just installed iOS5, if you have any questions:

If I have my UDID registered can I install the iOS 5 beta ipsw with iTunes or do I need to download Xcode and install it through Xcode?

so if you are sending messages to ios friends it does not incur text charges? I currently use Whatsapp and google voice for my texts and would love to get rid of my texting option all together

Im installed on IOS5 also now.

Just doing a restore so my apps return and im having all my things sent to the clouds ..

how did you download it so fast? the fastest i found is fileserve and that occasionally reaches 70kb/s. so painful

Has one of my biggest iOS gripes ever been resolved? Can we finally delete apps while keeping the app-specific files (either on the device, or in the iCloud), so that when we reinstall the app, the files are still there/downloaded from iCloud?

Not being able to delete a large game without losing all your game progress when you're out and about and need another gig for HD video is one of the most peculiar aspects of software design I've ever come across.
 
Can anyone check Browsermark and Sunspider scores on iOS 5 ?

I'm curious to see if there are any enhancements on the engine side besides the reader, tabs, etc.

hello, I'm awake again. just tried to delete tiny wings and it says are you sure you want to delete this will also delete data. so I'm gonna assume yes. sucks.
 
Can you delete photos from albums (not the camera roll, but albums from photos taken with a different camera)?
And how is the new ability to create albums and change the order of photos?

First problem all of my contacts have been deleted

EDIT:

when cloud is turned on i lose all my contacts :S when off they return?
 
how do we enable the lock screen camera button? i am pretty sure I've gone through all the menus but still can't find it. i hope i haven't missed it.
 
anyone have issues getting itunes wireless sync to work? It won't seem to find my computer wirelessly?
 
Yeah, I've got a few:

It is possible to disable iMessages? Being data based means they're far less reliable in low signal areas than SMS which is baked into the carrier's network level. The last thing I want is for my phone to decide of it's own accord to use an inferior product.

Do I really still live in a world where we're up to version 5 of iOS and I still can't do horizontal orientation lock on the iPhone?

How does taking a photo with the volume + button work? Does the volume - button do anything at all? Do the buttons smoothly revert when the camera app isn't the active one?

What's the level of nuance when importing Twitter contact photos? Can you do it one contact at a time? Does it update if they change their picture?

Does it have one touch updating of all my podcasts inside the iTunes or iPod app? i.e. I don't have to go and find each available podcast in the store and download them one at a time, that's been there since iOS3. I want to be able to press a sync button and they all download.

Does the faster camera startup extend to third party apps that use the API (e.g. Redlaser)?

What is the ease of using more than one Twitter account and switching between them?

Do notifications always come in portait, or do they work enter from the top of the screen in landscape?

Is my understanding that AirPlay mirroring doesn't work in this beta correct?

No change to this. There's an iCloud API developers can use to avoid it in future I think, but it won't retrospectively apply to existing apps :-(

Ouch. That's absolutely bizarre. Do you have any games where you don't care much about the game progress, or the time to download a free game, play for a minute, save, delete the game, reinstall it, and see if the cloud backup might retain the progress?

I'm hoping the warning you receive upon trying to delete might not pertain to cloudsaved files. Though that is probably just desperate hope :-D
