Also: England is very different from the US when it comes to vaccination. They’ve nearly all had it (88% of people over 18):

Therefore the “percentage of people getting Covid that have been vaccinated” will be high. Think about it for a moment - if 100% of people in England were vaccinated then 100% of the new cases would be breakthrough cases.
With their vaccination rate they are currently at 800 hospitalizations per day:

That is 1 in 100,000 people.
The US, with its 12,000 hospitalizations per day (source in previous post) has 3.7 in 100,000 people being hospitalized per day.
So: the UK’s high vaccination rate means that they have a quarter of the new cases rate that the US has.
