Too late:

Judging that this was February, and people don't seem to have heard much about it, we can already tell what a resounding success that was.
Speaking from experience, pico projectors are worse than useless, and that's why I don't want to see one in my phone. They don't promise the brilliant brightness they claim, and all they do is suck battery life. Maybe when the technology is there to get display a bright enough image without having to go completely pitch black, through a small aperture without melting your phone, I'll buy. But that's not today.
I'm fine with the iPhone 5 and its features. I've said this before and I'll say it again: having tons of frilly features for the sake of having frilly features was a game I played long ago, and I learned that unless they work well, they're useless. The iPhone 5 (I hope) has just the right advancement in features and OS that it works well. And THAT is what keeps it ahead of Samsung and Android devices.
If you're disappointed, then please, for the sake of sanity, don't buy one. that way there's less frenzy and plenty of stock for those of us who indeed, would like to have one.
what did u want it to have?
A wider screen, so the keyboard is actually decently usable in portrait, and so content above the keyboard in landscape is actually viewable. Not simply a stretched iphone 4S. Big deal. Nothing impressive.
They should have done the back either ALL metal or ALL glass (again, but improved). Two prominent materials on one plane of the device just looks shoddy and unimpressive.
What happened to Tim Cook "clamping down on rumors" ???
Most everything we saw was foretold via the rumor sources. Except, of course, for the aggregious $29 price tag for a stinking 30-pin to 8-pin connector.
they did innovate in the last release...
pop up player
swipe for screen shot

and a bunch of other stuff that doesn't come to mind now. but the ones I just listed above are innovation.
PS I am not a samsung fan boy by any means, just wanted to keep the record straight.
ahhh so plastic designs are innovative. I get it now.
so you'd prefer plastic instead?
it's funny... alot of people (including me) is a bit disappointed.. yet, we can't really say exactly what it is we want. I guess we expected the unexpected. Which we really shouldn't.
lol i read exactly what you wrote. All this complaining and people keep comparing the iPhone to a PLASTIC phone. Yet, this new update is still not good enough for you? lolRe-read what I said. All metal or all glass. Not sure why you even bother responding when you can't comprehend what I write.

I've said exactly what I want.
All metal or all glass back, so it doesn't look like a shoddy prototype phone, 1/4" wider screen to improve portrait keyboard functionality and landscape content display when typing.

Also, if Apple had left it all glass you would be pissed off bc it was just like the 4s just a tad taller. There would be something for you to complain about!!
So you'll never upgrade because the screen is a bit taller?Truth be hold, I like the 3.5 inch screen anyways.
what I don't understand is why so many people expect every new iPhone to completely revolutionize the mobile phone industry. Did you people expect every iPod refresh to revolutionize the mp3 player industry? No, they were incremental upgrades, and people understood this - why is the iPhone so different?
tl;dr: Apple doesn't very often revolutionize markets it's already in - they revolutionize markets they hadn't entered yet. Chill out people.

Uh because they claimed it would change the mobile industry again....
That was a big whopper.
Every single rumor was true. No big surprises. Just wideband audio and an A6 processor which doesn't seem to be quad-core. No NFC.
The big features are...panorama mode. Great.
