This is the same guy that claimed it was the the Titanium chassis that was making the iPhone 15 Pro's over heat when it was bad acting apps. Take everything he says with a grain of salt.
Right on the button! Kuo is a financial analyst, not an engineer or thermal expert. He does not have a crystal ball to predict what Apple will or will not do. Like all financial analysts he needs to come with stuff for his clients and advise them of what stocks to by or sell. And he gets paid for it. Like all Apple analysts he relies on reports from supply chain sources and then tries to put 2-and-2 together. Tim Cook has warned against putting too much stock in supply chain sources since the days he became CEO.

From the Quora website:

"Ming-Chi Kuo is an analyst at TF International Securities, a financial services group in the Asia-Pacific region."

How did you get them to replace it? I have apple care on the 7 and 8 and want to know what the threshold is for a new one

I didn’t get it replaced due to battery, I got an express replacement for an intermittent microphone fault.

Rang them up, asked for an express replacement as the mic was intermittent. They sent out the replacement.

The 2024 Apple Watch is "unlikely" to offer "significant innovative experiences," according to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Apple-Watch-Series-9.jpg

For instance, in a post on Medium today, Kuo said the Apple Watch will not be equipped with a micro-LED display or blood glucose monitoring in 2024. He believes these features are at least two years away from being added to the Apple Watch.

It's unclear if Kuo's prediction rules out the launch of the rumored "Apple Watch X" next year. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said a significantly overhauled "Apple Watch X" would launch in either 2024 or 2025, to mark the tenth anniversary of the device. The original Apple Watch was announced in September 2014 and released in April 2015.

The information shared today by Kuo is quite vague, so there are a lot of possibilities and unanswered questions for now. For example, perhaps Kuo is referring to the model that will succeed the Apple Watch Series 9, and the "Apple Watch X" will be an additional high-end model that does offer more innovative changes. This would be similar to the iPhone X launching shortly after the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in 2017.

Gurman said the "Apple Watch X" would be equipped with a thinner case, and potentially a magnetic band attachment system. And if the device doesn't launch until 2025, perhaps the rumored micro-LED display will also be ready.

Kuo added that Apple Watch shipments are expected to decline to 36-38 million units in 2023, a decline of approximately 15% on a year-over-year basis. However, he said that Apple Watch integration with Apple's upcoming Vision Pro headset could "create an unparalleled and innovative health management experience" that boosts shipments.

I still think the 2024 gets a body and perhaps strap connector redesign for the 10th anniversary BUT OF COURSE there won’t be new sensors because the new look will sell it… they will save adding sensors for year 2 and 3 of the design (2025/26) to keep selling upgrades. The new look alone will help it sell next year.

I've upgraded every three years since the original (S0, S4, S7) and right now I can't think of a reason why I'd buy next year's model instead of just getting my S7's battery "serviced" (i.e., get a refurbished watch so Apple can destroy the old one).
I'm on the exact same cycle. It happens to coincide with every time they have increased the screen size. I imagine even without new experiences or innovation, a fresh design w/ even less bezel, perhaps 3nm SiP (s10), and whatever other cheap but useful features they want to throw in, I may very well feel compelled to upgrade again. I would have already bought an ultra if the button wasn't that disgusting orange. I hate orange so much.

When was the last time a new Apple Watch offered a "significant innovative experience?" When Apple put a slightly larger screen on the Series 4? Kuo sure isn't making any daring new predictions with this. :p

I wonder for how much longer they will keep the design such that older watch bands are still usable...

Hoping for a decent refresh, however... the watch design is already perfect in many ways.

This shouldn’t come to a surprise for anyone.
Just look at the iPhone 15 (Pro Max).
Again, incremental change for maximum profits is Apple’s MO.
Que the AppleHeads disagreeing with this statement.

except, that's not the way it works. Apple sends you a refurb ...
really? Here they send it in and replace it with a new watch
According to a recent visit, I heard otherwise. Unless you have the express replacement with AC+ where they send you a new physical watch and you send yours back... it would be a 5-7 repair turnaround where you send the watch off and then return it.
I appear to be mistaken. I have read that you can get a replacement same day, depending on availability — but it sounds like this is a refurb, as stated. I have two Watches, and haven’t needed either battery replaced — I figured it was the same process as an iPhone.

This is why I only upgrade every two years. I was wearing my series 7 up until last week when I got the Ultra 2.

For me, Apple Watch Series X needs (1) Apple Watch Ultra-style flat screen and (2) improved battery life. That would make it an insta-buy for me.

a record low PC Video games are being released next year.

Normally there are between 30 plus new games every year.

not in 2024.

which means slow or bad news of a recession coming.

That's why this year is a good year to upgrade for those who have been waiting for a while, like me. You finally get a faster chip which should make this watch last for a long time. If you get an Ultra 2, it will last even longer because of the battery life—maybe even until Apple actually innovates with the Apple Watch again!

The next time I upgrade this Ultra 2 will probably be the Ultra 8 or 9. It will have micro-LED, at least 5G, week long battery life in lower power mode, blood glucose monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, a larger and nearly bezel-free display, and it will probably be controlled via winking, lol.

Personally, I’ve found what I use my watch for every day. I don’t need crazy new “exciting” features because I don’t upgrade things every year.

The changes from the SE I’m currently using to whatever watch is out when this one dies will simply be a bonus. I’m obviously going buy another Apple Watch, but only when this stops functioning. I’ll probably get whatever Ultra is cheapest when the time comes 🤷‍♂️

I still have my 4, lol. Waiting for a reasonable upgrade ever since. Sure, all the tiny improvements would add up, but there hasn’t been a single must have upgrade since the always-on display
