The arguments from fancopies in this thread get better and better.

I'm on my second popcorn bowl already.

Hopefully Samsung stops producing components for Apple products over this. Hit them where it hurts...

That would just hurt Samsung. Apple can find other suppliers, even though it may be difficult for a while. But Samsung can't find another customer as big as Apple--one doesn't exist. And how would they justify to their shareholders that they're turning away their biggest customer?!!

Why would they do that... They have probably made more from selling components to Apple than any damages they'll have to pay in damages.

It would be a case of cutting your nose off to spite your face.

And the fines for breaching contract would be huge.

- Did you steal a key to the Patent Office ?
- Yeah, basically.
- Let me get this straight. I got pulled off an oil rig, flown halfway around the world because you stole my drill design. Couldn't read the plans right and did a pisspoor job of putting it together.

Rings a bell

Seems like a massive win for Apple so far.

Their technical patents being upheld will potentially be very damaging for Android as a whole. Plus the wilful findings could result in far higher payouts.

The trade dress is a bit of a setback, though. Only the original and 3G are protected. I guess the 3GS and 4 designs aren't protectable.

Hmm. I wonder if that means we may see a reprise of the 3G design at some point.

I think Samsung won't be able to sit for a few days after this. I bet they will be a little sore down there.

Thank god US courts are protecting US innovation and intellectual property. If they had ruled against Apple it would have disastrous consequences. It's no surprise Apple have found sympathetic voices from some of their fiercest US competitors. Everyone understands Apple is fighting for the red white and blue, not just self-interest, for US ingenuity.

Yes for a fair trial, they should of chosen a neutral venue. Somewhere in Europe. But of course Apple just wanted to win. I can't believe you can patent generic shapes and colours. Rounded corners and green phone icons...

But if only the 3G's trade dress is infringed, damages will be smaller. Note that the newer, better selling phones are excluded here. This jury did their homework. Again, they must have been "deliberating."

iPad trade dress not protected. That's a bit of a loss. However, Samsung is already designing around it.

Even if they wanted to, they can't. They have contracts that they are legally bound to.

Regardless, Apple is a huge contract for Samsung. They just invested 4 billion into a plant that almost exclusively does Apple processors. They didn't do that so that for the hell of it.
What if they DID though.

You have to love how Apple just haves 4 iPhones.... it must be a headache to choose from so many devices.

Really, I can place just the Galaxy Tab 10.1, aside from it, not a single name brings me a clear image.
