I have low hopes, but does Music.app properly group artists from compilation albums? I can't stand having a few compilations (like mixedtape.com) loaded and every random ****** artist is listed under the artist tab.

It works in iTunes. It works on iPods (since 2005!). Please tell me it works in iOS 5...

Can anyone running the beta check for me whether there's any new options available under settings->ipod? Specifically, I'm hoping the option to hide compilation artists from the artist list, which used to exist on old ipods, has returned!

ha... guess I'm not the only one wanting this!

How does podcast syncing works wirelessly?
Do you have to leave itunes always on on the deskop/laptop and enable hourly podcast downloads?
Can you sync podcasts while being away from your home wireless? Like anywhere else with wi-fi?

Just installed it as well, loving it so far. Gotta load the new firmware on AppleTV, but this is a very stable beta release. Already made use of the camera volume/shutter button.

Sorry to disappoint. Nope.

Does the Music player have crossfade between songs yet?

does not appear so, but one feature that is new to the music app is now when you hold down a press on a song from a playlist, a bubble pops up with the complete song title and artist. Song title and artist now has scrolling effect while music is playing.

For the Reminders app, can you create a new reminder with repeats? Like daily, weekly, monthly, etc.

You can. After you name the task and hit done, select it and hit "Show More..." and several options will come up (Due Date, Repeat, End Repeat, Priority, List).

The Release Notes state that these are not active in this beta of iOS. They're important you should read them. js.

thanks for that, thought I was doing something wrong. Just to add my two cents, great upgrade, even for the everyday user. Have found it to be stable with texting, calling and email. New notification center works like a charm. Im a newbie with dev. previews, so does anyone know approx how frequently updates come out on the dev. builds?

Ha! We must have been typing that at the same time.

Sigh. This seems like such an oversight. Whenever I have to scroll through a mess of random artists, I can hear Jobs echoing in my head, calling the iPhone the "best iPod we've ever made". And I grit my teeth and keep scrolling...

I'm liking it so far. One question/comment/concern: in the reminders app, if you do 'remind by location' (or whatever its called) does it have to be a location of one of your contacts? i.e, if I want to set a reminder to do something the next time I'm at the mall or something like that...obviously that wont be one of my contacts.

When you get an incoming call from a number that's not assigned to a contact, the location of the number is now shown on the screen. I'm not entirely sure if that was the case before iOS 5, but I figured it's worth mentioning anyway.

Can you disable iMessage? I believe iMessage uses data plan to send messages.

I have family members that has unlimited text message but limited data plan. It would suck if they exceed the data.

Anyone else's iPhone 4 running super hot while in use with iOS 5? Even with infinity blade running and a dozen apps in multitasking my phone never got this warm

Yes, you can, but I'm not sure why text messaging would ever contribute to that concern. You could write War and Peace via iMessage over the course of a month, and still barely crack a Few hundred kilobytes. If anything, those folks will want to turn on iMessage and watch how their SMS usage goes down. They might even be able or downgrade their plan.
