Those who think that this new iphone is in top of the food chain are really fanatics. Well let me tell you... it is not. Right now I can say that Samsung and Android are in the top. This year 2012 will be for Android and Samsung.
To each their own. I've owned many Android phones, not a fan. But I think if someone likes it, great for them. Why argue about subjective choices? /shrug

This new iPhone should of been the specs of the iPhone 4S..

I've said many times that Android isn't perfect and that I'd go back to iPhone if they cleaned up their act and started making the product appeal more to tech geeks. It doesn't have to be exactly like Android, just more like OSX.

Anyway, you focusing on me as an individual is more dramatic and trollbait than anything I'm doing. I'm focusing on the product and you're focusing on another poster to start some kind of flamewar.

Get back on topic.

1. They'll never make it an OS for tech geeks. For someone who spends so much time here, you should know that by now.

2. They've actually been making OSX more like iOS. Again...

Trolling? Really? Criticizing a product is trolling now? Please. Look at the poll. Apparently there's 264 other trolls in this thread.

Also, Steam forums? What are you even talking about?

Making posts specifically to stir the pot is trolling. Often such posts are critical in nature, but trolling is defined by the motivation. You're motivation is clear to everyone here.

They wont make it more techy seen as they are trying to attract general customers not just techy types yourself. People like iOS because its simple whilst some techy people get frustrated at how simple it is. Apple wont make it more like Mac OSX they are making OSX more like iOS.

You realize there has been mastercard pay pass for quite a while now and that it works with google wallet if you have a android phone? Lots of retail locations like starbucks etc in Canada have the terminals already.

Apple likely isn't into NFC because it hasn't figure out a way to set the game up to it's benefit.

I agree with you. They probably want to wait until they can do it THEIR WAY.

What's the point in taking a huge leap into NFC, revolutionizing the way the World pays for stuff... only to be copied by Android a couple months later?

They will do NFC when its right for them.

So LTE is not a big feature. Yeah, your not prejudiced in any way.
LTE is a standard feature. There's nothing unique about it to iPhone. Many phones already have LTE. Its an inevitability in the mobile phone world. It's an upgrade that will be in every phone. It doesn't differentiate iPhone in any way from the competition.

A big feature would have been something like "Call any other iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch in the world for free via iCall"

Or perhaps something like 1080p recording at 60 frames per second. That would have been unique to the iPhone.

If I said "LTE is a big feature for this Android or Windows Phone" you would be saying the same thing I am right now about LTE being a standard feature on iPhone.

From day one, since the beginning of Apple, has their goal ever been to make computing more complicated.

Never.

Simple, clean, and easy. That's been what Steve Jobs has been preaching since the 70's.

Some people get this. Fools that expect Apple to be someone else dont.

I really don't understand why some people continue to post here. I can understand being disappointed in the new iPhone or being critical because it is missing a certain feature you wanted. But those who keep referring to Apple as "crappie" or continue to talk about how useless IOS has been the last few years, what exactly are you hoping to accomplish. Do you honestly believe that you are going to change anyone's mind who believes that this update is good. If not are you only here to troll.

This is a public forum for discussing Apple products good or bad. When me and many people buy new tech, I want to know the good and bad side of it.

Are you a Apple fan? I asked this question numerous times with no answer. Do they pay you? do you receive dividends? So why do you defend a company who could care less about you, more so than your family and friends.

Many people posting (like me) are consumers who excited about the latest gadgets/technology. Apple were known for innovation and setting the bar, but now they are not. It's not a crime to express negative opinion.

From this keynote I already know this phone won't be my next one though I am still using my old 3GS!
Galaxy Note 2 sounds just right for my needs

Feature are not defined by their uniqueness. Features are features. Any features above the current models are new features. A major speed bump in the wireless speed is a big feature.

For that matter, panorama shooting is not unique either.

You make up arguments just to argue. We have a name for that.

