I assume these ‘metal bands’ will lower the price for the 2020 iPhones or somehow be factored, being a stainless bands are probably not cheap, especially when you look at the space gray stainless steel bands that use a PVD coating, the price is probably more expensive for that specific process.

Something else worth noting, I’m not really that big of a fan of the stainless bands, the reason being, is the 316 L stainless scratches relatively easy, even though you can remove them with a polishing cloth, and the space gray bands kind of have a grippy texture to it due to the PVD coating. So I’m perfectly fine if they transition to metal bands.

Sorry i can't see the incredible stuff here. The Ram is STILL only at 4 gigs, which does make a huge difference when switching heavy lifting apps. The bezels are literally the thickest in that price range. The notch is STILL huge. Still no usb C, we lose 3d touch, Etc etc etc.

The technology within the notch is also a lot more sophisticated than what the competition is doing. For me, I value security and convenience of FaceID over everything the competition offers.

The camera technology is now industry-leading.

The processors are now beyond desktop-class.

The new Super Retina XDR display is the best in the world.

The 4 to me was and still is the most beautiful iPhone they made followed by the 5.

It made sense for its strength and actually provided a surface to grip. Being able to actually stand it on edge was a huge plus too.

So tired of the current rectangle form factor. No redesign/5G/full screen Touch ID is going to make me want to upgrade. We need folding iPhones ASAP. Probably won't come until 2021.

A folding iPhone will require a battery material that is very flexible enough to bend without destroying it and fold more than one angel...

Lets just hope that the camera bump is gone and will look similar to the iPhone 4 with 3 lenses.

In my readings of various sites trying to justify upgrading to the 11, many consider the 11 to be an "XS S" so to speak. That is, the tick-tock approach of an S release followed by a redesign seems to have changed this year. Many consider this a tick-tock-tock phone, before we get the 12.

Looks like we'll get a redesign, and 5G. I wouldn't be surprised if Touch ID isn't until 2021, though it would be nice if we can get everything at once.

Where were you in 2016 when the iPhone 7 was released as the third iteration of the iPhone 6 design? The iPhone 11 Pro is the second time Apple has done a 3 year cycle.

I hope this is true, I hate the soapbar edges of iPhone 6 onwards, other than the overall size it’s part of what drove me to the SE immediately.

The iPhone 4 remains the most beautiful iPhone IMHO.

It's slightly slippery..

iPhone 4 was and is, perhaps not surprisingly considering how many people agree, my favourite iPhone design ever. I was so glad when they adopted similar styling for the new iPad Pro and I was actually surprised, considering the iPad redesign, that this years iPhone didn't follow suit and take on the same style.

All said though, I'll (probably) skip next years model, even though I'll be ridiculously tempted if they do an iPhone 4 style, because I think the iPhone that follows next years will be the bigger jump technologically over this years iPhones.
Sure, 5G next year in the iPhone, but thats not even a consideration for me for a few years yet, it'll be ages before 5G reaches me. So it'll be everything else I'll be taking into consideration.

New design , smaller notch and bezels , 5nm cpu , 5G , 6GB Ram , USB-Typ C , bilateral charging ... i think i will skip iPhone 11 Pro Max . I will stick with my XS Max for another year . 2020 suddenly sounds better and better.

No way, the 5/5s was the worst design to date as it was too light and felt cheap in the hand. iPhones should feel solid, weighty and expensive feeling to touch and the 5/5s felt like is would bend and break given the slightest chance.
I could not disagree more. I have half a mind to go back from my Xs to a 7 to get a nice, lightweight aluminum phone again that doesn't yank on my neck when I drop it in my breast pocket. Not only do I disagree with you, but Apple literally continued to make the 5 design for years after its "obsolescence" via the SE because it is such a beloved design.

The overall strength is quite robust therefore it can stand properly without leaning backward or frontward.

So, basically a square disguised as a rectangle? Got it. I would pass on that personally.
No not a square disguised as a rectangle. How did you even come up with that? Imagine an iPhone 11 Pro Max that folds out to a bezel-less iPad Mini. It would be an amazing device desired by many.

Interesting. It seems strange that an S model would have a redesign as opposed to the 11 - maybe they'll skip to 12?

They will skip to the 12 because this is the same case as iPhone 7 going to the iPhone 8/X. Apple’s now on a three year design schedule so I don’t expect the fourth year to be an S model while any redesign always constitutes a jump to the next number.

So the 6.1” iPhone 12 will be OLED? In other words, all iPhones in 2020 will now be OLED? That’s going to close the gap between the 12 and the 12 pro won’t it? What else bedsides the triple lens camera and the higher end materials will differentiate between the pro and non pro models next year?

Your sarcasm is nonsense. Such a device is inevitable from Apple. We already have it from Huawei.

It is not inevitable by any means. I'm reasonably sure that Apple's solution to "big screen in a small footprint" will be their glasses.
