Only major issue I would have…. And if apple is reading I already sent an email.

Please let it make a stereo pair with a standard HomePod mini. We use all of our minis in pairs around my house, and this would be useful in the kitchen and at the front door, but 2 with screens within 5-8 feet of each other is pointless.

One screen for each of 2 eyes? 😉

With optional $2400 strap accessory, is this the “cheaper*” goggles? 😉

*cheaper in Apple Inc. terms meaning full price but you can buy one eye at a time… and then the headgear. But act quickly because version 2 won’t pair with version 1.😉

That’s a absolute no-go. Apple is probably testing something like this but I can’t see a product like this coming out any time soon.

Wait but ”not three separate devices“ was Steve’s speech lol. Inverse would be “not one combined device”. But this is one combined device, like the iPhone, but I’m betting it won’t be as popular.

I was working on the inverse of “these are NOT three separate devices!” as being “these are three separate devices!”. But I may be wrong?

And that thought was applied to Apple's strategy, not this particular rumoured device (which could turn out to be one of a family of devices).

Not true. For what people use smart speakers for Siri excels at in my opinion. I have Google Home hubs, Alexa devices and several HomePods. For controlling smart home devices Siri does better. For general info she is not so good.
This. What matters the most about the HomePod, at least to me, is good sound quality and AirPlay 2. I don't even bother speaking to Siri when I can simply use the Home app or choose playlists on my Mac or iPhone.

I don’t really see the point… just another phone accessory.

Sort of like the rumour of the iPad like home tablet… it’s just an iPad.

Maybe a combined Apple TV and speaker, like the Roku soundbar, but I doubt Apple would realistically go down that route.

At this point these rumours just seem to be Apple combining products (iPad, HomePod/Mini and Apple TV).

It kinda reminds me about what Steve Jobs said, all those years ago, about the netbooks.

Maybe for something like this? Magic Ball style! shake it.. let Apple tell you what music you should play.

Ah, yes! The "Magic 8 Ball" is what Siri uses to answer your questions and requests.

This could be interesting but I feel like it’s not an aTV on a HomePod but HomePod with some OS for extended functionalities …

Not happening. Kuo is getting wrong information or he is confusing this with a completely different product. What would be the point of a non-portable speaker with a screen — why wouldn’t you just use an iPhone or iPad, or Mac?
Especially the part about combining a 7” display with an Apple TV that is already connected to a >55” display.

Nothing “smart” about it. Never has been since the very first HomePod. And if the form factor pictured is correct, it’s sure to be a downgrade in audio quality.

I rely on Alexa for everything smart home… and the finest “assistant”, hands down.

While I get your line of thinking, there's also considerable value in having a non-portable device that is ALWAYS in the same location.

For instance you don't have to search for it or go get it from the kids who are using it another room - rather it's dependably in the same location, always ready for use.
