my class. I make $285,000.00 a year not including bonuses.

Any questions?
Yes, were you joking, trying to prove a point, or outright lying?

Has Apple released the supposed statement that's due out today yet concerning the antenna issues? Or are they still meditating lol.

Huh? I don't think I have ever used a cell phone where holding it a different way made any difference to the signal strength, let alone such a dramatic difference as is being reported in this case.
