I had the black for my 5S. Would you recommend the brown over the black, or do you think the black is still the safest way to go?

I have to say, Black is the way to go. And not because it's safe. Because it works.

I didn't want it to be that way, I really wanted the Brown and only got the Black as a backup. But here's the thing: With the screen off- as it is 90% of the time- my Space Grey iPhone 6 is a glossy black screen and surrounded by a sleek black leather case it really puts the emphasis on the phone as a whole, looks like a sleek black monolith, and let's the metal bottom shine against it brilliantly.

With the Brown leather case, the black screen clashes with the leather, you focus on this big black glossy screen in a sea of matte brown and you lose the metal on the bottom completely. It's very busy.

Lastly, I'm a high-powered SVP and in the boardroom next to my black notebook, black journal, and black Rolex, the Black leather case looks complimentary. There is something too casual about the Brown leather case, looks like it belongs to someone who spends the day in a nice pair of faded Levi's and that's not me. Someday, when I'm retired, kicking back in a pair of Sperry loafers at a ranch tending my horses it might look good to have a baseball mitt look. Today, not happening. I'm going to toggle between my clear TPU case when I want to see the grey steel sides and the Apple Black leather case for the rest of the time. My Spigen Neo Hybrid I'll consign only to crappy rainy days, it's just too big.

Come again.

got a leather case today, an hour later after sliding my iphone out of my pocket, the leather is already peeling off around the camera hole

went back to the apple store, had it exchanged, tried rubbing the case gently around the same location

peeling off again

finally returned the case and got a refund

wondering how apple can sell this crap for such an expensive price while it cannot last more than a few minutes

I have exactly the same problem as you, u haven't exchanged my (1st) brown case yet. I wonder if I should even bother exchanging again then as looks like there is a flaw around the camera hole?

Come again.

When vacationing on the island of Capri for a week or wearing khakis on an occasional business trip to China for a week, a Brown leather iPhone case might work.

But the other 95% of the time it won't. It's just too casual looking.

In your opinion...

My blue leather is starting to get some age to it. Very slight but the sides are getting a tad darker.

Of course, this is a discussion forum after all.

But my opinion is all that matters for me, and my opinion is what the OP was asking me for, and sorry, the Brown is too casual. It's good for a casual Friday in jeans and loafers and I don't need another situational case. Nothing wrong with a beloved and broken-in leather wallet, just cant' whip it out in the board room.

Definitely a troll. Lol. A quick google search of the troll's username brings a plethora of ill-humored posts on numerous forums, especially one for those aviationary inclined individuals. He's a frequent flier :roll eyes:

Also, his wallet was featured here :D

I got my first ever Apple leather case for 6 Plus 2 days ago. It's beautiful. I got the black one and can't wait for it to age. If my phone didn't have that premium feel before, it sure does now!

But.

I really love the tight fit. The phone can't wiggle or anything. TIGHT.

The buttons are really hard to press and they give a VERY low click. Without it, a regular sounding click.

My question is: will the button feedback be better in time? Perhaps when the leather hos worn a bit?

Man, I love this case so much, I might buy another one lol

My Apple iP5S black case certainly got better with time with regards to the ease of depressing the buttons. It became almost effortless. What made you chose the leather over the silicone, though? I'm still on the fence between the two. Black or olive brown leather case, or alternatively the dark slate grey silicone case. Sigh

Edit: Also, there's no real "wear" feel to the black case. Aside from the gradual loss of texture along the edge/perimeters, the color doesn't allow for the general "leather worn" feel as would the brown. Which is the main reason why I'm considering the brown leather in the first case (no pun intended)

^^^lol at your sig and clown posts

Not clowning, just a different perspective from a different place on the wage scale.

Not trolling, just a wealthy-man's point of view. Thank you for the consideration.

My posts are not ill-humored. You just don't understand extreme wealth. Rich people have feelings too you know. Stalking me and posting hurtful lies isn't admirable.

Sounds great! In a couple of weeks they'll be easier to press :)

I chose the leather over the silicone because leather gives it a more business-y feel  Silicone attracts a lot of finger prints and particles.

I've had Apple's silicone smart covers for my iPads, but with iPad Air 2 coming, I'll go with the leather smart case. I chose black because it seems more like a seamless pairing with my Space Gray 6 Plus than if I had chosen say, brown or midnight blue. :)

Black is safer since brown has been said to discolor after a period of use and exposure to sweat when kept in pocket. The black will remain black.

That's the very reason why I'm considering brown, actually. Leather is something that is designed to age with time, gain a patina, and show wear without tear. I feel like though the black remain "pristine" or seemingly new, it lacks the aging feel that's characteristic of a good leather product.

Man if being "super wealth" means that I have to worry about maintaining a certain image all the time and not being able to use a case because I like it then I am happy with my current level of wealth.

I would rather be who I am and be happy then have to put on some stupid front and follow a certain set of wealthy people rules on what freaking color case I can have on my phone. It must really suck to have all that money but have to act like a robot to be able to keep your "status"

For all of us normal people brown leather will look just fine, even in the board room.

Just got my Apple Leather Case

Steve Jobs was a casual guy: jeans and turtle necks- in the board room. And Apple grew to become the world's largest company, larger than Exxon Mobil. Nothing wrong with the classic Black and Brown.

Class is what you achieve , not what you wear.

So you would trade a $400,000 annual salary for a Brown leather iPhone case?

What you wear is dictated by the company you work for and the culture they maintain.

In my organization, we don't dress like college freshmen. Not my choice.

If I had to give up my ability to do the things I want and conform to some bs rules about what color I should have my case be absolutely I would. There is more to life than money and if I have to constantly be trying to fit a certain mold to make that kind of money I would rather just not have it.

But by all means you do you... or I guess really you do whoever you are forced to be in order to make lots of money and fit into that wealthy guy mold

My pink leather for the 6 plus is wearing mainly the front facing areas right on the border of the screen. I try not to keep the phone in my pocket but if I had to guess that's where the wear is coming from.
