I want to love these, but the darn things won't stay in. Any recommendations on a silicone adapter as mentioned?
Saw someone putting cheap headphone cushions around, seemed to work great. There is a video somewhere on youtube about it.

I don’t like the iPhone X and everyone including this forum knows this. I like Apple products (in general not all) but does not mean that I am sheep.

I have used numerous EarPods from different makers and spent a lot - at the end left rather disappointed. Only a month ago I bought the AirPods and I think they are amazing. I don’t care if you and others think that I look like a fool, as I am very happy with it.

You may be wondering why I responded if I don’t care? Well, I just wanted to say that everyone has the right to voice their opinion, but your post is rather silly. What others look than actually commenting on the product is a weak argument. Also, have you even used it to say whether it is good or not?

Others may say the same about me regarding the iPhone X but I can justify it and this is not the place, as I will go off topic.

Remember this when they are re-designed and look better.
You will buy the new ones because they look better.
You will not wear the "old" ones because they look ridiculous.

Trust me. I come to you from the future.

So you’re saying watching videos with the iPhone X, which costs £1k, in portrait mode is okay? Can you justify that in the 21st century? Crazy.

I am quite confident you will respond in regards to sells etc. Unfortunately, there is a balance in this world with good and bad, Einstein and not. You get the picture. You know what, this is the best time to start a business - iPhone X sales gives us hope lol

I don’t watch a lot of video on my phone except for occasional sports highlight. Screen is too small to enjoy it for me. Reason I own an iPad mini.

I live in NYC and only seen maybe two people wearing them out in public.
I live in nyc and see them in the subway all the time not to a lot of my coworkers have started buying them after seeing me with mine

I like mine a lot when they actually work properly. Too bad the sound stutters/cuts out whenever I'm listening to music and waiting at a crosswalk for the light to change. And when you live in a big city and get almost everywhere by walking, that's basically every other minute.
I live in nyc and don’t have this problem

Best Apple product in years!

Totally agree. I decided to buy the moment i saw the presentation. Its one more thing that goes in my pocket whenever step outside.
[doublepost=1512413873][/doublepost]Though i think something wrong with the battery information it send to iPhone. Even after charging for 1hr the percentage still showed 7%. And after few days it showed 4%. rest of the thing functions as usual.

For some people like me, in ear headsets are a horrible design. Apple Earpods design is far more comfortable, even though they have tendency to slip out of my ears, for that reason I augment them with silicone covers with hooks.

There are plenty of in-ear headphones on the market and for some people, myself included, it's tiring to have headphones plugging your ear canal for anything other than a short period of time - so the open ear design of the AirPods is a better design imho. I've also got over the ear noise canceling headphones for when I actually want to block any outside noises and their sonic performance is going to be night and day better than any tiny in-ear headsets could ever hope for.
Couldn't agree more on the ear canal headphones being uncomfortable and the limited acoustic performance of tiny diaphragms.

It's almost as if Apple found a way to replace the iPod revenue stream in the era of phones. AirPods alone cost more than the most popular iPod nano did in its day.

And considering they cost half as much as the average Apple Watch, and are in far greater demand, guess which segment of the "Other" pie chart is driving the increase?

Yes it was a joke/sarcasm. Sorry just one of many people pointing out that Apple have fixed something that didn't need fixing. I don't want to charge my headphones, I just want them to work. If they come up with wireless headphones that don't need charging and sound anywhere near as good as cheap noise cancelling wired headphones, I might give them a try. Until then, just an unnecessary gimmick. Sound quality is not something you sacrifice (especially for $169.)

Wireless pods that don’t require charging... you might be waiting awhile while they invent a miniature perpetual motion generator that fits inside the pods.

Maybe you have an idea about how to make something that is cordless, requires batteries and doesn’t require charging?

Maybe the pods could use the heat generated from inside the ear canal to charge?

Not much more you can give earbuds when u have already given it a convenient way to connect..

Apple just dived into this one here without leaving head room. Perhaps making them sound better than they already do, but apart from that how else can you improve them over the flip top and it connects. ?

Your Post is a disingenuous response to that member and frankly shows how bitter you are with others content with the Airpods. I understand you're not in support of the 3.5 Jack being removed. But the reality is, the success of the Airpods is a separate entity. I believe if the Jack still existed, the Airpods would still be a successful Product regardless because of the simplicity and ease of pairing, Freedom of wires and battery life.

