Do you use a Starbucks card or Starbucks app/Passbook or any other sort of pre-paid vendor cards? I think over time as vendors make it available, it'll be come as much of a habit to reach for your phone to pay as you would your wallet.

I'll stay with my credit card.

but here you are "policing" comments that dont match yours. ive seen comments people claiming to be disappointed and hating the new watch and phone (moreso watch) and vice versa (which you dont seem to have an issue with). i havent seen anything about the company going under etc

and instead of quoting comments from the original ipod why not mention the 5c or ipod hifi etc?

if you cant take different opinions on a messaging board then thats something for you to look into.

personally i from what ive seen and read i find the watch to be a dud. the phone seems more of the same and its time for ive to do something else

I responded simply to your assertion that the ipod was the only time when people criticised.

It's not. History shows that apple gets criticised for everything they do (down to donating to charity)

Criticism of apple is allowed, but it gets thin when they keep proving people wrong. You have every right to not like the watch. I don't think its that great either. What I do know is that it's going to outsell every other watch combined. That's pretty much a given.

Any strongly held opinion, positive or negative, held at this point is naive IMHO. That's the pattern I see on these forums after product announcements people falling in love or hating it without even seeing it...let alone using it in a real world context. Such strong views based on limited information and experience, and pre existing biases is just not sound critical thinking.

It's only natural: the bigger you are, the more criticism you get. This happens in every industry: tech, entertainment, sports, etc...

What are you arguing exactly? Because a business had has success, it means it always will? You can have 351 great products, but that doesn't mean number 352 isn't crappy. Apple has only had great success in every product since when? They've had flops like every other business. It's self-serving cherry picking to bring up X product.

I doubt it, the Apple Watch may as well have been designed by him in the first place (who knows, maybe it was!).

whoa i am envisioning myself in my newfound hipsterdouchbaggeryness hopping out of my yellowgreen eurocar with my aWatch and yellow binocs around my neck hiking in the trendiest untrendy rainforest that sitting back in my yellowback and cracking an IPA oh my eretion hardens!

Yep and again theres no problem with criticising. Everyone has the right too. Just don't call people fanboys if they disagree with the criticism, especially since no one on this forum has seen an apple watch yet.

probably will

ok can link to your answers to overly positive posts?

you seriously find it to be a strong negative opinion when i say from what ive seen regarding the watch that i find it to be a dud ie not for me?

----------

I've seen criticism since forever with Apple products.

iPod: too expensive, ugly, click wheel is clunky, etc...
iPhone: "500 dollars for a phone?!" - Steve Ballmer; expensive, ugly, no 3G, etc...
iPad: haha that looks like a magnified iPod, too expensive, ugly, etc...

It's the same criticism every time. Apple in 2001 is not the same as this current one. They needed the iPod to be a hit to make a huge comeback. Apple in 2014 already has a massive share with iPhones/iPods/iPads. They know this thing will sell. It's status quo. No matter how ugly a product is, slap an Apple logo on it and it will sell like hotcakes.

see here is where history gets rewritten and thats a big problem in threads like this one.

ballmer criticized the pricing of the original iphone when it was released and what do you know apple lowered the price dramatically and things started improving. the original iphone was not some best seller so the point about 3g is right as well

Just look how it slipped Ive´s wrist, the watch does not fit at all! :D Besides looking like a baby toy.

Apple watch looks great !!
I don't understand the complain people have, look at apple site http://www.apple.com/watch/ and you would appreciate the craftmanship that goes creating this.

Great job Apple.

Hi Jony.
Looks like yer gettin' ready to upchuck.
Does Moe know that Curley has a twin?

A dud is "a thing that fails to work properly or is otherwise unsatisfactory or worthless." (from google dictionary)

What evidence do you have that it fails to work properly or is worthless?

Labelling it a dud is different from you saying "yeah, it's not for me because of a, b and c".

Well, for those of us who don't worship corporations we can see that its a terrible and dated looking design.

Yes. It's just not something technology is up to right now. Jobs would've delayed it.

I'm sorry but history is repeating itself. When Jobs first left Apple, they were on their way to extinction, until he came back and made Apple what it was up until he passed.

What Apple needs is a fresh crazy face that will scream at employes and make ridiculous marketing moves and products that go against the market-demand and turn them into market-demand.

it just shouldn't look like an uncomfortable lump on someones wrist - which it currently does.

...

Side note: Noticed that the BBC shut down their comments section re news on the iWatch after just an hour - that's odd!

All the oligopolies have unspoken agreements not to allow criticism of each other. These high mucky mucks who believe themselves better than all the great unwashed rabble all know each other, went to the same schools, and go to the same parties. They have a particular peculiar world view and anything that is off of that track makes them VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. Internet forums make them very uncomfortable and if an influential forum can't be coopted (so that unflattering comments and commenters can be censored and banned) then the forum is eventually shut down somehow. CNN last month simply turned their comments section off completely. No announcement, no nothing, just turned off. Their censors couldn't keep up and they couldn't handle the critique of their bizarre world view they were previously projecting that all "right minded people" should just naturally have, so they made their discomfort go away "at the push of a button."

uncomfortable lump?

aWatch = aTumor

unsatisfactory to me.

its different if you want to read something into it which is not there.

again please show me your responses to overly enthusiastic posts to show you are not just a hypocrite

The design is ho-hum but I certainly wouldn't call it terrible. The deal breaker for me would be having to take my phone along with my iWatch on a run or to the gym. I love all of the sensors and fitness tracking features, but they need to find a way to use the watch without the need for the phone *all* off the time. It would be nice if you could take the watch on a run, bike ride, etc and when it comes near your phone again, it will automatically sync up. However, if this were true, then you would lose the barometric and gps sensors of the phone which I can't believe they couldn't figure out a way to incorporate into the iWatch.

Can you explain that? If we assume there are six colour options per strap (and I think there are actually far fewer) then I count 432 combinations.

I think you've restricted yourself to hardware configurations. The millions is inclusive of all device configurations.

No, no no no. It's a hideous abomination and I think you need to hit a watch store some day to see stuff that is actually beautiful for your wrist.

Now I understand you :)

Often on here I see people jump from "it's not for me" to "it's a crap product and if you buy it you're a douche". These forums would be fair nicer places if people stuck with their own experiences and thoughts on how it might work (or not) for them. Few are equipped to make informative and credible wider judgments...as the premature criticisms and predictions of previous failed products (iPod, iPhone and iPad) have shown.

So when you labeled it a 'dud' I made the assumption you were implying the latter. My bad.

This^ As much as I love the hype that comes with Apple product launches, the fancy marketing doesn't work if the product doesn't deliver. We waited all this time and all they announced was an overpriced 6th gen nano with fancy wristbands.

You moron that mockup would be completely useless due to its form factor. Yes it does require an iPhone to use all the features like messaging, siri, calls and gps but most people carry their iPhones with them in their pocket anyway so it's not that big of a deal. Or would you rather the watch have built in 3g or 4g and gps and give you 5 hour battery life with use?

It is water "resistant" which means you can do anything except go swimming and diving with it, and it charges wirelessly. There are no plugs.

From what I can see you still have to attach the charger coil to it, like an electric toothbrush. My idea of 'real' wireless charging is something like WiTricity that allows you to charge multiple devices from up to 2 meters away.

What good are the sports features if you can't be confident going swimming or even taking a shower? It's just too expensive a device to risk.
