Seems odd that they'd have both a 5.8" and a 6.1" display. If this is accurate, my wife might need to start getting used to the idea that they probably aren't going to be making a phone as small as the SE again.
People actually think the notch is going awaythe notch is iconic
and for this reason will be known what is an iPhone and what isn't.
The war's been over for some time now. There were only two survivors. As far as choice is concerned, that may suck, but it's reality.
I really don't care what material is used, as long as its as light and thin as the 7 form factor. You should have written, I am hoping that one day Apple will be able to design and manufacture an iPhone with a glass back that is the same weight and thickness of the iPhone X.
Because the glass is the issue. Now maybe they change the back to a different material so it can be lighter and thinner but it won't be the iPhone X of today. Apple loves thin and light so this is the best they could do. I can't see them using these materials making it as thin and light for years and years.
Which phone is that? Is it able to be mass produced on Apple's level? Just because it can be accomplished, doesn't mean it's actually feasible in the marketplace.
In his latest research note, obtained by MacRumors, Kuo said the 6.1-inch model will have a lower-resolution LCD display and target the low-end and mid-range markets with an estimated $649 to $749 starting price in the United States.
True, but Kuo's sources are likely in China so the fact that we haven't heard this rumor from him doesn't mean it's not true. Kuo's track record actually is only mediocre anyway...None of those rumors are credible, i.e. not Kuo or Bloomberg.
I love how $649-$749 is now considered "low-end & midrange"![]()
I can understand women liking the larger phones because they have purses. I cannot understand guys wanting a huge phone. Where the hell do you put it when you're walking around? The iPhone 6 is bad enough for me. I can't imagine the Plus versions or the large phones mentioned in today's report.
Sounds like a grand for a phone is the new norm. Crazy. Now they lock you in for the data and the hardware. Payments in perpetuity for that thing we can't live without. I'm guilty. But can't help but recognize the system we're sucked into.
What I'd really like is an iPhone SE X (may need to rethink the name)--an edge-to-edge design in a smaller iPhone SE form factor.
IPS-LCD, yes. (Love my 7 Plus.) TFT-LCD, meh. Hope that part's not true.
That’s a rebuttal I would expect from an Apple competitor.
JDI developed LTPS LCD for Apple so it would match OLED performance back during iPhone 4. Apple has invested plenty in JDI over the years.
Neither the notch nor the TrueDepth camera were thought to be feasible a year ago.
Why should you miss out on the irritation felt by all those who would love to have the better camera but don't want to use the plus sized phone. You don't really believe it was that Apple couldn't possibly fit the better camera in the non plus sized phone do you? That's fine if Apple wants to make a larger one and charge more for it.
But there needs to be feature-parity across the OLED models. After the X, no one is going to buy the argument that some special camera improvement can only be unique to the 6.5" model.
I only ever bought the Plus models for the camera, and I'm ecstatic that the X has come down to reality with a usable size AND all of the hardware Apple can dish out.
I'm never, ever going to buy a 6.5" iPhone and I will be extremely irritated if I'm missing out on camera or other hardware features because Apple chose to make them unique to the "premium" model.
I LOVE when people think they can design better...
When you ask what the phone should've looked like; they describe a generic Android-slab, bezeled phone![]()
iPad Mini-sized phone?
It seems Apple can't use metal because of the "wireless" charging, and they won't use plastic so… back to the long long long wait.I really don't care what material is used, as long as its as light and thin as the 7 form factor.
