Excuse me but isn‘t it obvious that we have 3 year cycles now? The iPhone 11 Pro is an „SS“ version. Who cares about the name?

Yes it is, but the naming conventions still say otherwise, hence the question. We have a third X iteration in an 11 box. Having a three year cycle on a two year naming plan doesn't work. So it'd just be interesting to see if we go straight to 12, or drop the numbers altogether in favour of something (or nothing) else. Having the *NEW* phone/redesign as an 11s feels out of place and isn't matching their new release behaviour.

Quite frankly, the more phones they add, and the higher the numbers get, the more claustrophobic the lineup feels. Kinda feels like they need to trim the fat and have a fresh slate - which the X felt like the perfect opportunity for.

It is not inevitable by any means. I'm reasonably sure that Apple's solution to "big screen in a small footprint" will be their glasses.
LMAO. Their glasses.

We will see a folding iPhone in two years. Doubt it all you want.

Meh, not excited for this. I personally think the iPhone 4 design looks dated, and the rumoured sizes are either too small or too big. Don’t care one bit about 5G, we hardly get good 4G coverage! Boring.

Ok. I will.

I mean, there's such huge demand for these turtle-ducks already on sale.
The Fold has sold like crazy in Korea. In due time folding devices will be more affordable and the next wave in smartphones. It sure as hell ain't glasses.

I am betting that the sizes will end up being around the same. Eliminate bezels and change aspect ratio slightly and you can get to those bigger numbers without much changing the overall size of the devices.

No not a square disguised as a rectangle. How did you even come up with that? Imagine an iPhone 11 Pro Max that folds out to a bezel-less iPad Mini. It would be an amazing device desired by many.
Do you not realize what you just did? You described exactly what I said. A rectangle that unfolds into a square like an iPAD mini. That's how I came up with that. SMH

Proof that it "has sold like crazy in Korea?" I have seen no published numbers, and I have looked.

Sounds like Apple is taking 5G serious and coming up with a complete new case/antenna design.. Hope it works out better than with the iPhone 4

Anyhow 5G needs extra and special antennas otherwise 5G is slower than 4G LTE :p

You didn't look hard enough.

The iPad Mini is not a square. A square has 4 even sides. If you want to use shapes as an example, a folding phone is a rectangle that folds out into a larger rectangle.

I doubt they’d do the antenna on the outside like the 4 again. We’d have another death grip and “you’re holding it wrong” fiasco.

In terms of looks the 4/4S were great, however they were horrible to hold. The two sharp sandwiched pieces of glass and that protruding steel band that sort of cut into your fingers... Nah, didn’t like it.

With the 5/5S they got it perfectly right. A 5.4” OLED phone with the same design (minus aluminium back) has my name all over it!

The band on the 4 doesn’t cover the glass edges like the 5. I much prefer the 5 style with glass back for wireless charging.

So... flat design. 5g. Smaller (5.4”) option. Maybe no notch and/or under-display touchID.

Yup. That’s the one I want. Sounds near-perfect. Makes keeping my 7 another year a really easy call.

The fact remains that the iphone 5 is the top design apple ever made on an iphone. The metall/glass back is the most beautiful back on any iphone. I will patiently wait for the new design but also for an in display fingerprint sensor and the removal of the god damn notch😀.
Then i will purchase my next iphone.
I completely concur
And it really needs to stay small -one handed use á la Steve

Make it look different and the majority seem happy. Apple is really nailing the stuff that matters. Performance and efficiency.