Hey Geckotek, why don't you go on all the threads here that have been posted in the last 3 hours saying that something about the iPhone is disappointing and accuse them of being trolls, according to your logic?

Again, stop focusing on me. Focus on the topic. I'm not here to start a flamewar with you. If you don't like the topic, find a thread that doesn't criticize iPhone 5 and stay there. Nobody is forcing you to be here.

OK lets see now:

  1. People wanted a bigger screen - Check
  2. People wanted an improved retina - Check
  3. People wanted LTE - Check
  4. People wanted a better camera - Check
  5. People wanted a new design - Check
  6. People wanted it faster - Check
  7. People wanted 5ghz wifi- Check
  8. People wanted better battery life - Check
  9. People wanted better Siri - Check
  10. People wanted better voice calling - Check
  11. People wanted NFC - Unchecked, can't have it all!

Apple was not about what people expected or wanted. They always revealed things that we did not know we wanted. That's what made them innovative.

If "features are features" why are you differentiating between "big feature" and "feature"?

I'm saying LTE is a feature, although a standard one. You have no argument with me other than LTE is not a "big feature" since it isn't a first in the mobile world but rather, something that other phones already have.

To people pumping the android what are they doing that so much better? I don't see anything ground breaking coming from them?

There is a LOT to like!!

Larger screen and still fit's nicely in hand or pocket.
Lighter
Thinner
LTE
faster A6 chip
new advanced screen technology

Apple built on a very successful design and pushed the limits of engineering to make it better, much better, thinner, lighter, faster, bigger screen, updated OS ....

For the haters what would of made you happy? A larger screen, more android like customization, NFC, what?

I can understand some wanting a larger screen on a phone, it's personal preference. With Apple's billions in cash and design team they should offered choice of two screen sizes. After all the larger of the two is the easiest to make because you have more space for components and battery etc. I think Apple could of raised the roof had they shocked the world and delivered on two phone sizes. Looking back on this over time I suspect this will be a clear mistake Apple made. There's simply too many phones on the market for Apple to limit screen size choice that much.

Nice phone, great updates, I don't have any better suggestions what they could or should of done with the design except simply offer two sizes of iPhones - everyone would of been happy, competitors shocked, Apple screwed up large on this, imo.

Snap out of it my friend. Your not gonna receive a dividend.

Uniqueness was pretty much Job's philosophy. Apple products were suppose to be unique to the rest of the market. That was the whole point.

honestly as an android user I'm excited about this phone. I wanted LTE, bigger screen and great battery life. I guess we'll see about battery life in real world tests doesn't matter cuz theres no way I'm paying full price for this phone or giving up my unlimted data so I'll wait until I can find one used for around $350, which will take a while. I'll keep my android device until then

there comes a point when you start to run out of new innovative features. Samsung still makes plastic phones, yet they are innovative? lol

The uniqueness he pushed for was in design and interface. Not features.

You're the guy that said "features are features" so calling LTE a "big feature" goes against your earlier notion.

Like I said, stooping to your level. If you want to call panorama a "big" feature, then you obviously left out many other features simply to stir the pot. Your just getting off pissing off the iPhone fans. Childish.

They won't be losing so many people. Just some of us won't be buying the latest and greatest iPhone this year. I think many in the 45% unimpressed camp will be sticking with their iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S. I know I will remain quite satisfied with my 4S for the next year or two.

I must admit I am very tempted to buy a Lumia 920 when they launch though. :D

That and a forum poll never matches the general public.

Time to grow the ignore list. :D

That's so dumb... Android offers a very good OS. I myself like the Android experience better.

I own a Sony Xperia S (for testing purposes mostly) and I find Android mostly okay. I do love the display on the Sony it looks even better than the 4S as far as I'm concerned. Android OS is definitely not as polished as iOS though. Little niggles like the horrible copy and paste implementation are very frustrating to me. And inconsistencies in how core functionality works in different apps can be really annoying.
