I have an iPhone XS Max since 2018. I'll prob buy the Pro Max 13 if I see it discounted heavily enough after the 14 is released - I can afford the 14 but why waste money? There is actually little point upgrading to the 14 imo. And no real point upgrading unless you phone is getting slow. My XS Max is still totally fine and I could wait another year easily unless iOS16 slows it down. The 13 is a decent upgrade because of the significantly longer battery life.

Of course if they made 256GB the base model, this wouldn't be so bad, but they won't...
The iPhone 13 Pro 256GB is $1099 which was $50 less than the 256GB iPhone X. I am not surprised we are seeing a price hike, but like you said, for the Pro model, a starting price of $1099 should include 256GB as standard. Kind of crappy they sold a 128GB 13 Pro that wasn’t even full featured due to inadequate storage. That’s on Apple.

True true true, and don’t forget significantly better cameras and ProMOTION. iPhone 14 Pro will bring us AoD…and that’s basically it according to rumors. I am definitely not upgrading my 13 Pro until the 15 Pro with expected USB-C.

Its been pointed out by economists that inflation seems to get worse due to companies raising prices more then they need to in order to mitigate costs. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/retail-price-gouging-lowes-amazon-target-accountable-us/

Apple may well be inflation resistant, but by raising prices they can increase their margins.
Absolutely they are fully taking advantage of this opportunity. There is a break point for me personally, where I see a price and decide if it's just too far. Poor example, but one nonetheless- I went to Publix recently to shop, saw my go to Popsicles (outshine, the fruit ones). 6 pk was priced now at 5.99. I looked, thought $1 per, and put it back, not going to happen. There is just a point where enough is enough. Same goes for the 14 pro, as I am on the 12Pro. Can I upgrade, sure- will I? maybe, depends.

The camera itself is going to be on another level tho. I don't think it's worth waiting for only USB-C. Might as well upgrade if you can. Remember tomorrow is not promised.

Heck I barely even pick stuff up anymore. I see the tag, stand there with my mouth hanging open, and then walk away mumbling and shaking my head

EDIT: and i wish more people were like us instead of just throwing money at stuff because they have it. This is what causes inflation to keep climbing

I want to pay more. Just because you don't want to pay more, don't assume everyone wants the same features as you? Ok?
I refuse to buy this year’s iPhone because the price hike is not sufficient enough for my needs.

Still, starting the phone above that magical $999 mark is one of those 'psychological' things that could hurt sales.
If it ends in 99 or 95 ($499 or $999), it's pricing for the budget conscious. If it ends in 00 ($500 or $1000), it's status conscious. It's a marketing tactic. $999 and $1000 is practically the same. $999 feels like a value because 9 < 10, whereas $1000 feels like bragging because 10 > 9.

If this happens I will get a battery replacement in my 12 pro max instead.

Agreed. In either case this won't be anything new :D

I know he’s been good for Apple’s shareholder’s but Tim really is cringy. I love Apple products and many of the products they’ve released recently, but Tim has always been a cringy character in my opinion.
Yea, totally, but everyone who follows him in the keynotes are even worse. Borderline creepy even. Like that watch guy who is wheezing the entire time, what with that?!

The iPhone 13 Pro Max 512GB, which is the one I’ve got (Sierra Blue btw if you’re curious) cost me $1959 + $249 for AppleCare+ before tax, so $2208. The total price would’ve been $2318.40, so if I was to get the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which I‘m not planning on upgrading this year, it would probably cost an additional $150 more. So for the equivalent spec, it would be $2109+$249=$2358*1.05=$2423.40.
If I was to get the 1TB option, which I’m planning to do when I eventually DO upgrade, it would be 2229+150=$2379+$249=$2628*1.05=$2759.40