But the fact is, the 3.5 Jack is gone and you have Alternatives without the need to be dismissive of others posts. I commend Apple for the Airpods, even if Bluetooth does not have the sound as wired headphones do, the features with the Airpods trumps wired headphones for me.
Wireless technology can exist with wired technology. They needn't be mutually exclusive, unless you purchase a iPhone later than the 6S. The 3.5 jack isn't gone except on current iPhones. Even Apple still puts it on Macs. Lack of the jack is an Ive feature. I have an LG V20 which can do both wired and wireless technologies - difference being that the 4 channel DAC only works with the NOTgone 3.5 mm jack. Your enjoyment of Airpods should not be to the exclusion of those of us with $300+ top of the line headphones. To each their own.

love my airpods. sure, the built quality could be better - the seam between the two halves of each airpod became pretty visible after the first half hour of usage - i‘m also able to feel it with my fingernail. plus the magnets in the case attract tiny metal particles in my pocket up to the point that they’re so stuck, you can‘t get rid of them anymore without scratching them off. i guess that‘s unavoidable but could be mitigated with darker colors.

some additional interface (e.g. triple tap) would be nice, especially for people who don‘t own an apple watch. sometimes i wish, siri would at least understand „volume up“ without an internet connection. the case could also have a bit more grip imho, it already slipped out of my pocket a few times. and, maybe future airpods could use both microphones at the same time for even better sound. oh, and water resistance would be nice. and better sound-quality than bluetooth of course, but that goes without saying.

still they are quite great. staying secure in my ear (but i wouldn‘t dare wear them while snowboarding), great battery life, nice charging case, switching between apple devices without disconnecting and repairing (although it could be faster) and just the freedom of not having a cable.

now they just have to not break or get lost for at least three years to justify the rather high price tag (unlike my powerbeats where the plastic of one earpiece broke after a year).
[doublepost=1512424851][/doublepost]
But they don’t have the W1 chip. The easy switching between Apple devices is the killer feature that I can’t imagine not having. Only having to use one kind of charging cable helps, too.

faster switching, even smaller and lighter, better built quality, better sound quality, different colors, better mics, an additional interface (touch stripe volume or triple-tap), water-proof, better accelerometer to give your iphone/ar device more information about your head and body movements, pulse measuring, body temperature measuring,... imho there’s still some headroom left.
[doublepost=1512425527][/doublepost]
I whish that what you’re saying would also be the case with the HomePod...

yeah, but the homepod is a speaker for audio playback first and foremost, and they already did that in 2006 with the ipod hifi. it‘s probably not going to compete with the echo or google home, because those are not very good speakers, but interfaces to much more capable voice assistants than siri.

it‘s imagineable to put echo dots or home minis in every room of your home at $29 apiece, but only a few rich people will buy more than 1-2 $349 decices that maybe won‘t work with the remote-widget on your phone five years down the line. ( e.g. like the apple-tv 3g )

Costco had these for $20 off this week so I bought a pair. I actually like my Bose SoundSports wired earphones better for comfort, stability and sound. Obviously there are lots of wireless earphones out there. The Airpod charging case is a cool idea. Hate the white color.

You can buy the bat wing things like the Bose SoundSports come with but then you have to take them off each time to put the Airpods back in the case to charge them. Not realistic. The W1 chip seems flaky on my iphone 7 and ipad pro. At times the Airpods are not connected (when taken from case and put in ears) and I have to select them in the bluetooth settings like any other BT device. Sound has cut out a couple times on both devices this past week as well. On the ipad had to go back into bt and select Airpods again, etc.

Ultimately is the comfort that I'm not happy with, so will probably just go back to Bose.

Comfort is a big deal when listening to music. I really don't like earbuds, as they always seem to fall out of my ears. I want a great headphone with ventilation and fine sound. I can get that option with fine wired headphones. I used to be able to do that with iPhones. I can't do that any longer. I am pleased by my 6s plus. It runs iOS, talks with my iMac and iPad, and has a jack for my headphones. It is becoming out-of-date, and Apple gives me no alternative for sound other than switching to Android. They made a business decision, and hence, lost my business with phones. That is sad for both Apple and me. I prefer iOS to Android, but I love my music even more. Cheers, more beers.

I'm starting to think it must be a problem with my phone and not the airpods considering Apple has already replaced the airpods twice while trying to fix the problem.

I’ve owned the noise cancellation Bose QuiteControl 30 wireless in-ear headphones for about a year and though they are nice the neck band is something to be desired. It doesn’t stay in the middle back of your neck. It constantly shifts heavenly to o e side or he other. It noise cancellation works well but having to adjust the neck band didn’t work for me.

I'm surprised that so many wireless earphones come with hard-backed yokes. RHA have an excellent two-earphone line up: MH650 and MH750, both of which sound great, and despite being yoked, are tethered by soft, coil-able cable, making it stay in place well and feeling light as well as not bothering shirt collars. They hiss a bit, which is a shame, but so do the AirPods.

Do tell, which areas? It's not funny how fast the competition has in fact caught up in many areas and very very not funny how iOS and macOS are buggier than ever.... :(

What Apple does best: take an emerging product category with a frustrating user experience and deliver a polished product made possible by its control over both the hardware and software.

Other companies may be better in one area or another, but the end experience is rarely truly better as a result. Take the Airpods for example. It’s easy to point out how some other competing product beats it in one specific area or another, but again, it’s often cancelled out by some equally debilitating flaw in other areas. It’s not hard to see how the various design choices and compromises of the Airpods all come together to offer the user experience it does, and I think it says a lot that no other product even comes close to offering what it does.

That to me is the fundamental problem with this forum. The critics are choosing to fixate on individual bugs and perceived missteps in a vacuum, rather than choose to evaluate them holistically within the greater context of Apple’s achievements and accomplishments. No wonder the mood here is perennially salty and cantankerous.
