I still think it looks bad, guys. I know you don't care about my uneducated opinion, based on looking at photos on the internet. I just think it looks more techy than sophisticated, and I'm worried I will look like even more of a nerd than I do already when I inevitably decide to buy it anyway. :D

I am excited about the design of the packaging! At long last, I can bid fond adieu to all of my wardrobes full of large watch boxes that I don’t use.

It has been widely speculated that the stainless steel Apple Watch would have a starting price of at least $499, especially given that the mid-tier model is equipped with a sapphire crystal display.

I'll get the Space Black steel model if it's $499 or less.
Otherwise I'll just get the Space Gray Sport model.

This guy is so full of ****. I swear all Apply employees take training lessons how how to talk for hours without actually saying anything.

You're an excellent mind reader :)

I thought the very same thing.

Besides all the self congratulations and world class hype they pump out, it seems that the top execs have all attended the same training designed to refine their story telling skills. To nurture the narcissistic Apple centric, superior to all attitudes, dialogs and presentation skills they practice during all waking hours.

I still think that the second generation is the one to wait for if you're into this watch. So much can be upgraded from what this version is projected to have.

If you got the $4500 to spare, buy it.

I guarantee you you'll be able to sell that thing for at least at $500 profit...if not easily more.

"Ive explains how the molecules in Apple gold are closer together, making it twice as hard as standard gold."

Wait, what??

"Ive explains how the molecules in Apple gold are closer together, making it twice as hard as standard gold."

Wait, what??

They've done a new compression technique to make it harder than untreated gold.

This guy can be annoying. He's acting like people are going to climax after looking at the watch. It's beautifully designed but come on Jony

Because nobody else does that. Google's "material design" stuff isn't pretensious at all.

----------

So the 349 prince is wrong, confirmed by Apple? It's probably 399 then haha

No, what's wrong is the stainless steel model is not going to be the same price as the aluminum model. That's what Apple was correcting.

Ive is a very good designer, who acts, at least in public, as if he really believes the myth that he is exceptional.

Ive was lucky to have joined Apple at the right time and to have had Jobs as his mentor. Ive also has a whole team of people who work on the designs.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Apple was perhaps the only company in this business, other than Sony, which paid attention to good design and UI, and was willing to spend the money to implement it. The rest were (and many still are) competing solely on price and specs.

Here is a "futuristic" phone that Ive designed before joining Apple and which kinda looks like a decent school project:

His design for 3 phones (5/6/6+) has some 50% of the smartphone market.
Good reason to believe him.

If you like but just bear this in mind.

Apple make premium priced products. That means you can do more on the design side. Think about the car shows where designers have a free hand. If they were to price their goods like Apple does, the production models would look like the concepts. Instead, they have to remove the cost to make them viable. This is what happens with most other PC makers. Pound for pound that doesn’t make him exceptional.

The 6 and 6+ are as ugly as hell. BTW.

I hope that the cows and/or other animals that were slaughtered for those high-end cases had a very good life and were treated with respect when led to their death.

Then you will be very interested in the work of Temple Grandin. You can find a TED talk or the HBO movie with Claire Danes.;)

I think we will be ok.

Maybe I just haven't seen it, but in the back and forth about battery life, no one has mentioned that Tim Cook, the one who stated the watch would have all day batter life, probably has a way more connected life than any one here.

Someone did mention his routine of waking up early and staying up late. However, no one has brought up the idea of how many notifications he receives a day. How many times we has to check his watch to see when his next appointment is, or if he will be on time for that appointment. He gets emails, texts, calls, all sorts of notifications throughout the day. If the watch can survive a day of use on his wrist, I think that it will do for most.

Or I could be wrong and everyone can laugh at me. Either-or.

Wardrobes

it's easier to move things around and you don't end up with your wardrobes full of large watch boxes that you don't use."

Finally, a tech guy who speaks to me. I have many wardrobes and managing all the purchases that go in them is a chore. That's why I have Jeeves. I fly him around to all my homes and he organizes my wardrobes for me. Excellent man, that Jeeves.

Looking forward to buying a few Edition watches for each of my wardrobes. Not that I plan on ever turning them on.

Yep.

"As PETA wrote when awarding her a 2004 Proggy: “Dr. Grandin's improvements to animal-handling systems found in slaughterhouses have decreased the amount of fear and pain that animals experience in their final hours...."

Kind of puts those nice leather straps in perspective.... Not all that different than shrunken human heads that "savages" hang from the roof of their huts - although at least those were taken in battle.

thats hilarious

at least I'm not the only one who actually gets annoyed by this man.

When Cook speaks, or when job's speaks, you recognised them as very good, and even charismatic sales people.

When Ive speaks, He comes across as arrogant and pompous, like he truly believes the marketing hype as real and that he truly believes he is better than others.

it just irks me the wrong way.

Sorry but I do not read anything he says as an indication that he thinks he is better than anyone.

You dislike him fine, but no need to make things up to justify it.

its the tone. but that I recognise is personal

don't you ever have someone, that despite appearance, just irks you everytime they speak.

Very funny! Best comment I've read for sometime. Couldn't agree more. I've even started looking at prices for my vintage Rolex that I hardly ever wear now. Bought new in 1974 so still worth a few bob as we say.
