lack of imagination, no critical thinking skills
It's really quite funny reading these forums.
This sort of auction has no real connection to every day to day practicality or "function" as it were.
It's strictly a charity auction. The proceeds go to help a charity.
This isn't "apple" doing something - this is someone who happens to work for Apple doing something.
Red, black, green, white - doesn't really matter. It's a special computer color. Doesn't have to be practical, doesn't have to mean a thing. It's Ive's name which is important...if the machine is used or not - doesn't matter. It's all an excuse to spend the money so some rich person can brag for 30 seconds about their "important" purchase and subsequent tax write-off.
Hypocrisy or not, Apple is not (by law or even any contemporary sense of ethics) obliged to contribute to charity. Sir Ive has even less obligation than the corporation known as Apple (by a certain point of view).
Get a grip. Who cares. It's red, shiny, and some rich person will buy it and some charity will get some money they didn't have before.
What have any of you done for charity, lately?
yep - that's what I thought.
If one were to perform some basic research, one could find plenty of very, very wealthy people who contribute even less of their time and wealth to charity. Not defending anyone - just rather amused/annoyed at the, uh, uninformed reactionary responses itt.
