Wow. I'm shocked at how many people do not like the colors at all.

I think some of you don't appreciate how you achieve color on different finishes. The iPad Pro's body is made of aluminum and the case for the Apple Pencil and Smart Cover are made of leather. The leather used in the Apple Pencil is different from the Smart Cover so, a different method might of been used to dye each one. You can design a color based on the finish of your medium. Your medium can make a color glossy or matte. It's not an easy task and truly makes Jony Ive at least worthy of being called a "designer".

Also, in the photo the items are separated but consider how they would look together. The color scheme fits in a strange saturated way.

Much like this...the JLPGA Limited Edition PowerBook 170 of 1992...

Ummm. Just as shallow as we are for slamming it , you are praising its merits....based on a photo.

You are also missing the big picture here, from a bloke who has designed some fantastic apple products , and given how much apple in the bank, this is piss weak. It's just a new colour. His previous one off were actual design changes, is is a stock iPad.

You will find that people saw very little innovation and design when apple updated the colours on the iPods. Same people posting here. We love apple design and innovations, this this has neither, Stock with a new paint job.

Jony Ive's design team has created a one-of-a-kind 12.9-inch iPad Pro, iPad Pro Smart Cover, and Apple Pencil holder that will be auctioned off as part of a fundraiser for the London Design Museum, reports Wallpaper.

The iPad Pro has been anodized with a bright yellow dye, making it unique among Apple's standard color lineup of Space Gray, Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold. Compared to the Gold iPad Pro, it's a much brighter, more vibrant shade of yellow.

Accompanying the yellow iPad Pro is Smart Cover made from a blue French leather and an Apple Pencil ensconced in an orange Italian calf leather case. According to the auction listing, the iPad Pro's back and the Smart Cover are etched with the words "Edition 1 of 1."

The iPad Pro has an estimated value of GBP10,000 - 15,000, the amount it is expected to fetch at auction. It will be available to bid on starting on April 28.

Apple has donated specially designed items for charity auctions several times in the past, with Jony Ive creating a red Mac Pro and solid gold EarPods, among other items.

instead of wasting the design teams time on this butt ugly color choice how about "designing" a smart case for it! Just bought one and in have no decent option for an Apple case! Apple can surely do better than the crappy choice they are offering for their top of the line iPads.

By the looks of that (and camera bulge etc) it's safe to confirm that Ive has indeed lost his touch.

That thing is ugly.

Looks like a cheap Chinese yellow cover with a blue front. If it looked any good then the knock-offs would be coming to a Chinese market near you.

LOL heck, I'd go the whole way and build a replacement backplate in yellow if somebody was godda fork out 10 grand for it!

Like many here, completely underwhelmed.

Yet another example of the design industry's artistic elitist nose-raising at the "the rest of us."

Obviously we, "don't get it." How using a gawdy and clashing color palette (and not even original!!) is suddenly, "unique customized design," is far beyond my feeble mind to comprehend, obviously. Seems the hardware is exactly the same, so this unique design is limited entirely to color choice?

This is simply designer community internal masturbation, and is an insult to the intelligences of the rest of us.

Or Apple could donate money like everybody else instead of turning the event into an advert for Apple.

So, it's just a regular iPad that's been painted yellow. Anyone can make their iPad a one of a kind edition with a can of spray paint and some patience.
Can we assume they paint this ugly yellow using the same tech used to paint rose gold, gold on iPhone, iPad?

I am ok with a psychedelic yellow iPad, but totally not ok with its "Smart Cover made from a blue French leather and an Apple Pencil ensconced in an orange Italian calf leather case." With all their environmentally friendly initiatives and today's technology Apple should come up with different case/cover materials, that don't involve stripping live beings of their skin for vanity's sake.

They strip the skin off while they are alive?

It's for charity. Lighten up people. Jealously is a terrible thing. Blue and orange are complimentary colours. Yellow and blue - almost. Think it all looks great.

"In the U.S., many of the millions of cows and other animals who are killed for their skin endure the horrors of factory farming—extreme crowding and deprivation as well as castration, branding, tail-docking, and dehorning—all without any painkillers. At slaughterhouses, animals routinely have their throats cut and some are even skinned and dismembered while they are still conscious."

It's about taste though... not about how difficult it is to achieve the colours.

I mean, it could take a lot of effort for me to drop a big bog down the dunny. However, that doesn't make it more valuable than the last.

Yes but it's NOT this limited edition from Apple - look at any copies of limited edition marquees, the rose Gold Evoque from Landrover for instance, you could copy it but it wouldn't be worth 100k as its not by the manufacturer.
