I am disappointed in the false reports by users on amazon, perhaps the company itself? (who said it would fit with a invisible shield it's just not true)

Otherwise a nice looking case but had to return it IT DOES NOT fit with a full body skin the hunt continues *shrugs*

DITTO, it amazes me how in this thread the only cases that works perfect 100% of the time is the OP strange, sounds to me like he might have some interest in this case? One thing i have notice in my life is just that "you get what you pay for" there are reasons that cases are $10 - $20. People think nothing of dumping $800 on a iPad and then think that a quality case should not cost over $20 and have no downsides. The Apple smart cover is just that a cover they cost up to $79 and offer not a single bit of protecton and they don't even stop the iPad from turning off and on 100% of the time unless you buy a tight sleeve to insert in while in a bag.

People have different likes and dislikes. Some think the Smart Cover is protection and I say it is just another thing they want us to purchase. Very little protection is offered. Others like big cases with lots of protection and I am in that camp.

Some cases suck and some are great; some of the great and costly cases are no better than the cheap cases. I like leather with brass trim, but I cannot find a case I like. I would gladly spend a few hundred for a case if it were fine quality tooled leather and there are quite a few of those.

I decided on a cheap leather case and I keep my iPad in my daily satchel.

Are you suggesting that the OP has a less than honorable reason to hype cases on this forum?

SO I took my case and held it upside down and made sure i held it near the very end of the unit where both halves of the case are joined together , and it did not open. I held it for 60 seconds, and nothing. I even shook it lightly, and it did not open unless i shook it a bit more. Sure there is a small gap in the middle where there are no magnets, but it did not open. Did You ever think that some cases may be a bit heavier than others, or that there may be a difference in cover weight with the different colors? With the price of these cases, i doubt the specs on the magnets are very strict, and I'm sure that some magnets may be a bit stronger than others.
Regardless of all that, I sure wouldn't call someone on this forum a liar if the cover on my cheap case opened, and he said his did not.
It just isn't that important to me, and I really wouldn't care. I guess you think that I for some reason, intentionally went to represent this case, which I have absolutely no interest in, to be more than what it is.
It is an inexpensive $20 plastic case which i was given, and I decided others may want to know about. Thats all it is.

I'll tell ya what. I am located near Philadelphia Pa. If there is any other person on this form that is near here, or maybe you are near here, bring $500 with you and I will do the same. We will meet at some designated location and perform a "cover test" . We will then hold my iPad upside down in the presence of a third independent party with my Khomo cover on it, and if it stays shut, you pay me $500, and if it falls open, I'll pay you $500. We'll make sure it is held upside down for a full 60 seconds.

This hasn't been worth my time, but the $500 challenge will make it so. What do you say?

I am so certain that there is someone on this forum that lives near me, that I'll even give him $250 of the $500 for showing up for the test.

You are starting to sound like a seller/shill trying to avoid potential loss of sales because of a few people. I do not know if you are, I'll trust your intentions. That said, this and every other forum deals with sellers trying to push their crap to others and many of us are wary and tired. I sell stuff but I never say so with links in forum posts.

In my considered opinion, you should forget the bet, the prizes, and the defensive position. Please, take no offence, for I mean no offence. If people want the item, they should purchase it and return it if it sucks. Not too costly, I see.

AND AGAIN, no offence is meant.

It is a problem. I never trust reviewers. I can usually tell what to expect from sellers online because I do my research. I know some amateur pen makers for example, that are selling pens that are clearly not what they advertise.

We all need to learn what is hype and report the bad guys. It is interesting that Facebook is a great place to complain. But be fair and honest before you set out to damage a seller.

Then again, nothing to prevent competitors from posting bad reviews about those that get in their way sales wise.

Not sure what Amazon can do to eliminate the shills, however.

No shill here. Just someone who got the case for free and likes it.
That bit with the $500 bet was just an over reaction to someone else's post.

It seems that the seller on Amazon bought way too many of theses cases and couldn't sell them for the initial high price, and just reduced them to move stock.

After using my case for a month, the only criticism I have is the ugly color..grey and black.

I like the red but I'll just use the one I have until it falls apart, or the ipad3 comes out!

That's fair. Again, no offence meant. Just a comment from someone that has been around the block for a long time and sometimes, a poster will arrive with less than honorable reasons for posting.

Agreed. I've been here a few years (read but never posted) as well and have seem pretty much every form of fake post/advertising/product pushing that exists.

