At this point I don´t know if I more mad with Apple, or with the people that think Apple cares about customers and they created a low storage "cheap" version of their device for people who do not need the storage space.

With all this stupidity I understand now why companies do this kind of things. Maybe we deserve it.

if you dont like it , dont buy it .... this is how apple way ...........

Don't buy it then.

It is entry level, nuff said. Apple's entry level is often the barest MINIMUM of what a user needs in real use. Apple still sells Macbooks with just 4gig of RAM - sigh; you need 8-16 for best user experience---4 gigs is about booting up and surfing the web. Minimum is fine for grandma who doesn't install apps but a poor user experience for most people who like and use tech.

I am frankly upset at the lost of 32 gigs. This is calculated, a blatant upsell. I was planning on upgrading from my 32 gig 5s to a iPhone 6s but won't now. I don't have the cash for 64 gigs. I am fine with keeping my cash --- but hey, the emperor clearly is showing his goosebumps. This is crap and I hope other consumers spank Apple for such a greedy, anti-consumer move. People who buy 64 gigs and don't need it are fools.

I guess they'll get 100€ more from me...for the 64gb. I need more space than 16 and would be a waste to buy the 16 with a 12Mpx 4k camera. However this behaviour makes me sick; so here's what I'm going to do:
i planned to subscribe to Apple Music (120€ per year)...well, the money I'll spend for the 64gb will be the money I won't spend for Apple Music, sticking with the free (with ads) spotify and youtube, after my trial expires.
And boy, I'll make sure to tell them:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/

If you are annoyed like me you can do the same...just an idea. ;)

Was really hoping not to have to drop another $100 this go around to have a usable device (I haven't been able to live with 16gb for the last 3+ years). I would even settle for a $50 price hike for the 32gb. Oh well. Apple wins. Again.

You're not wrong, but I've read many articles stating that, for thebfirstntime, apple's second tier device (64gb) has been almost equal in sales numbers to their entry model. In other words, consumers are forking out that cash, and Apple is reaping the benefits.

I agree that if consumers just said no, we might see change. Unfortunately people aren't do that, at least not with the 6 and 6 plus.

I would imagine that Applemprodited off of the 100 additional for extra storage than they did for the streaming service they lost out on. And so did you. Apple music just isn't up to snuff with the competition.

Don't buy the 64 gigs if you don't need it. Let this upsell hit Apple's profits or they will keep on doing this to us. They won't get my money til they sell me what I want and need: 32 gigs.

I agree that if consumers just said no, we might see change. Unfortunately people aren't do that, at least not with the 6 and 6 plus.

Vote with your pocketbook. If you let them exploit you, they will do it again and again. Then you deserve whatever you get, folks.

I am firing the first salvo: I am sitting this out and keeping my money. That is NEVER the wrong choice. Never.

Again, you're not wrong. But this is just not going to happen if history repeats itself as it often does. I can be as proud as I want about not buying a new device. It's still going to sell out for months. Count on it.

Would it really hurt apple to spend the extra $3 to go from 16gb to 32gb?

It would. Millions of people would decide not to pay an extra $100 because for many 32gb is enough. That's hundreds of millions of dollars in pure profit.

I'm all for companies pricing to maximize profit and offering different service levels, but not when it arbitrarily disadvantages the lower end customers. In my industry that's an ethical violation.

It would be better for everyone if Apple used the pricing strategy for the Watch on the iPhone.

If they weren't buying based on storage capacity, there would be no need for the 64gb and 128gb models. Everyone would be buying 16s.

Only some people strongly want 128GB models, not all of them. There are multiple models because not everyone's priorities are the same. What is largely flawed is the perception that the segment of folks who are OK with 16GB is very small. It is not.

Samsung finally woke up to what Apple was doing and took out the SD card slots and went with non-removable batteries and non-upgradable memory.

This is missing alot context. We'll see over time, but Samsung skipped putting in a flash controller for older slower flash in favor of putting in a newer controller for newer faster flash. There is nothing to talk to SD cards in their "hurry to market" 64 bit SoC implementation.

