Bye bye Jony. Nice knowing you....NOT. Good luck designing widgets, chairs, buildings or whatever you're going to do. Just stay away from software.

Eh, the redesign wasn't so bad. The only thing that truly bothers me are some of the gradients which even then, aren't that bad. iOS itself has a truly distinct look which I appreciate it.

The whole parallax background is what really caught my eye. I think that was an excellent addition to UI that just adds another level of interactivity. It's something that should be explored me.

Oh joy. Now to go along with my iPhone's boring unintuitive art and squinty hard to read thin blueish grey font on darkish grey background, perhaps Apple stores will replace the tables and Geniuses with an empty white space room with no intuitive door in front - instead you have to swipe and swipe and press and swipe to "discover" the door, and then let users rely on Siri to self-diagnose their phones.

"Function Over Form" & "It Just Works," RIP 2013.

Stake in the heart, 2015.
And don't forget, every single button has to be a freaking tiny circle!
(Still love my rectangular call and end call buttons!)

Something interesting...when Dieter Rams was given a Chief Design Officer role at Braun he ended up staying on at the company for 34 years. If anything this makes me think Ive won't be leaving anytime soon. Cook basically gave him the freedom to do whatever he wants and with Apple's resources it seems like a dream job. How many people get to be intimately involved in the design of a $5B company headquarters?

People like you are the reason why most corporations suck. Apple was special because SJ stuck to his core values even as Apple expanded and never lost sight of the small things.

Funny that it is my job to improve corporations. I just implemented a new process that saved the company I work for several hundreds of millions on a yearly basis, while increasing the safety of patients undergoing clinical trials. Win win. But what do I know?

To your particular point.. Jobs was one exception in a whole ocean of companies where the CEOs try to be everything and end up being nothing. Look at Marissa Mayer at Yahoo who said she is the new Jobs and is basically destroying the little company that is left by trying to focus on the small things.

People like you that insult others without provocation end up on my ignore list.

Design staff does not smile. No, Seriously, I really hope there is a change for the better design and usability in current and new Apple product. Lets get back to "it just work" and "I just know how to use it the moment I see it"

Good god I hate shake to undo. It constantly activates on my iPad when I don't want it to.
That sounds more of an issue with that particular device as it shouldn't be sensitive to that degree and generally isn't for most.

Did you make an account just to complain? This forum is better without trolls.
You're not very familiar with how the Internet works, are you...

Jony can do great things... So long as someone's there to tell him on occasion, "... Dude that's flat-out horrible. I never want to see that again."

That person was Steve, and it's why I miss him.

I don't know about Jony leaving the headquarters... I know morphing designs are going to be important in the future, but right now iOS hasn't even hit 3D icons that Linux had with cairodock... We're gonna have a bad time. Just look at windows 10... Barely getting aero back... And nobody told them we wanted 8 to be that flat. Maybe Apple should develop a feedback app for public beta testers and devs like windows 10 has so they don't screw up majorly.

Thank Goodness this forum doesn't get to decide how my iPhone should look. I happen to like iOS 7 and iOS8's design. Just because some of you guys don't like it doesn't mean it looks bad to others or deserves a design change.

That same thought process can similarly apply the other way for those that enjoy the iOS 6 look.

Yeah, parallax pops up every half decade or so as a possible interface paradigm. Hasn't really caught on yet.

Relatively recently, in 2007 a lot of developers got inspired by Johnny Lee's explanation and code for how to use a Wii remote to control head tracking displays:

In 2009, The Astonishing Tribe showed off a homescreen using parallax:

In 2013, I even predicted the night before Apple showed it off, that Ive was going to add parallax to the iPhone homepage.

There's a lot of neat ideas that could be tried.

I'm sure he hates expectations and corporate culture in general. I'd guess his time at Apple is nearing an end. He has more money than he'll ever spend and he probably just wants to work on small projects, socialize, travel, and be with his family. His creative struggle is over.

You just proved my point. Apple was great because of SJ, without him Apple is turning into every other company.

It's sad no one at Apple has the cojones to tell Johnny his GUI changes SUCK so they "promoted" him instead and one can only hope that means he won't be in charge of the GUI anymore.... (the sad sad GUI). Why can't they upgrade OSX to have a better Finder like XtraFinder instead of these useless worthless horrible inane downright awful changes they keep making to it? Oh, that's right. It's not a computer company anymore. It's a fashion company that makes watches and phones.

I think you overestimate what Jobs was. I agree that he was a brilliant CEO, but he was so because he saw the potential in a market that was in its infancy and that many hadn't discovered yet. that combined with his unique skills propelled Apple to where it is now.

What you are implying and what many think, is that Jobs had some magical ability that made it possible to repeat the same process over and over. This is not the case. The mobile market is maturing and competitors are becoming stronger. That is the reason why Apple seems to many to be behind in innovation.

It is nice and convenient to put everything on Jobs abilities whereas in reality you need to look at far more factors and the the situation is thus far more complex than that.

Apple would not do anything better or different now if Jobs would still be CEO and alive.
