Which is the better technology of the two? I tried googling about it, but it seemed like OLED has a better look to it, but MiniLED has better brightness. As I haven't tried either I have no clue as to why Apple wants one over the another.

MiniLED can have better brightness, but mostly the difference is OLED can burn in (and dim over time), and MiniLED can have halos around bright parts of the image on a dark background.

This is a False update to a false rumor. Apple uses OLED on the highest priced iPhones and watches. Why would it ever include it on a lower model while the technology commands a premium? Apple is not in the business of giving their lower end products the newest tech. Even the M1 is apples lowest end cpu. It’s way below their best.
The iPad Air is the model they introduce new ways to create a thinner product with less parts and overal lower cost of manufacturing. OLED in that model does not make sense because raising the price would make it even less worth owning. With all the sales on iPads recently it looks like Apple could be testing the water on lowering prices. That means including even less new tech in newer models to keep the price down. Expect only cpu updates and little else for the next several years on the iPad Air.

Actually, you most likely only know smoking is bad for you due to studies being made. Back in the days smoking was not considered a danger of any sort, common sense changes over time with new information.
That is not true.
People were well aware that breathing smoke wasn’t healthy long before cancer statistics were well publicized.
That is not to say they cared as much. It is difficult today to imagine what it was like to live at a time before antibiotics and vaccines. 1800 the average UK life span was 40 years.
And the UK was a comparatively very good place to live.

Apple: how will we ever survive?

Apple’s core ethos was never about survival, but about bringing “the best products” to the market. Jobs passionately loved his products, Cook is just a good salesman and a logistical whiz. That’s the difference. Not putting an OLED into an Air is unlikely to influence Apple’s profits much, but will surely lack that “Wow, this is cool!” element to it, IMO.

It was the same Kuo dude that started those rumours and then turned back on them. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Yeah that’s what I’m saying. It’s so flip-floppy. Didn’t he predict new MacBook Airs earlier in the year. People sold their Macs over his certainty. I wonder if those people went back and bought that same MacBook Air, or did they get a cheap PC.

iPad Air is STILL likely getting an upgrade next year, A15 or even A15x chip, an upgraded camera (with camera flash finally) all on Liquid Retina Display.

OLED display is probably going to be in pro lineup first in 2023 at this point.

Yeah this never made any sense. Also, why do they need to replace the existing LCDs? They're pretty widely regarded as excellent displays.
To be fair they are probably some of the best LCDs you can get on tablets, just lack some of the feature of mini led and the OLEDs on offer. For example HDR (to my knowledge isn’t supported on the LCDs)

My opinion of an Apple product with an OLED panel has been less than stellar, so I genuinely don’t mind.

Yep. Pick one or the other, as a pit stop on the way to microLED. But using both is confusing, as OLED is better in some ways than miniLED.
I think they should make both, as like you say, they both have their benefits over the other. I prefer the OLED more... Not sure MicroLED is going to be that great though, it wont replace OLED yet.

Well there it goes. Is Apple trying to save money or what?
Great news, these oled panels in our iPhones have been getting worse every year, getting more yellow every year, this year, most of the 13 models also have a red tint.

Switch to mini led apple until micro led is ready. oled is a flawed technology.

Prefer my mini led iPad display over my 13 pro max display, yellow, red tint, off axis terrible colour shift, murky display. 🤦‍♂️

This never made sense to me anyways, considering the Pro models are moving towards MiniLED. An OLED Air would have been move expensive than than the current Air, so it would have been into Pro 11” territory — so what’s the point?

Getting harder and harder for me to be motivated to upgrade ANYTHING Apple this year.

Would have upgraded one of my iPads to something OLED, now.....meh.

I went into the summer expecting to upgrade my 11PM, Mini 5, and even my AW6. Same for my GF with her XS max and AW3, now......we "might" get the 13PM around the holidays, if at all.

News like this doesn't help to motivate me.

From "I have to have the latest and greatest" to "what I have works so well I'll just.....not" in 2 short years.
Dude chiiiiill and I am still rocking an iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2 and nothing motivates me to update :D

Anyone selling their products based on rumors (no matter from who) is 100% fault of their own.

Seriously how many rumor cycles do we have to go through for people to realize it's only true once APPLE announces something.
