they obviously want everybody to bug themselves so the insurance companies can hike up everybodies rates even more. sorry, no thanks...not until this damn gvt. has been brough to heel.

Wow. Way to remove the luxury perception.

I think that is precisely what they are doing. They realized through trial and error that it made sense to position the watch as a fitness/activity tracker more than a luxury/fashion piece. Thats how business works: you come up with a thing and then make that thing better so more people buy it.

Kohls is something of a discounter? I guess watch bands are not selling themselves. I can't wait to buy my next computer from Kohls. Oh wait, by next year Apple will not be selling computers!

Yeh, I saw where they said it was not an electronics business partner, but the Apple brand and strategy is defined by the stores that carry it. Enough said.

I take it you've never seen Apple products in vending machines.

Sort of interesting to see Apple Watches pop up in all sorts of stores. It's unusual coming from Apple, but it should hopefully get more shoppers looking at them, especially the ones who wouldn't traditionally go to an Apple Store.

It's part of the fuzzy line between electronic and fashion/clothes. Catching people more when they're in stores thinking about "things to wear" vs going to the Apple store thinking about "gadgets to use".

I have owned Apple products. I like Apple products. I HATE going to an Apple store as I find the elitist attitude of the store, employees, and customers too much to take.

Do I have to drink Kool Aid when I use my tech????

That's funny to hear that, I've never felt that way. Apple stores to be one of the only stores where the people who work there are friendly and go out of their way to help me. The customers just seem like average people. Heck, there's always at least one homeless dude surfing the web in the corner.

I know, but I still don't see the fit.

It's pretty clear to me. Kohl's shoppers don't go to Target or Macy's or Best Buy or any of the other mid-level stores that have been selling the AW for over a year. It introduces the watch to a whole new demographic. Old Navy is next on the list. /sarc.

I still don't think Apple really understands this segment.

Fitbit makes a activity band.

Apple makes a great watch.

I wish Apple made something more on par for exercising like Fitbit does.

What would you like the Apple Watch to do that's more on par for exercising that Fitbit already does?

Do you mean a wearable that falls apart in three months, consistently? (I'm on my THIRD Charge btw.)
Do you mean inaccurate heart rate monitoring?
Do you mean syncing to your phone/a website that only occurs occasionally instead of automatically?
Do you mean a battery that dies inexplicably when you only removed it from the charger hours ago? (My gf's Flexes, both of them, did this.)
Do you mean unsecure, easily sniff-able bluetooth connections?

I am not saying Fitbit is better then the Apple watch. I'm aware of their product problems (although I have had none). Your reasons above are why I would like Apple to make something similar to fitbits product - it would blow them out of the water if apple had the watch tech without maps and apps that just did heart rate, calories, steps, activity monitoring, text views, and caller ID.

WHORING THE Apple Watch BRAND OUT!

I remember when apple felt so different. This new apple kind of sucks - they no longer cater to the pro's - it is all about investors.

microsoft is looking attractive this days

I feel the Apple watch just does to much.

I'd like to see Apple make an activity band thats not a watch.

Just because the Apple Watch has a lot of utility and options available doesn't mean you need to use everyone of them.

If you are interested mostly in exercise-related features, just use those. The Watch is highly configurable and an outstanding fitness device. I use mine every day for tracking fitness activities (cycling, gym, hiking, etc).

The fact that it also alerts me to emails and messages, handles my calendar, integrates with Siri, etc is icing on the cake. You can turn all of that off if it doesn't interest you.

Apple Watch is a little pricey to be selling it Kohl's. Yet another example showing that Apple is losing direction. Pushing their product into more outlets isn't going to make more people buy them. A $500 watch isn't exactly an impulse purchase. It's not like you go to the store to get some Farberware pots, a bathroom rug, and oh look honey throw that Apple Watch in the cart, too... not.

Here's why I don't own an Apple watch: It's ugly. Nothing else matters.

I just really don't understand the Kohls hate. Apple is not some special boutique brand, they are a premium mass market brand. As such they will try to get their products in as many hands as possible while maintaining their profit margins. The Apple watch isn't even a pro device.

Also - it makes me feel like I'm wearing a watch at the gym.

Wal-Mart and Target have dedicated electronics sections that sell nearly all tech. Including higher priced electronics.

Kohls sells mostly clothes and things for the house.

Mostly, but they also have a watch and jewelry department, right at the middle of the store near the entrance of the Kohl's I've seen. Not a big fan of Kohl's but they seem popular enough with a less downmarket audience than Wal-Mart, and as has already been pointed out, $269.00 is not exactly a luxury-priced product these days. Heck I was in a Sunglass Hut the other day and people were lining up to buy $175.00 sunglasses, and I was easily the youngest person in the store.

This is just silly. They can put them in all the stores around the world, it won't help there sales.

People aren't buying the Apple watch for many reasons, price, utility, etc. But the one thing I have never head is they didn't get it because it wasn't at the store they regularly buy from.

Second, most smart phones out there are android, so 87% of the world's smart phone market can't use it. And yes, that figure includes periphery countries (third world). The only point I'm trying to make with this is that they have a limited market.

This just shows how Apple is lost at sea, and captain dongle-head is is clueless.

Typical un-educated, negative MR poster

Apple has installed base of 650M users. Close to that of Google Android (not counting Non-Google Andoid China)

The AW Series 2 has 4 week wait time

Looks like they have experience at selling smart watch flops, like the Moto 360 and Withings..

*Apple* is the one who has always pushed themselves as a luxury brand. I don't care who shops at Kohl's, but Apple as a brand has always tried to cater to the elite market, not the everyday market. Hence their pricing strategy.

There have been iPods at Target/Walmart forever. I'm not seeing the difference.

You're right, they don't sell iMacs at Sheetz. But I think the watch is a lot more like an iPod than a Mac.

And yet you have guys like Jim Darlymple proudly touting the Fitbit's destruction....