Thankfully the others haven't done this.

We'll see when other folks make the transition. And Samsung may add it back in their next generation SoC implementation.

A 128gb SD card on Amazon is $60. So a person can get about 150gb on a regular Android phone. Meanwhile Apple is charging $100 to go from 64gb to 128gb. Pretty much pure profit.

Vast majority of discount SD cards are not using the same type of Flash memory. All Flash isn't the same. They are variances in read/write speeds and in endurance.

Relatively ( to SSDs ) speaking SD cards are dog slow. It is cheaper but it is also slower. Bulk storage of photos/videos that you don't look at often. They are decent option. But as primary storage for OS/Apps... not so much. Long term storage of media not used all that often is even cheaper on HDDs.

16's more than enough, i've never gone past 60% capacity i don't understand why people need 64 and 128 on a damn phone, there's just no need.

those are the ones that stay glued to it and are anti-social imo

Apple apologists truly are annoying. I have many friends who can't update their phones or even receive picture text messages because they're out of storage. They can't take pictures. They can't record video. What a great experience.

Some people keep their music on their phones because they don't have an unlimited data connection. Shocker. Some people store video on their phones so they can watch a movie/TV show on the bus or train.

These points have been made over and over again. Apologizing for Apple does you no good as a consumer, so I'll just assume you own Apple stock and are full of yourself. End rant.

This is not really surprising. Many business and entry level users don't need more than 16Gb and it keeps costs down. One thing that irks me though is that they do not include a 32Gb version. By now it should cost the same as a 16Gb chip 4 years ago, so they could (if they would be willing to take the profitability hit) make the base model 16Gb 50$ cheaper and the 32Gb model at the current entry price. But I guess Apple is not willing to do that. A pity.

Dude, it's a single chip, its not like a whole freakin board is different for larger capacities...

and I bet it costs apple just a few bucks....

16GB is just ridiculous in a device that the OS takes up like 3-4GB and memory is non upgradeable.

It is foolish to care about what fools do. If Apple isn't selling the products you don't want, DON'T BUY THEM. Don't let market reports tell you what to buy. Are you a man or a sheep?

I am happy with my 32-gig 5s and would be UNHAPPY with a 16-gig 6s and can't afford a 64-gig 6s. Honestly, this is simple for me. They don't sell what I need. Keeping your money is always a great choice. I have lots of things to spend my money on. But following the crowds to keep up is just foolish.

I don't see why they can't offer 4 size models.

16 GB - $199
32 GB - $249
64 GB - $299
128 GB - $399

And so on. This would be in line with how android manufacturers price their phones (see the new Moto X). But who knows. They could do this, and they may. This might get more people to go for a 32 GB model instead of sticking with the 16 GB, which might make Apple more money. I'll still go 128. I'm a storage addict.

There is still a 16GB model because Apple is super business smart. They know 16GB is totally insufficient in the current generation devices, but they also know that 32GB is fine. The problem then is that if they provided 32GB in the entry model, they would sell, not just a few fewer 64GB models, but orders of magnitude fewer 64GB models.

By artificially limiting the entry model to 16GB, they don't just have "up-sell" incentive, they force the "up-sell" because the customer doesn't want a crippled device. This approach contributes significantly to Apple's cushy profit margins (considering the actual cost difference between 16 and 64GB is less than $10 - probably half that with their volume purchases) and the fantastic revenues the stock holders love to see.

What Apple's "business smarts" are blind to is the fact that this behavior (product offerings) breeds resentment instead of loyalty.

Read my post above. Find a non essential Apple product/service that you were planning to buy and get it from the competition: example: cloud space, Apple Music vs Spotify, router etc. Then let them know at apple.com/feedback that the money they got from you for the 64gb is the money they lost somewhere else. Money gone to Google/Dropbox/Spotify/nobody. They only understand money, so talk money
