the 5 doesn't cut it.

I am disappointed and yes I do know what I want. It's not a goddamn 4 inch screen either which btw is 2010 size. Everything has already passed up the 4 inch mark two years ago.

This right here:

http://www.nokia.com/us-en/products/phone/lumia920/

Is the screen size I want in an iPhone 5.

4 1/2 inch screen. That would be the smallest it should go as a 2012 product. Width + length. Not just longer.

I love Apple but I feel this is a slap in the face to those most loyal.

You again?
Look through this guy's past posts and you'll see how big of a fandroid he is.

Sorry to break it to you...but the biggest feature of the s3 is....S-voice? lol.
I very much dislike the S3. Way to get your research straight.

There is literally no surprise packed in the new iPhone 5.
No new software features either.
Seems like Apple is milking this product to high heavens.

Just think of all the fan boys that 'got' everything they wanted today. They are the ones that didnt want a wider phone or a new design.

Its PERFECT!!!!!!

If the leaked hadn't of happened, I'm sure most would be happy with what we got, but the leaks came out really, really early, almost like the iPhone 4, minus the whole device leaking in general. I'm happy with what it is. NFC was a disappointment in not getting, but not a deal breaker for me. I have a feeling it will make it into the device next year with the "5S". Remember, they tend to wait until the particular feature is a standard, and make it better and easier to use. NFC is still not fully adopted by anyone which makes me think that next year, they think NFC will make it's turn into being a standard.

Doesn't even matter if he's a fandroid, his point is independant of his product bias. And his point has merit.

No, we wouldn't. They claim the world with their new phone, but really all it is, are your usual speed upgrades, camera upgrade, etc but an elongated iphone 4 with a shoddy prototype looking back. Expectations are irrelevant to the fact that it is a bad design.

This is what I don't get about people here:

Did NOBODY expect the phone to get thinner?
Did NOBODY expect the processor to get faster?
Did NOBODY expect the camera to get better?
Did NOBDOY expect the sound to be improved?
Did NOBODY expect the cellular radios to be upgraded to LTE?

These things that people say "make the iPhone NOT disappointing" and that everybody who voted NO in this poll should "shut up and sit down and go away" are things that you would expect from ANY phone, yet somehow because Apple did all these things, as is expected of them as the company that they are, they somehow have a free pass at not making anything unique anymore, and people act as if the product is a one-of-a-kind.

Honestly now, guys. Apple makes a good product, but there's nothing about the 5 that makes it attractive other than that its a good product, which can be said of many phones on the market. It is simply a refined iPhone 4 with virtually the same screen experience, and yet Phil Schiller has the gall to say "we started from scratch" about this device.

I have a 4S, and the only big advantage I see in the 5 over the 4S is LTE, but we only have DC-HSPA+ in my area. I think I'm going to have to talk to some of my Android friends tomorrow and see how much better than find our 4G over 3G to see if it's enough to make the jump from 4S to 5. I honestly don't see any other big feature that the 4S won't also get in iOS6, other than the slight design change and small internal boost.

Apple probably realized that the only way they could get people to accept this phone without complaint is by finally putting in something that they should have put into the larger iPhone 4S, so they simply delayed the inclusion of LTE for the iPhone 5.

Think about it. The screen is a disappointment despite technically being bigger, but if you pair that with LTE, which a lot of people want, it becomes a better sell.

They strategically align their features so that they are nicely spaced out in order to maximize the number of phones sold.

Sneaky devils, eh?

I was really looking forward to upgrade from my iPhone4 but I'm extremely disappointed.
90% of features they orgasmed about are already in other non-apple phones in the market.
Very sad... Will wait for iPhone 5S or something. I so badly wanted it to be awesome. :(

But what happens for you if the phone gets bigger than 4 inches?

Nothing. I'm not against a 4 inch iPhone, I just don't care to get one. I know a lot of people are dying to get their hands on a larger phone, but I'm not. I'm happy with my 3.5" one as it is.

I feel the same way. As soon as the keynote was over, that was my thought. We didn't see LTE in iPhone 4S so they had a killer feature for iPhone 5.

Wow, there's a lot more to it than that. Like the iPhone5 or not but realize it is completely redesigned inside and out. It's very challenging to put more in a thinner and lighter product yet stick to principals that make it a good phone, for example being the right width for the majority of users.

I think Apple should by now be offering a choice of screen sizes, seems to be the biggest division among those who argue.

But from a design and engineering aspect they accomplished a lot and made huge adnancements with iPhone5. Read up on it watch the video's, pretty cool stuff.

I am very disappointed with this presentation. I think this is the first time Apple move forward so little. The upgrade of the iPod line looks like a design step back. And the upgrade of Iphone is also in design minimal.

I actually think that one could sense the uncertainty of the various hosts, as if they do not quite feel themselves secure in this relaunch situation. In particular, seemed Tim false satisfied at the end. He was too happy.

I will not buy any of these products. Otherwise I would have bought an iPhone 5, but I do not feel I'm getting something extra with Apple anymore. It has become too mainstream.

Hmm ...

My 5 cents.

They did claim it would "change the industry", yet it's just an elongated shoddy prototype looking design that doesn't change anything.

Where did I compare it to a plastic phone?

I'm making the point:
1. It serves no purpose using both glass and metal on the back
2. It looks like a shoddy prototype with 2 materials/colors on the back
3. It should either be all glass or all metal.

I wouldn't complain, in fact I wouldnt even mention it if it was all glass. But the bottom line is that this a small incremental upgrade over the 4S that really doesn't impress.

It would have to be either all glass or all plastic, as the cellular signal would be blocked otherwise.

I was more disapointed last year with the 4s, actually I'm not even dissapointed with the 5. The 5 is a bigger upgrade than what we saw last year when we went from 4 to 4s.

I don't get what people want. The SGS3 is lauded as being this terrific upgrade, lets see what it really did compared to the SGS2:

Got thicker (8.6mm vs 8.5mm)
Reduced the resolution of the front camera (1.9MP vs 2MP)
Increased processor power (1.4GHZ quad vs 1.2Ghz dual)
Increased screen size (0.5inches)
Increased screen quality (720 vs 480 but pentile vs amoled plus)
Increased Battery Capacity (needed with LTE and screen increase)
Added LTE

Now the 4s to 5

Got thinner
Increased resolution of front camera (1.2MP vs VGA)
Increased processor power (A6 vs A5)
Increased screen size (by 0.5 inches)
Increased screen quality (in cell tech)
Increase Battery capacity

Arguably the 5 is more of an upgrade from the SGS2, yet its seen as an utter disappointment. Hard to see the justification for that.

Sucker. Buy next years 5s model that will only have more capacity,( and an even SMALLER sim chip and smaller charge cable)........THEN get the actual WIDER phone they should have sold this year.

The thing is, with the iPhone 4S, they kept the same design as the iPhone 4, but added new features, now they focused on a new design while making improvements. I do not see what's to be disappointed about. iPhone 4S users may not wanna upgrade to the iPhone 5 but iPhone 4 & especially iPhone 3GS users would want to go for the upgrade. Plus, we should be excited for next year's release now that the design has been handled, the next iPhone will get tons of new features, not to forget the further updates to iOS 6.
