Man... Apple is blowing it with the iPhones.

People will stop buying them if these are the only options and prices.

What advantage does 1cm more of screen at the bottom give you? They are trying to make a full screen face but the notch ruins it. Therefore, don't do it.

Just leave the home button and touch ID an option. Or people will change devices.

If a fugly design awards existed, this would win

Lol..Yeah thats really the only thing I saw when looking at the picture, it draws you to it...And not in a good way

Full Screen display†

Will always need that footnote with the notch, because it is NOT really full screen until they can eliminate the notch. And you KNOW Apple will backpedal, and switch back to Touch ID once someone else figure out how to embed under the display. They just don’t have the balls to admit they weren’t smart enough. Qualcomm has figured it out, but WILL not be sharing it with Apple.

Yes - I thought precisely this from the moment the X was launched with a notch. I don't know about the Qualcomm stuff, but boy did Apple want a proper full display for the X with no button on the back and no bezels. It's obvious, surely. To use the oft-said line, "Jobs would have said... now go and give me that without the notch obscuring the part of the screen."

Meh.

Buy X. Sell it. Buy X Plus.

Best of all worlds.

I bought the X.
Best phone I have ever owned.

Will sell it next year and get the X Plus and get the best phone experience ever TODAY and for another 364 days while others wait.

The best experience FOR YOU today, everyone doesn't want a first gen product with an fugly notch, weird gestures, and messed up ios, among other problems, even if they can afford it, I have had two friends return theirs, I've played with it and didn't care for it either, but glad you like yours

6.5" is already close to Nexus 7 tablet territory. I can already imagine the current X owners feeling a little bummed if the 5.8" only gets 3 GB of RAM while the 6.5" gets 4 like the recent iPads.

Bare minimum $1099
More RAM up to 4 or even 6!
Higher resolution / ppi
Longest battery endurance again
Might add split-view and PiP like on iPads

Enjoy having the best iPhone for another ten months, X owners. Apple is thinking like Samsung now.

BIGGER = BETTER
BIGGER = MORE $$$$
MORE FEATURES = HIGHER PRICE

I think the best we can hope for is:
LCD 6.1” - $699
OLED 5.8” - $899
OLED 6.5” - $1099
If they do make the 5.8” cheaper than it is now, though, what will the current X cost next year?
My guess, and it is just a guess but it’s fun:

2018 X Plus-$1049
2018 X - $949 feature parity with Plus
2017 X - $849
6.1” LCD - $799, like usual new Plus models. No notch but rounded corners, somewhat smaller bezels, keeps 16:9 so same physical size as 8 Plus
8 Plus - $699
8 - $599
7 Plus - $579
7 - $449
SE II - $349 A10 CPU
iPad mini 5-$399 A11 with few other changes. Sell it for another 3 years. Yeah, I still believe in the mini lol.

Why would anyone be "bummed" if the iPhone X got 3GB of RAM and iPhone X+ got 4? The only real reason for more RAM would be driving the higher resolution display with acceptable performance.

In regular performance it's highly unlikely that an iPhone user could detect the difference. It's hard enough for people to detect the hardware CPU/GPU/RAM differences between iPhone 7 and iPhone 8.

I can also imagine lots of things but people being bummed about specs that 99% of the population doesn't actually understand isn't one of them.

I am well aware of the popularity of the the larger phones success, thanks.:) Being in the minority is just fine. I have a 7+ and it is too much iPhone for me. I barely use the camera etc. and I refuse to pay $1k or more again for features I do not need or use. Yes, the SE’s screen needs an upgrade and if it gets one without a price hike, I will go smaller.

Enjoy your X. :)
Next year the 8 will be $599, and is definitely smaller than your 7 Plus. I do think the SE will be refreshed with an A10, but since it occupies the lowest price tier at $349 I wouldn’t expect a screen upgrade this Spring.

Man, that 6.5" iPhone is going to be tall. The current Note8 has 6.3" but is 162.5 mm in height. I can't carry a phone like that inside a holster case positioned horizontally. It's why the current X appeals to me so much. It's 5" Pixel size, HTC One M8/M9, and the Galaxy S7 flat.

Like I said, I can roll with phablet size. I'm typing on my (159 mm in height) V20 right now. What's a measly 4 mm more? I love typing on it and it's my go-to phone for multimedia and split-view at home. But I can't carry it with me while I work.

I don't mind the size but I have a limit. That's why the Pixel 2 XL and Note8 doesn't appeal to me. Too tall. Below 140-145 mm is good for me. I can imagine the iPhone XL will be similarly sized as the current Note8 but the top and bottom will be smaller like the X is.

iPhone X = Galaxy S6/S7 flat
iPhone Xs Plus = Galaxy Note8

Note8 size is too tall.

I'm waiting for the iPhone SE-X by March 2020. OLED. Uses the A12 chip from next year's. Under $500. More manageable size like Nexus 4 height but with a 5.2" screen. SE2 will be more like the iPhone 8 mini with 7's specs.

Best way to save money? Avoid being an early adopter and don't fall prey to the mindset that BIGGER = BETTER. Sometimes what others will say is the best isn't the best for you.

I won't be surprised to a see a Plus sized OLED model. But everything in between I am doubtful. What I would like to see is ProMotion, I feel that my iPhone X has a bit of ghosting which is too noticeable compared to the ghosting on the 7+, which is barely imperceptible.

And one more thing... the notch needs to go. While it's a good compromise for the branding of an Apple device, it's an ugly design aesthetic.

Or at least have space for the battery percentage on the main screen without having to pull down for the control center. Knowing Apple, this design will be here to stay for awhile.

Finally! I’ve been waiting for an iPhone X Plus since the original iPhone X came out (my X is really getting long in the tooth). I wish it would hurry up and be September (or whenever this is releasing) of next year already.

Holy fudge !!... 6.5 inches in a phone?

Say hello to Big brother.

I wonder if this means the bigger the display, the more set backs.

What don’t you like about it? I love mine but I’m coming from the 4S since it had to be laid to rest. ;(

I'm sold on the Plus iPhone X, but I don't think I can justify it if it's $1500+, which I fear it will be.
Damn, it's quite possible The X+ with 256GB can fetch that price.
That's insane. Since I just got last Xmas my 7+, I'll wait until late 2018/early 19 where we will see probably promos from carriers and the phone will be cheaper or heavily discounted with plans commitment, like if you buy 2 for the price of one . By then the novelty of the X will wear off.

I'm excited, but lawd, that price is going to be EXPENSIVE!

How many body parts do we have to give to get the 6.5-inch iPhone? That's easily $1399 base.
That price would be fine. I’ll just upgrade every other year instead of every year. :D

The new iPad pros, in my opinion, have the best displays of any lightweight portable. The new MacBooks have the best in a laptop. Both are LCD. The new iPhones display is better than the other iPhones but for me the iPad and MacBook are still leagues ahead.

Until you try to use them in sunlight, then they aren't so great.

Still feel that the notch on the larger version would need to be smaller comparatively. The setup doesn’t need to be bigger just because the phone is bigger, so the notch could be smaller.

4 to 5 years from now iphone will be 20inches LOL!!!:D:D now clothes company should built a long and deep pocket to fit the iphone 20 inch
