True, but Kuo's sources are likely in China so the fact that we haven't heard this rumor from him doesn't mean it's not true. Kuo's track record actually is only mediocre anyway...

You don’t think an iPhone SE update would involve suppliers, assembly, testing, or integration in China?

Mediocre in the sense he predicted iPhone X to launch in three colors, when only two showed up? When it comes to the big things, he gets them all correct.

Big hands. Plus was the first iphone I didnt have to curl my hand/fingers into weird angles to type comfortably. When I recently held an X i flashed back to those horrible times and instantly realized i couldnt go back to something that didnt fit ME well. Totally get if you have small man hands you want something a bit more petit, I would love a bigger Plus if possible!

My hands are not small, but I just want something that fits in my pocket. I miss the days of super thin flip phones, but texting is almost impossible on those.

It's going to suck if they release a 6.5 inch version because A) it will be way too big to use with one hand, especially with a case, which you will need because B) it will be way too expensive, and the final reason it's going to suck is because the screen is going to be great for web browsing and video watching so I will be tempted to pay way more than I should and deal with an unwieldy phone just for that huge screen.

My predictions

iPhone 11/X1 Plus or Pro - $1100+
iPhone 11/X1 - $900+
iPhone 9 - $700+

4.7" models gone for good. The iPhone 8 will be the last of its kind in that form factor. Apple will compromise the smaller X again or just offer the best stuff on the Plus. Wish they could learn from Google.

Gawd, Apple. Please don't call it Ten-Es. It's fine if Apple wanted to call the X the Ten this year to honor the original iPhone. But they have the choice to eliminate that stupid "s" naming next year and either name it numerically like iPhone 11, 12, 13, or create an X-brand with the X1.

When the HTC One was released in 2013, we didn't call it M7 yet. It wasn't until the M8 was released was when we refer to it as the M7. And there were previous Ones before the M7 like One X and One S. It's like the first iPhone. We refer to it as 2G or OG.

It's like World War I. There was no World War II yet, so people during the time WW1 happened just called it The Great War.

Not sure why Apple is causing confusion to the iPhone line for consumers and developers. Keep it simple, use the present physical size of the SE, 8 and Plus and just increase the display size with notch. I am not certain there is anything to gain by increasing the resolution other than hamper battery life.

I find the X a tad tall, or have a UX option to access notifications and command centre from the bottom. The hardware lineup and UX is becoming a mess. I though Apple championed the human design interface for simplicity, it seems recently their are following in competitors footsteps and just throwing anything at the market to see what sticks, shameful. o_O:eek::p

So no current phone maker has been able to implement such a design?

Mass production began in June 2017. Everyone is under NDA.

But I’m sure JDI is producing thin bezel displays so they can dump them in the landfill. Because no one announced a phone yet. o_O

WTF?!? Bigger?! A smaller model is what we need!

I would quite happily go back to LCD (I honestly don’t see much difference in resolution or contrast going from my 7 to X, while I see significant colour change when viewing at an angle such as having the phone on the desk), especially if the price drops, but not if it makes the damn thing bigger!

I'd rather have a plus size and shaped screen with smaller bezels resulting in a shorter phone, than a taller plus screen in the same size phone.

It really upsets me that the 6.1” model will be a lower tier. After using my X it’s clear that the best size for this phone is somewhere between the normal a Plus sized iPhones. This would be awesome news, though, if the only difference between the models was the LCD or OLED display.

I actually wonder if the price of the OLED display played a role in the sizing of this model. A larger OLED display would be more expensive, so that might be why they went with 5.8” and no Plus model this year. Regardless, I want a full featured 6.1” iPhone X.

I hate how many different models Apple are creating, I miss when they had just one type.

For the normal iPhone user it must be so confusing lol
Imagine how hard it is for a "normal" person to buy a TV or a washing machine, or a car. Why can't they just have one car, with the same features, for everyone?

A 6.1” LCD model? Bull... they will. KGI have just made this all up based in obvious facts, not inside information, they got so much wrong over the X predictions in the beginning it wasn’t worth reading stories of what they predicted!

Apple will launch an updated X and a bigger then 6.5” Plus model. And that will start from £1200, and considering how many are buying the X Apple will sell them too.

Not worth reading your comment, since you’ve provided zero evidence how KGI was wrong about X predictions.

Seems odd that they'd have both a 5.8" and a 6.1" display. If this is accurate, my wife might need to start getting used to the idea that they probably aren't going to be making a phone as small as the SE again.
Oh, I don't know about that. Apple seemed to be surprised at the demand/market for the SE sized phone. I would guess the SE has another refresh in the same form factor and then in, say, three years Apple puts the OLED etc. into that same size. Now that is a phone I would buy. I hope my 6s lasts that long. :D

LCD can’t possibly be as close to the bezel as OLED, right?
Not sure about round corners (maybe just masking?).

Something like the notch wouldn't be possible with current LCD tech.
The corners on the other hand would be.
Taking away from the outer end is fine, taking away pixels from the inside would kill off the rest of the pixels in the same line.

How would you have designed it? Larger bezels all the way around? Top and bottom chins? Interested in your opinion.
Thanks for asking. I don't claim to have the answers, but I have these suggestions.

Ultra low profile symmetrical top and bottom chins to house the sensors.
No asymmetry on the display, ever.
Keep the curved corners if necessary.

Alternatively, a complete break from the past would be to go extremely sharp edges front on with square corners, with curves that contain the sensors which fold over and under the top and bottom.

All I know is a notch does not work for iOS11, it doesn't work for developers, and most of all it doesn't work for customers. It's too much of a compromise. The notch design is effectively a bunch of dead pixels at the top of the screen. The status bar is effectively pointless, completely useless and really not intuitive.

On a related note, parts of these lines has me thinking.

The 6.1inch LCD sounds like a really weird choice. I 100% believe an X Plus is coming but this other one sounds weird.

Very much looking forward to a bigger phone. Love the plus form factor. Makes typing much easier, allows tabs and split views in landscape, and allows bigger fonts for those of us with old eyes.

Another solid prediction by Kuo.

Not even two weeks have passed since the X was launched.

It looks like Apple seriously wants to prevent the bottleneck they experienced this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if:

6.4” OLED = Samsung
5.8” OLED = LG
6.1” LCD = JDI and Sharp

Apple wants a LG-made OLED panel as much as Samsung wants a phone engineered by the Note 7 team.
