Just got my Apple Leather Case

Yes. The 6+ had its flaws in terms of ergonomics at time. When I'm in bed I was used to using one hand with the 5S but with the iphone 6 plus I have to use 2 hands to type etc. It's taught me too use the phone in a different way. Other than that I'm happy
It fits in my pocket just fine. I have skinny jeans and it fits fine and sticks out at times which is noticeable. It's not a deal breaker for me but a new learning curve

Awesome! I'll most likely go with the 6s+, if that comes out next. I appreciate the help!

iPhone 6 Plus Midnight Blue Leather case darkening

I have a silver iPhone 6+ and purchased the Midnight Blue leather case. I love how it looks and feels. However, after two weeks, I noticed the edges and the sides on the back were black looking. A good 1/2 inch on each sides were dark. Sorry, I did not take pictures. I have seen others posting with this problem and if you search you can see others posting with pictures showing this. I believe that the leather is so thin, the oils from the skin is absorbing into the leather from holding it on its edges and wicking in from the sides.

I returned the case for another blue. A week later, same problem. This time, I exchanged the case for a black leather. I am hoping this wont be as noticeable on the black. I really prefer the blue color, but I am hoping the black will stay black. I checked out the black silicone case in the store. They had samples out, and they were pretty scuffed up and looked like they would show marks easily as well as grease marks, as was evident in the sample on display.

My GF has the brown leather, and you can see the same darkening issue there (she has the gold 6+). She is ok with it now, but was wondering if it will start to get sticky after time on the edges. Both of us treat our phones and cases with great care.

So far the black is looking good, but its only been 2 days. I am getting use to having black on white vs blue. I wonder if there is some leather protector that can be put on the case. It would probably darken the leather or even add a sheen, but maybe that would keep it consistent looking.

Bought the red one day one. Returned it after 10 days and got the midnight blue. Red was turning black on corners and sides. Just returned the midnight blue as it is bubbling in the middle and ends are turning black. Just got the olive brown, we'll see how this one holds up. iPhone 6 128GB GOLD in case you're wondering.

As you can see from the photos I put up, the edges are darkening but I actually like it. It adds to the character and it is leather after all. But it isn't to everyone's taste. I haven't had any of the bubbling or blisters that other people appear to be getting but I do make sure any surface I put the phone on is dry. Same with my hearing aids so I'm used to doing this anyway.

I have had mine nearly two weeks and it is still holding up well. It's starting to age nicely and unlike some people, I like how it is. It took about a week before it started to get darker on the edges where I have the most contact with it due to oils on my hands but it isn't really noticeable.

Photos to come when I have better lighting as it is 7am and still quite dark here!

Cool, thanks for the pics! Yeah, it looks good. Just as I would expect blue leather to wear.

I got the black leather case and i'm enjoying it so far. However, i use a Kenu Airframe in my car to hold my iphone and it seems to leave marks on the back of the leather case when taking the phone in & out of the frame.
If i take a picture of it you will hardly notice it, but i bet it will get worse after a while. Anyway, it's not that dramatic but for anyone using a kenu airframe considering a leather case it might me good to know.

Do you have any pics you can share of the blackening of the Midnight Blue case? Thinking of getting this colour but i'm not sure now as it's a hefty price for a non-durable case.

Thanks ;)

.....I have had my Midnight blue case on my space grey iPhone 6 since launch day and I can see NO blackening of the leather whatsoever! The case still looks brand new as if I just took it out the packaging. I also have a dark lockscreen (the default 'half Earth globe' one) and this, coupled together with another dark home screen (another default one - that circular space one!) and the dark blue of the midnight blue case, case one awsome effect!!!

I guess it all comes down to how rough you treat your cases!

Thanks for your input. Btw, the two stock wallpapers you mention are my 2 of my favourite wallpapers (got the moon one right now :p). I've got the Olive Brown leather case and have not got any blackening yet. Just hoping it stays that way.

Interesting. Thx for the update.

Haven't seen this combo yet...red leather + space gray!

Nice!

Btw, you should install the regular Telegram app instead which is their main app for all devices. The HD one will be discontinued (not getting any updates) since it was originally released because of organisational issues which now have been solved.

For those of you getting blisters or lumps on your cases, do you have sweaty palms or clamy hands? I'm wondering if that is an issue. I've had my case since launch and I do not have any of the problems people are talking about.

I do however have some wear on the bottom corners of the case where the screen meets the case.

Awesome tip - thanks! I was wondering when telegram was going to be updated!

Are you all treating the iPhone leather cases with any strain and water protectant before use it for the first time. I have placed an order for red Apple leather case and have also placed an order for the Wilson Leather TLC protector spray and cleaner spray.

Or is it safe to buy Apple ( a different leather company) Leather care products.

I've been loving my pink leather case on my silver 6, but now there is a blister rubbed off on the bottom left corner, and blackening around the edges.

I am not near an Apple store. What is the best way to exchange this for a new one? I bought it direct from Apple.

I think with the brown leather case the darkening of the leather around where you hold it actually adds a lot of character. Same with any bumps and bruises.

Not sure if this is true with other colors like pink or red, where it just makes it look dirty.

Just got my 6+ and midnight blue leather case. I really like it so far. My only concern is how much it will actually protect my phone.

My black leather case has gotten some white marks at the top of the lip. Don't know what they're from, but maybe it's the leather scrubbing off. Maybe it just need some leather grease.. Hmm..

I've got the brown leather case and I was actually bummed that they darkened the color for the 6. I bought one for my 5 and one for the wife's 5s. We love leather and how it will age so the darkening and scuffs actually appealed to us. The new brown is more of a coffee brown where the 5s case was a tobacco brown. Cases are also going to show wear but its either the phone or a case that will get worn. They're cheap so we just replace when dropped to the point that the leather is peeled back. If we had an Apple Store closer to home then we wouldn't even use cases but the nearest one is 5 hours away.

I've noticed a few people asking about leather spray and I've used this one (also named ) on some of my pricier leather bags. Keeps them gorgeous even in the rainy Pacific Northwest! I don't have the apple leather case yet as my iphone hasn't yet shipped. I will definitely spray it with this and report back when I do. I've heard that people have bags that they've spilled coffee on and this spray has managed to keep them pristine. I also notice no extra residue or smell on my leather after spraying. Might be worth a shot on some of the lighter colours!