Matter of fact they just banned one for doing just that.

I just got one of these cases off eBay for $18 shipped (after 7% eBay bucks). I noticed it had "Khomo" embossed on the front (weird name for sure) and then I searched here for others who may have tried it.

I must say, I have tried 3 other similar cases that cost 2-3 times more and this was the best one of them all. Fit is perfect, every cutout is perfect, weighs next to nothing, feel is great and the best part was the iPad just snaps in without having to slip it into a sleeve with a big opening and an ugly thick border that covers around the front.

I'm sure it isn't giving me full drop protection but it at least it fully covers the device so I can slip it into a bookshelf.

Oh, the magnet works and holds fine.

This was the one I got. The "brand" didn't show in the auction but the package was labeled as was the case itself.

Another vote for the Khomo... Bought off of Amazon and couldnt be happier.

Very slim compared to the Switcheasy Canvas and the front of the case works exactly as advertised.

Highly recommend.

I know this thread has been dead for almost a month, but I just wanted to post that I JUST got mine in the mail today (lime green) from amazon, and it fits perfectly! I really am pleased with such a great deal and product.

Also - I did the "stay closed" test upside down and mine stays on as well just fine, and doesnt' flop open.. .maybe they got better magnets in them now?

Anyway, off to enjoy my ipad, just wanted to say this really is a great case for the money - and i love that it's separate pieces.

This thread rocks... so getting one of these when I get my iPad 2. I want a white one though... anyone have a white one and has it gotten dirty over a period of time?

I ordered this case off amazon in lime green. I disliked it. The fit was great and it my cover stayed closed without any problems, but the edges of the plastic on the bottom (where the charging port is) were rough and hurt every time u brushed my hand across. I often lay down and have my iPad on my stomach and this case made that a highly uncomfortable situation. Also, when I took the cover off to show someone how it worked, I noticed a lot of little black marks around the "hinge" on my iPad. I ended up sending it back.

I never thought this thread would go on for so long when I originally posted it, but I see it is still alive. Amazing.

I've had my original grey khomo case for a few months now , and it is holding up nicely. The color is ugly though, so I wouldn't recommend the grey.

I wish they had more colors.
Happy Holidays all!

I want to get the Khomo and I am looking into it... but today I got an email from Buy.com with these 2 cases in it.

Anyone try these out? I kind of dig them too...

The second link looks nice but the first one has the material band covering part of the front screen. Not crazy bout that.

I too am amazed it has gone on this long, and I switch from my zum back to this one every week or so. The red is holding up nicely and my only drawback is the top cover does not collapse and fold into viewing angles as nicely as the smartcover+zum. But hey, it's still a helluva case for the money and with my black carbon stripes - it gets looks whereever it goes:

I ended up getting the grey one... it actually looks fine to me. Also it was the only one with free shipping got it for 17.99 free shipping. So I'm fine with it. :)

I could always put CF strips on it like Glen... where did you get them glen e?

Just got mine today... holy crap... this thing is REALLY nice. Beats the hell out of my 50 dollar Incase Magazine case, which was similar, for my iPad 1. Magnet holds fine... not TOO strong but having the Incase with no magnet previously I'm fine with it. I really dig how the back feels. and it protects more of the ipad than my previous cases.

I'm actually surprised by the weight of the cover... it doesn't lay perfectly flat but it's fine because it still gets the job done. The Incase cover was much more floppy and flimsy. I kind of wish I got a red and black one now since I bought one of those red and black sleeves for my iPad 1 way back when that didn't fit when I had a case on so it's been sitting around... but since the iPad 2 is slimmer it actually fits perfectly now for some double protection. :)

Anyway just another positive review for this case! Best I've seen of the ones available and it's exactly what I was looking for in an iPad 2 case and cover!

Purchased a red one for my Son's new iPad and received it within a couple days through Amazon. The case fits nice but the red color is not uniform on the front. Fortunately my 8 year old son doesn't care..
Fits well.

New iPad

Hello all. I have this case and a New iPad. The iPad fits just fine, albeit a little more snugly! That is actually preferred - iPad won't come out without some force. However, the magnet orientation or placement is problematic. The sleep/wake function does not work. Has anyone performed a 'surgery' on the smart cover portion and moved/reoriented the offending magnet to re-enable the sleep/wake function? Thanks much!

Wondering the same thing.

Is Khomo going to release a new case for the iPad?
