Ahhh Kohls... So the price tag will read something like "Apple Watch Sport 42mm - regularly $1999.00 - you pay $399.00"

Exactly.

Kohl's is a shopping woman's dream if you love discounts. The 'YOU SAVED' on a Kohl's receipt is more prominent than the price you pay.

I can't shop there. They'll be a price for a bedding set for like $299 - but after discounts, you pay like only $55. Same thing you could have gotten at any other store for like $55. But women like these sales and think they're really getting huge deals.

Kohl's always offers significant discounts, including 20% and 30% off anything. I assume the Apple Watch will be excluded, but if not, it would make shopping there for an AW a no-brainer.

I doubt it will be included. Nike, Jockey, and a few others are regularly excluded from these coupons.

How are they going to offer the Apple Watch series 2 when it isn't even in good supply at their Apple Stores?
I am thinking about getting one for wife and looks like need 3-4 weeks lead time still. They are nowhere.

I can't wait to see them next to the register at the gas station, along with the yellow jacket stingers and horny goat weed.

I would buy an Apple watch at Walmart faster then I would go to an Apple store to buy an Apple watch. I haven't been to an Apple store in several years because the last time I went, it took nearly an hour to get my iPhone that I had reserved.

I don't think I've ever been to a Kohls though.

I have owned Apple products. I like Apple products. I HATE going to an Apple store as I find the elitist attitude of the store, employees, and customers too much to take.

Do I have to drink Kool Aid when I use my tech????

I love Kohls and own an iPhone, iPad Pro, iMac and considering Apple Watch.

Works for me!

Same here. Not only that but I live in a fairly affluent area and Kohl's is the ONLY store who's parking lot is PACKED on Black Friday. It's like a mad house, inside a circus, within a zoo. So, yeah, a Venn diagram of Kohl's and Apple customers would have lots of common area.

Until Apple realizes that accessories need to cross platform they will have limited penetration.
I am part of the Apple ecosystem; my house has 4 Macs and 4 iPads. We do not own iPhones. We owned Windows Mobile, then BlackBerry and finally switched to Android. No desire for an iPhone.
I'm a watch guy and own about 25+. I would buy an Apple Watch, but it is not agnostic. Android Wear has some functionality with an iPhone. The Apple Watch needs an open API. Just like the iPod and iPad work with Windows. The Apple Watch needs to work with Android. Without that Apple is ceding 50% of the wearable market.

*Apple* is the one who has always pushed themselves as a luxury brand. I don't care who shops at Kohl's, but Apple as a brand has always tried to cater to the elite market, not the everyday market. Hence their pricing strategy.

I don't think luxury is the right word for their branding. They seems to want to make great products that are sold at a premium price, which I wouldn't say is synonymous with luxury. The truth of the matter is that while they used to be a niche company, things have changed dramatically in the past 20 years. You can buy Apple products at Walmart, Target, Best Buy and many other similar stores. They sell to the higher end of the "everyday market", but its not, by any means, a luxury brand.

And that's not a bad thing.

Oh Apple, Apple, Apple...

I saw this headline and thought I'd passed out, gone into a coma, and come back on April 1.

Seriously, what is going on with Apple these days? I get selling iPad and iPhone in Walmart (though I think it devalues the brand's premium), but Kohls? What next? Ross and TJ Max and Marshalls? Seriously, to put a product into Kohls you're basically admitting mediocrity.

I still don't think Apple really understands this segment.

Fitbit makes a activity band.

Apple makes a great watch.

I wish Apple made something more on par for exercising like Fitbit does.
From gold (edition) to Kohls, has reality dared to intrude on Apple's moribund, faltering product? Will we see the first-gen models in the discount bin at Big Lots after the holidays?

Yeah I live within a mile of both an Apple Store and a Kohls. I'd much rather do my clothes shopping at Kohls since I cant deal with some of the stores in the malls, haha. Its a win win....saving money at Kohls can help pay for an Apple watch. Which makes me wonder now if my local Kohls will even carry the watch.....probably not.

Glad to see this! LOOOOVVVVING my new Apple Watch Sport Series 2!!! Super-useful! Siri really picks up my voice better (like 99% accurate compared to 80% on my iPhone). The ability to quickly respond to texts by a quick tap or two or even a quick dictation without fishing out my iPhone is a fantastic feature. Hopefully they will let us compose emails in another iOS update and also add "Move to Archive" as an option.

Yup, I'm seriously spoiled now. :)

Will the increase in watch band sales make up for the end of Apple's computer business? Apple is pricing their computers so ridiculously high while selling old tech to make it obvious they intend to exit the computer business.

I agree the price is too high, but with the pent up demand, they're still selling faster than hotcakes. They did this with the iMac Retina 3 years back and now the base price is $700 less. Same will probably happen with new MacBook Pros over time. Have faith. :)

Smartphones have significantly reduced the need for a watch. Apple and others are trying to make a wearable product, watch, that people find and absolute necessity. Health and fitness are the current must have for many purchasing a wearable. Fashion in the wearable market, not a significant selling feature at this time. I have an Apple Watch, find it very useful but, not an absolute necessity as my iPhone. At present a challenging market for any of the wearables. A different direction on Apples part, wish them the best.

It's amazing people fall for this sort of thing. I actually find it a little insulting. I didn't "save" anything just because they put some imaginary number on a receipt and subtract the real price from it.

This is just silly. They can put them in all the stores around the world, it won't help there sales.

People aren't buying the Apple watch for many reasons, price, utility, etc. But the one thing I have never head is they didn't get it because it wasn't at the store they regularly buy from.

Second, most smart phones out there are android, so 87% of the world's smart phone market can't use it. And yes, that figure includes periphery countries (third world). The only point I'm trying to make with this is that they have a limited market.

This just shows how Apple is lost at sea, and captain dongle-head is is clueless.

Yep. Just the limited market of iPhone users. Can't be more than 400 million people right now. ;-)

Apple has a 44% market share in the United States. That's pretty good. So, about HALF the people shopping at Kohl's can use an Apple Watch, about the same as marketing clothes to just women - that's about HALF the population as well.

There is no 'limited market' like you're saying. Apple is not lost at sea. Ridiculous.

Like I said, world statistics because united states isn't the world. It's not even the largest smart phone market any more. Welcome to the 21 century.

You do know that Apple's growth and future is not in the US, but in the emerging markets. How do you think Tim has increased revenue? Through his awesome products? No.. He took Steve's products to China.

And now isn't China the highest App store consumer in the world? Much bigger than the US. But they are losing ground in the Chinese market.

Anyways, as you didn't get the purpose of my earlier post, I"m not harping on there US market share, just illustrating that as a world company, they are falling behind. Especially in the biggest markets around the world.
