Larger screen and still fit's nicely in hand or pocket.
Lighter
Thinner
LTE
faster A6 chip
new advanced screen technology

Apple built on a very successful design and pushed the limits of engineering to make it better, much better, thinner, lighter, faster, bigger screen, updated OS ....

For the haters what would of made you happy? A larger screen, more android like customization, NFC, what?

I can understand some wanting a larger screen on a phone, it's personal preference. With Apple's billions in cash and design team they should offered choice of two screen sizes. After all the larger of the two is the easiest to make because you have more space for components and battery etc. I think Apple could of raised the roof had they shocked the world and delivered on two phone sizes. Looking back on this over time I suspect this will be a clear mistake Apple made. There's simply too many phones on the market for Apple to limit screen size choice that much.

Nice phone, great updates, I don't have any better suggestions what they could or should of done with the design except simply offer two sizes of iPhones - everyone would of been happy, competitors shocked, Apple screwed up large on this, imo.

I hear you. I don't dislike the phone. It's definitely a great iphone, the best one out. Many people and I were just expecting more from them, something new, not just a larger screen, but take up the whole phone and deleting the physical home button and replace by a on screen one with a physical feel technology... maybe screens on both sides... maybe some sort of touch pad on the back like Vita.

The uniqueness he pushed for was in design and interface. Not features.
Haha what. Jobs didn't intend that iPhone have unique features? Are you on another planet? Jobs always said that form and function have to meld together perfectly.

Also, phones and technology in general don't sell primarily due to form, they primarily sell due to function.

To say he didn't want uniqueness in features, dismissing it entirely, is just asinine.

I'm not disappointed at all I've learned to have modest expectations from apple I see no need to upgrade to this phone my 4s works fine and is fast enough.

EXACTLY what I said would happen, happened, except they disappointed me even more by keepin the shoddy looking two-tone back that, as I said before, HAS NO PURPOSE!

MAJOR fail. Nothing revolutionary, nothing impressive. They failed hard on this one. Stretch a iphone 4S, made it a bit faster and a little thinner and then come out with how its the best thing they've ever done. Nope. The 3gs-> 4was way more of an accomplishment.

Like I said, stooping to your level. If you want to call panorama a "big" feature, then you obviously left out many other features simply to stir the pot. Your just getting off pissing off the iPhone fans. Childish.
Clearly I was being facetious when I called panorama a big feature in my first post...

I mean honestly, did you really take that literally?

This is a public forum for discussing Apple products good or bad. When me and many people buy new tech, I want to know the good and bad side of it.

Are you a Apple fan? I asked this question numerous times with no answer. Do they pay you? do you receive dividends? So why do you defend a company who could care less about you, more so than your family and friends.

Many people posting (like me) are consumers who excited about the latest gadgets/technology. Apple were known for innovation and setting the bar, but now they are not. It's not a crime to express negative opinion.

No problem with people critical of apple products or the iPhone. But there are more than a few posters who continue to post nothing substantive or offer anything they would like to see changed. The only thing they seem to do is continually tell us how much Apple products now suck.

It kinda gets old after a while.

But of course I am a fan of Apple products that's why I visit an Apple Fansite.

Too bad the form and function don't meld together at all in the iphone 5, all you have to do is take one look at the back and realize how bad the design is. I honestly can't believe they'd release it looking like that.

I'm also unimpressed and saddened to see all the rumors come true and nothing else. I have a 4s, so I may wait this one out. And that would be a first for me. I've had each of the previous 5 models.

For me, although all of the new features are "nice", none of them stands out as something I need all that much.

What would I have wanted out of this phone? I'm not sure. In the past I've left it to Apple to surprise me with something. Now it feels like they're just not trying very hard. How about a new form factor? Yeah, I know, this is "technically" a new form factor because it's longer and thinner. Whatever. To me it looks a lot like the last two models. What about that haptic technology that was rumored slightly before the iPad 3 launch? Is there really nothing they can do except add a few specs on top of what they already have?

So, great, we get a slightly larger screen and a collection of obvious and fairly boring spec upgrades. As usual, I'm sure the "2x performance increase" will feel more like "1.25x". The "44% improved saturation" will likely mean very little unless you're comparing side by side. Another row of apps is nice. I guess.

Maybe I'll get one if I can make it work out so that it's a free upgrade by selling the older model. Maybe not. For the first time I'm feeling pretty "blah" about this release.

THIS IS WHY APPLE KEEPS THINGS SECRET. Because Rumors are spoilers. It's like reading a mystery book but finding out who's the killer from the first page. You already know it. It's not longer surprising when the killer is revealed on the last page.

I think the end of creative Apple is near. I knew when Jobs went, it was over for Apple, just a matter of time.

The 5 will sell plenty for sure, but come on with those advertisement, you gotta be mind controlled to believe that crap.

You can say all you want about Steve Jobs' difficult personality but it is obvious with the issues first with the hotter, heavier iPad 3 (and its screen quality issues) and now the lackluster iPhone 5 that they no longer have someone at the top constantly pushing and saying "it has to be better, we have to be best". WITH has Jony Ives been doing for 2 years? That being said, the new iPod Touch looks very sharp. But $300 sharp? Yikes.

It will be interesting to see what happens with APPL stock in both the short and long term. I have no idea but I've lost some of my vast enthusiasm for all things Apple in the past year or two with the lawsuits, QC issues, underwhelming upgrades, etc. And I say this with regret because I am an Apple fan in an Apple household.

RIP, Steve.:(

what exactly are you expecting?? When you are constantly at the top and have the newest features...at some point you will run out of ideas. What revolutionary features were you expecting this time around?

there comes a point when you start to run out of new innovative features. Samsung still makes plastic phones, yet they are innovative? lol

;) never said Samsung were innovative, they just make phones more powerful and larger screens.

Did I just reveal your anti-Samsung or company biasing agenda. ;) Remember, Apple don't pay you, don't defend them more than your family.

and a bunch of other stuff that doesn't come to mind now. but the ones I just listed above are innovation.

PS I am not a samsung fan boy by any means, just wanted to keep the record straight.

classic lol

Apple really needed a wider phone. Landscape mode in Safari sucks, especially when searching.

A quarter of an inch wider and nobody's precious hands would have even noticed.

Projector , before Samsung do it ........

Too late:

http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/25/samsung-unveils-new-galaxy-beam-smartphone-projector-combo-wit/

Judging that this was February, and people don't seem to have heard much about it, we can already tell what a resounding success that was.

Speaking from experience, pico projectors are worse than useless, and that's why I don't want to see one in my phone. They don't promise the brilliant brightness they claim, and all they do is suck battery life. it will wow your friends for exactly 10 seconds... AFTER they've turned off all the lights, shut the blinds, and made the entire room as pitch black as possible so they can see what you're projecting on the wall from six inches away.

Then, they'll get bored, turn the lights back on, and fire up the Apple TV to view whatever they want to view streamed from their iPhones or iPads, in comfort.

Maybe when the technology is there to get display a bright enough image without having to go completely pitch black, through a small aperture without melting your phone, I'll buy. But that's not today.

I'm fine with the iPhone 5 and its features. I've said this before and I'll say it again: having tons of frilly features for the sake of having frilly features was a game I played long ago, and I learned that unless they work well, they're useless. The iPhone 5 (I hope) has just the right advancement in features and OS that it works well. And THAT is what keeps it ahead of Samsung and Android devices.

If you're disappointed, then please, for the sake of sanity, don't buy one. that way there's less frenzy and plenty of stock for those of us who indeed, would like to have one.
