Let's see, this should look very nice on all of his Bentleys and his many mansions throughout the world....

Neither is correct.
Also, if an unknown designer has done something I have liked I will purchase and comment appropriately. There have been a few.
Good for you on this. Many people complain but dont take action.
I don’t however gush over people like Ive or Banksy simply because they are Ive or Banksy.
Something tells me you’d wet your pants I’d they ever acknowledged you.
That something would be correct insofar as I respect Ive as a designer, although there are things he's done which I don't like; so if he complimented something I have designed, I would take it in the spirit intended. I don't do street art or graffiti so Banksy's opinion of what I do or did is irrelevant.

But these days I'm more involved in web accessibility so the compliments from the blind hold more weight.

And the dozens of candidates for it will fly to the ceremony in their private jets. How sustainable. ?‍♂️

I want to hear Jony talk about his design. It was truly exceptional to hear him talk about the iPhones…. Especially when he unveiled iOS 7.

This is very "thin" - inappropriate use of industrial clean design principles, over geometricized, colors too chrome, a sentimentalized utopian take on a deep topic, the Latin a questionable rendering of a confused idea - aren't humankind and the planet part of nature too ? For nature and affection for nature represented in art, there is almost any medieval painting or tapestry, eg the series of tapestries of which this is an example

His designs at Apple are not special. Are they better than designs at Ferrari? At any premium product? No. What's the name of the designers at Ferrari? Most don't know because the car is not accessible to most of us. That doesn't make the designs any less beautiful. Jony Ives is only known because the products are accessible to most people. What's so great about them? They have a bezel..ooooo... then this year they don't.... ooooooo.... whoopty doo. Oh wow look at that curve along the edge of the Watch. Yeah, my toaster has that. We love our Apple products for the role they play in our lives... yes, they look nice... they are only nice designs because most consumer products, computers, were ugly, so these looked nice. But there is no genius in their esthetics.

Getting awarded by a Jonny Ive award is pretty meaningless. It’s not a ‘big deal’ or anywhere close to being prestigious.
What is pretty meaningless are posts like this (one of many in this thread) where it's clear comprehension of the topic is lacking.

The seal is awarded by the Sustainable Markets Initiative, not Ive.

Ive & team at LoveFrom designed & created the digital version, while the paper version was a collaboration with British paper mill James Cropper ("The text is letterpressed onto handmade paper made by James Cropper’s Paper Foundation at its mill in Burneside, Cumbria – a workshop using solar and hydro power").

Fair point, I stand corrected.

Can't see why there is so much hate here, but it seems you just need to mention Jony Ive and the haters keep hating.

This is a worthy initiative which Jony Ive supports and has assisted by designing a digital award which is relevant to its patron. Whether you love or hate the Royal family, Charles is using his global position and influence to do some good.

I like the design of this. It’s pretty and seems to go with the theme of the award.

The article makes it sound like LoveFrom is the one giving out the award at first, but then they mention the Sustainable Markets Initiative that Prince Charles is involved with.

The same applies here.

Wow, I love everything about the Terra Carta Seal. It’s gorgeous!

I’d love to commission them to design a family crest.

For all the Ive haters here, remember if it wasn’t for him, Apple products would look just like any other HP or Microsoft laptop.

I used to respect people like Ive. Now, whilst I don't dissect them per se, I look at them like normal individuals.
I remember when I was younger thinking that Ayrton Senna was god like. Had never actually met or spoken to him - only saw him on TV and from a distance. Question was, why.
Then one day I met Huggy Bear, (Antonio Fargas of Starsky and Hutch fame). I'm not sure he was an A lister but he was famous nonetheless but I think generally accepted as a cool cat. It was a hour or two later that I thought to myself that he was just a man. Hadn't really done anything profound in general and certainly nothing that really affected me.
Over the years I met a few more people in the public eye, actors, singers, politicians, sports people and I came to the conclusion that they are just ordinary people and when they do ordinary things those things should really be treated as ordinary.

I will however recognise one thing about them. By virtue of the fact that it's them that are doing that thing, it can gain traction and visibility and that is a positive for good causes. The design of the emblem might be rubbish but at least it gets the sustainability thing noticed.

I'm not talking about thinking someone is godlike, everyone is a regular person but some are nicer people than others, I just respect Ive as a designer.

I wish him all the success in the world. Just DO NOT come back to Apple. I absolutely LOVE my new 16inch Macbook which was NOT touched by him at all.

So it seems to me there is one underlying issue going on in this thread:
It seems the Americans hate the British. Ive is British, the monarchy is British and that doesn't sit well with the Americans who feel Apple is their own.
I feel this is a shame as I have visited the States numerous times and really like the place.
It comes across as though us British are obsessed with our monarchy, that couldn't be further from the truth. Other countries are way more obsessed with our monarchy than we are.
I love what Apple have done and have been using Apple products since 1989 but never in a millions years did I care whether they were American, British, Polish or whatever else. They make awesome products and Ive was one of the people that happened to be part of that equation, I couldn't give 2 hoots what his nationality is and I'm pretty convinced if you asked any British citizen the same thing they'd agree because they're really not that bothered and insecure about their country, they're comfortable with who they are and that's about it.
