So I guess you'll get a flip-phone?![]()
When my battery died in my Touch 6, I ended up getting an SE to replace my Touch and my flip phone (the Touch 7 wasn't out yet).
I have no problem at all returning to a flip phone and Touch when my SE dies.
So I guess you'll get a flip-phone?![]()
Not enough people want small phones...or they’d exist, period. For God's sake Apple, it's not the price, it's the size. Why won't they make a premium phone that you can operate with one hand, and that easily fits in a pocket?View attachment 866300iPhone 5Apple Ad - Fits in Your Hand
And I vote with my wallet - our household is still only using iPhone SE's and we have two backups still brand new in the box.
If it happens, people here will still find a way to complain.
SE fans should rejoice.

Well that's not surprising given that this proposed SE 2 is not in keeping with what the original SE was.
The dispute will be less controversy and easier to understand if sell the New SE with same form factor with a bigger screen size by shrinking the bezel rather than copying an iPhone 8 and package it with up to date technology from 2019.
I haven't done any market research, but as others have already stated, no one is manufacturing these smaller SE-sized phones.
Assuming they've done their market research, it must be showing them that there isn't enough demand for an SE-sized flagship phone to make it worth their time, so it must be too niche.
But on the other hand, Samsung makes all sorts of stuff, so I wonder why big Samsung doesn't just stake a claim to that niche? Unless most of those people are Apple fans?
I love my iPhone SE, but will likely go for this upgraded iPhone 8 eventually, as I want to stick with my Apple ecosystem.
It has always seemed a bit weird to me that Apple seems to assume buyers of small phones are looking for something other than a premium experience. Why not make something in a format similar to the existing SE, but with an edge-to-edge screen?
May this become the elusive iPhone 9???
Seems like a good choice for replacing the iPhone 8 in the lineup, akin to how the SE replaced the 5s in early 2016 during the 6s flagship years
But the iPhone 8 is much more “modern” tech wise than the 5s was at the time
They should base it on the 7 design. After the 5 era design, the 7 was the second best. Aluminium is so much better than glass for the back panel.
I don’t think Apple fans necessarily have smaller hands than Android fans, so I really don’t think those who want small phones are exclusive to iPhone.I haven't done any market research, but as others have already stated, no one is manufacturing these smaller SE-sized phones.

If there were 30 or 40 million of you, the SE2 would be a viable product.WHY!?! 4.7 INCHES?!? I use the SE because I don't want a gargantuan phone (plus, of course, the obvious higher quality of the SE compared to later iPhones). When will people get that the SE is not a "low cost" iPhone?
It's a 4" iPhone!
Keep it 4", bump the specs, charge $1000 for it, and I'll be all over it!

If Apple could make more money by offering an SE, they would do it. They are smarter and have more than your anecdotal data and have elected not to make it for very data driven reasons.
That could change and we will see if it does next year.
Until then, the market has spoken. Get over it.
