The only thing that would worry me if I were one of you is how accurate are these online reservations? I mean there were ppl being turned away and they had their phone reserved and everything. Only to find out when they went to the store, that the phone they wanted was not in stock. I guess if you are a few minutes away. It is no big deal. But I would be pissed if I lived a few hours away and still got turned away after I made my reservation.

So true. That happened to me when I "reserved" the 6 plus. I drove to the nearest Apple Store which is about an hour away called and confirmed and once I arrived they told me they had sold out already. Needless to say I was peeved about the wasted gas, time, and false confirmations I have been given.

Thanks for this thread. Just picked up a 256 gb matte black Verizon model from the Apple Store in Fort Worth. I was able to pay full price and I popped in my AT&T sim, and it works!

I saw the thread, clicked the reservation link, reserved the phone, and picked it up 30 minutes later. :)

Just curious, but do they ask you for a Verizon account if you get it full price?

I never trusted anything but just going to a store and hope for the best. That is not easy for everyone so I am fortunate in that respect. 4 Best Buy stores within a 20 minute drive and 3 Apple stores within 30 minutes from me. No traffic it is even faster, Saturday and Sunday mornings I get around quick. it helps there is an Apple rep in front before the store opens, if I am shut out I head to another.

This year was easy, release day the first BB I tried had an unlocked 7 so I scarfed it up. Today the first Apple Store I tried had a Plus.

Same here. I learned my lesson after that fiasco. I normally just preorder it or just search around at some local stores if I'm not too worried about getting it on launch usually for the "s" cycle. Thankfully this year I was able to get it preordered for launch.

I made a reservation online to pick up a matte black, 7+ 256gb at the Apple Store in NYC on Fifth Ave. this morning. Went in about 4 pm & wasn't asked for a Verizon account. I told them I wanted to buy it full price, device only since I'm on AT&T. No problem whatsoever.

Reserved around 330PM had new iPhone 7 Plus in hand within 45 minutes no problems. I had my doubts about getting it since it was such a late reservation. Apple employee who helped me told me they got them right in.

when I went through VZW coming from ATT for DPP...they checked my credit. It's on my credit report.

So you're new to VZW? Then yeah, they'll check it. They check it for all new customers. Did they check it twice?

For existing customers, they just make sure you've been paying your bills.

The difference is that 32.xx/12 months is much more expensive than buying it for 650+Tax and selling it for 500 after 12 months just before a new iPhone is out.

I have been doing it since years and I have never paid more than 160-200 out of pocket to get a new . I just sell my old one on craigslist add 160-200 to it and buy a new. It ends up costing me 15-18/mo vs 32-38 you guys pay for IUP.

And a credit inquiry is not worth it if you are going to pay it off within a few months anyways.

It's no more expensive. The carriers just split the full price over however many months you choose with 0% interest. No credit checks.

You can trade it in after 12 payments, or pay off the rest; same price as full price was up front.

IUP comes with Applecare Plus which is why that is more monthly.

Phones aren't always worth more than upgrade price (12 payments). Depends on demand etc. With payments you can at least choose when 12 months comes around, not stuck with a phone worth less than the remaining payments on it.

There's no guarantee reselling it. This year for instance, I owed $300 left on my 6S 64gb and Gazelle and all of those sites were offering max $325. Not worth it for $25.

Sure, I could risk it on Swappa and maybe get $425 (after their fee and paypal fees), but Im stuck with it if no one buys it. I would never sell stuff on ebay anymore its become way too sketchy. Craigslist is risky/unsafe too in some parts of the country too.

I am not the one to get tied up with a carrier.

I have bought and sold every iPhone since I got my first one ie 3GS. It just works for me. I meet up with a buyer at my local police station and I give him the phone, he gives me the cash and I leave. 10-15 days later when the new one launches I add 150-200 at the most and buy a new one. 12 months later I repeat. I have only sold two phones(not my 12 monthly sales, those are craigslist only)on swappa and it wasn't too much work either. 10-12 high quality photos, good decription, price it nicely and it's sold wtihin a couple of days.

iPhones are the EASIEST phones to resale. I sell 15-20 items on craigslist every year and iPhone is almost always the one that sells the quickest.

How are you all making reservations? When going to the site I keep getting a notice that says not taking reservations until 1201. I have checked since fri night and nothing has changed Or have I been able to make a reservation.

As has been stated many times throughout this thread: 12:01 and 8AM. Which time zone? I'm not sure.

Anybody know if I can do Verizon's edge (carrier financing instore) since there is no option online for the? I.e.: should I select iUp just to reserve it, and then when I go in tell them I want to do the Verizon edge program instead?

I got my phone
I had the choice of iUP, carrier, or out right.

What's frustrating is more setting up then getting the phone. I wanted to restore from backup and it didn't. Not sure if it's because I had to download the new update too...but yeah, slightly bugged that I have to redo everything. Not the end of the world.

I'm surprised I was able to get a 128 plus but I ain't complaining!

Same thing happened to me with the update, but you can just erase all content & settings and it'll start the setup from the beginning where you can pick the backup you want to restore.

I'm visiting the US from the UK at the minute and I checked on the reservation sites this morning which showed nothing available in Nevada.

I thought I'd try my luck at the Forum Shops Apple Store. Half an hour later I had a black iPhone 7 plus in my hand.

The guy even recognised that I had an English accent and pointed me to the right network option to work back in the UK.

They had more available too so the reservation system is obviously not showing everything.

I was somehow able to reserve one today for pickup as well at a NY store. I was checking at 3pm and the Matt Black Plus was available for pickup today. I was kind of shocked but it was true. The person who helped me said they just got a shipment this afternoon.
