For God's sake Apple, it's not the price, it's the size. Why won't they make a premium phone that you can operate with one hand, and that easily fits in a pocket?View attachment 866300iPhone 5

And I vote with my wallet - our household is still only using iPhone SE's and we have two backups still brand new in the box.

i have NO interest in a low-cost iPhone.
I do have a need for a 4" iPhone that fits in my front jeans pocket and can be operated with one hand. Preferably with a solid build, squared-off edges that make it easy to hold, Touch ID, and volume buttons that don't oppose the lock button. Price is irrelevant - spec it with the latest processor, more memory, etc and price it at a premium.
I wish I had a couple of new SEs sitting around! I did run out and buy the top-spec 128GB version as soon as Apple announced they were discontinuing it last year. I have no idea what I'll do when it gives out! :(

Well that's not surprising given that this proposed SE 2 is not in keeping with what the original SE was.

The dispute will be less controversy and easier to understand if  sell the New SE with same form factor with a bigger screen size by shrinking the bezel rather than copying an iPhone 8 and makes sense by package it with up to date technology from 2019.

Would have preferred that but not sure it'll happen.

I'm clinging onto rumours about a 5.4 inch display Pro next year which would probably be smaller than an iPhone 8 in physical size...

I haven't done any market research, but as others have already stated, no one is manufacturing these smaller SE-sized phones.

Assuming they've done their market research, it must be showing them that there isn't enough demand for an SE-sized flagship phone to make it worth their time, so it must be too niche.

But on the other hand, Samsung makes all sorts of stuff, so I wonder why big Samsung doesn't just stake a claim to that niche? Unless most of those people are Apple fans?

I love my iPhone SE, but will likely go for this upgraded iPhone 8 eventually, as I want to stick with my Apple ecosystem.

The demand will be back or wouldn't drop if the SE model is producing at the same capacity as the bigger smartphone.

It has always seemed a bit weird to me that Apple seems to assume buyers of small phones are looking for something other than a premium experience. Why not make something in a format similar to the existing SE, but with an edge-to-edge screen?

because we are a minority not worth apples attention. That’s always how the downfall starts

May this become the elusive iPhone 9???

Seems like a good choice for replacing the iPhone 8 in the lineup, akin to how the SE replaced the 5s in early 2016 during the 6s flagship years

But the iPhone 8 is much more “modern” tech wise than the 5s was at the time

The iPhone 8 form factor is different from the SE so it wouldn't be right to outright duplicating.

They should base it on the 7 design. After the 5 era design, the 7 was the second best. Aluminium is so much better than glass for the back panel.

It is the form factor and the 7&8 model wouldn't be able to become SE if the bezel isn't reduced.

I don’t think Apple fans necessarily have smaller hands than Android fans, so I really don’t think those who want small phones are exclusive to iPhone.

The reason that screams out to me is that even with a market share that’s three or four times Apple, no one in the Android world has found small phones in demand any more than Apple.

It’s all well and good for an SE fan to have 20 or 30 likes. If you had 20 or 30 million like-minded brethren you would surely have Apple’s attention.

Not enough people wanted Xserve. Not enough wanted AirPort. Not enough wanted the 12” MacBook. Canceled, canceled, canceled. The SE is no different. Why is that so hard for the SE fans to understand?

SE fans: Apple gets it. You want a small phone. But do you get it? There’s not enough of you. There are quite a few Aperture fans out there too. That’s not coming back either.

Will this get night mode? That’s my biggest draw right now to upgrade. Everything else is just icing on the cake. If no night mode, then I’ll spring for the 11. But if there’s also night mode for the single camera, I’ll wait for this.

WHY!?! 4.7 INCHES?!? I use the SE because I don't want a gargantuan phone (plus, of course, the obvious higher quality of the SE compared to later iPhones). When will people get that the SE is not a "low cost" iPhone?

It's a 4" iPhone!

Keep it 4", bump the specs, charge $1000 for it, and I'll be all over it!
If there were 30 or 40 million of you, the SE2 would be a viable product.

You might think even 20 million would be enough. It’s not. That means 180 million others want a larger phone.

A smaller sized phone doesn't have to mean a low spec phone. I want the iPhone SE compact form factor but with Face ID and all the other features that i've got used to. I recently used an older relatives iPhone 5 SE and it felt great!

No thanks. Something smaller than the iPhone 8, with an edge-to-edge screen, USB-C, and FaceID, and I'm all go. Anything else, no thanks.

Round #2..

Perhaps someone should tell Tim iPhone SE was first released in 2016. "It was soo popular, we decided to re-do it again"

...for some reason. That could be evidence why Apple had that "on and off clearance.." on their website..

They wouldn't bring it back if it was dead.

A smaller thicker phone with the latest components and technical improvements is what I want.
ie With the latest improvements for CPU, ram, BT, wifi, battery, antennae design, speakers, cellular radio, etc (LCD screen is fine with me) all in a smaller but thicker package.
