I just received mine (red version) today at work. After seeing it in the plastic I debated with myself for a while whether I should open it; the look through the plastic was very cheap. I decided at $20 even if it did look cheap it could still protect my iPad until I got something better, so I decided to go ahead and open it.

It still looks cheap, but it is serviceable. The fit around the cutouts is quite nice, but the top cover does note extend quite all the way to the edge, and it does not lie flat (this may improve with time. The magnet is almost non-existent (does it really have one?) but the automatic on/off function seems to work every time.

Overall I am pleased with this case. It seems to be a good budget replacement for the Apple smart cover plus a back cover at less than half the price. I will use it until I can get a nicer looking case (it just does not do justice to the sleek iPad within).

Believe it or not, I had a Speck Smartshell and a Smart cover (total $114), then tried a SmartSuit2, and returned them all in favor of the Khomo.

I absolutely cannot believe how horrible many of these iPad cases are. For $70+ I expect PERFECTION, instead these cases felt awful in the hand due to sharp edges, or in the case of the SmartSuit, the cover constantly moved around and woke the iPad from sleep, its magnet even worse than the Khomo if you can believe it. Sheesh.

Only the Khomo felt smooth enough to hold, but when you stand it up in landscape, its built-in cover tends to slip a notch, making the stand a bit more unstable than it should be. I'm also using a piece of velcro to keep the cover in place when I fold it back. It's not ideal, but for $20 it's certainly a crap's wort better than the ridiculous $70+ solutions. Unreal.

I noticed that as well. I never stand it up because it seems a bit unstable. It is amazing how much people actually are willing to spend on Ipad cases. $20 seems inexpensive compared to other cases, but $20 still seems like a lot of money for a piece of plastic that probably cost under a buck to make.

When the iPad 3 comes out, all these iPad 2 cases will be in the dollar store!

Better than apple smart cover plus back cover case
Check out the Khomo dual iPad 2 case. It has the smart cover front and the super thin snap on rubberized back cover, all in 1 case.

Someone gave me one and I am hooked $19.99 on amazon can not be beat.

This is a fantastic case, and as picky as I am, I see no downside yet.

Just received the all-white one in the mail. Fits and looks great. And it closes aligned and straight with the sleep function being flawless.

But some of the functionality isn't so great. It falls open really easily (when upside down). When folded all the way back, it feels loose and awkward to hold (but not really bad, just making an observation). And it is not at all sturdy when standing up.

and

I have been using this case heavily for the last 3 -4 days and it still is a great case for $20. I wish the magnets were stronger and the hinge part causes the front cover to not lie flat like a hinged smart cover. The magnets are not strong enuf so the auto on off feature is hit or miss and if the cover moves, it triggers the ipad back on. No matter, I just turn off that feature and shut it off with the power switch when I close it. I have no problem folding it all the way back when using it or curling it up and holding onto it that way. Fitting around the ipad is perfect and the back hardness is done well.

but yet i don't see you blasting Khomo is this maybe personal?

I'm not claiming this case is anything more than it is. It isn't perfect and does have some faults . It is a cheap $20 case that looks nice for the price and for the most part functions like it should. Sure I posted some downside to the case. If I had an interest in it I certainly wouldn't have done that now would I?

You spend a lot of time on a thread about a case that you haven't even put your hands on. Seems to me that most people who purchased on feel they got their money's worth.
If not, they can return it.
Doesn't affect me in the least.

and you are spending a lot of time degrading a good seller with good products and spending the whole day taking every post and turning into a personal vendeta against someone who doesn't have a chance to defend themselves. You are also taking your experience with one case and saying that they all are crappy and cheap when in fact they have many positive reviews and lots of people like them. Granted everyone has there own opinions but you have taken this too far and need to stop. You said you had nothing against this seller but yet you have devoted 2 days to destroying his credibility.

Wow. Im surprised you haven't been banned yet. Promoting your products by posing as an unbiased customer is unethical. Attacking another poster for stating their opinion reaches another level.

Personally I'm of the opinion enough is enough, this thread and other's have just turned into personal unconstructive slanging matches. Maybe you guys should take your issues offline.

My thoughts exactly. And I also received an email from Tabiths's seller asking me to stop trashing his products on this forum. Now I get emails from someone who was banned from here ??

Tabitha is the seller. No doubt.

Well, I will try to get this thread back to the main topic.

I received my Khomo case a couple of days ago. I have to say that I am totally surprised at how well made it is, especially for the price. Yes, it's all plastic, but the material has just the right amount of hardness, nice and smooth to the touch and yet has a good enough grip. Most important to me, both the case and attached cover are thin and light. The cutouts for all the switches and ports have straight and smooth edges. The iPad snapped perfectly and securely into the case. All the cutouts lined up well with their counterparts on the iPad.

The cover magnets seem to be strong on my unit, because it stayed closed very well, even when upside down while holding on the other side of the cover. The on/off feature also worked fine for me.

The cover lies fairly flat when closed. The outer edge ends just a little to the inside of the bottom case. So while that makes it smooth to hold, it's a little hard to lift the cover up to open. My solution is to lift the cover just above the power port where there's plenty of room.

I originally wanted to go the minimal route with my iPad with just the Smart Cover and a titanium skin from stickerboy. After two weeks with the Smart Cover, I returned it. I couldn't stand the constant lines of dust on the screen and the way the edges cut into my hands when holding it folded back. This cover has a similar edge but it's quite a bit softer and more flexible then the Smart Cover. I still have to wait and see if the dust problem shows up though.

The only thing left is to make the cover stay up when folded back. I used a strip of 3M EMC absorber tape and stick it on the inside of the bottom case towards the front edge. The tape is only 0.2mm thin, so it didn't cause any problems with the iPad snapping back in to the case.

Viola, the cover now holds in place when folded back. I can now read while grabbing it only on one side in the vertical position and it will stay up. In the horizontal position, it will also stay up in the up or down position as long as I am grabbing on to any part of the cover. The magnetic hold here is not as strong as on the front side, it will drop with a small shake, but for all practical purposes, it works well enough.

Time will tell if this case will hold up, but for the price, it's almost disposable. For the moment, I am enjoying it.

nice review - still the best thing I can find for the buck...loving my red and black one....I think if it had about .5mm more "spine" material, it would lay perfectly flat all the time...

Well you were banned once but somehow managed to slither back in. You're not promoting your products? Please. Do you think we're f*king idiots? You joined in July, have 180 posts, and well over 50% of them are about Chinao and Yoobao...ipad cases, macbook cases, screen protectors, batteries, etc. You post chinao-usa coupons (oh and most of those were removed thanks to me) , and now you've added a link right to (previously banned for spamming) Kevin's site in your sig.

And you even admit to spamming in this post...

Funny how when someone tries to muscle in on your turf, you go from sexytabitha to grumpyspammer.

How you haven't been banned again is beyond me. Don't think for a second that people aren't on to you. And when you do get banned again, don't bother coming back...we can smell you a mile away...the perume you're using to hide the fact that you're a dude really reeks.

You pretty much just described exactly why Kevin was banned here, back when he was a man, before the surgery.

I see the laws of supply and demand are working here. Now that people are buying the case, they are starting to increase the price. Buy.com is definitely cheaper now by about $4.

I read this forums a week ago and ordered one for myself. The case is just great, ever better than I expected. I live in Florida, and two days ago I saw my exact same KHOMO case on a store, and they were selling for 39.99. I was happy that I had a great deal.
