But why fold it lengthwise? It's still going the be the same length and not fit in your pocket. Fold it the other way and it will be shorter and might fit.
This idea has to be let go. There is no folding an iPad to put it in your pocket. Not only is that dumb, it just isn't possible.

There is absolutely no point to crippling an iPad with a folding feature just to make it smaller to move around. That's just insane.

If there is any utility to this at all, it will be in unfolding an iPad to make it even larger, which makes it more usable.

While some of us (mainly beyond 30’s) use iPad only to entertain kids, there is a whole new generation of young's that uses iPad very skilled, the workflow is far more limited but the tools exceed computers in some tasks, as templates and easy to do stuff is already half baked in mobile OS’s. And you dont have to be tied to a chair in that room of your home.

So light homework and on the go work is just enough and better than in laptops. (Though eventually, all need a laptop soon or later, the same why many mac users would need a windows computer some time ago for some random tasks)
You're describing a laptop too. Unless you're an artist using a stylus, I believe touch screens are more about content consumption rather than creation.

Maybe I don't fully understand your post, but for me the "issue" is that the MBA is still too big/heavy. I want a Mac "ultrabook" - 2 lbs, 12" or smaller. It seems that Apple is forcing us to choose iPad at that size and I don't like iPad.

and the iPad with keyboard is actually heavier than the MBA. I don't feel like they have an interest in going smaller than 13" for MBA. Nobody buys them.

Then why have it be foldable at all? And then why not just have a laptop? Whether you realize it or not, you're only making an argument for a laptop with a touchscreen. That's fine but I don't think Apple even wants this.

I don't think anyone wants any of them, to be quite frank.

Maybe lift some weights? I don't know what to tell you. This is ridiculous.

Your comment is ridiculous. There are tons of people who miss the 12" MB that was 2 lbs. Apparently you aren't one of them.
I promise you there are not "tons" of people who miss something with so little utility as a Mac with a 12" screen.

Something tells me that Ming Chi Kuo is starting to lose his grip on supply chain sources, given how his more recent predictions are centred around products that won't be released for another 2-3 years at least.
On Appletrack's Leaderboard, Ming is 8th, Jon Prosser's 9th. So....

LOL Mark Gurman being second is just...the guy no longer weighs in on anything until 2-3 days before it actually happens, at which point everyone already knows whats about to happen. Of course he's "accurate" when he's just repeating what has already leaked.

Rumored Kickstand; this would be huge if true, it's the only thing I wish Apple copied Microsoft on (besides a desktop OS). It just makes using a tablet so much more intuitive.

A selling point for the iPad has always been that it’s sized similarly to a pad of paper, folder, book or magazine. People carry these items in briefcases / backpacks and hold them in their hands with no issue. What is the user benefit to taking this size of a device and folding it in half?

Screen protection? I suppose that’s a valid thing, especially given a foldable screen will have a far easier to damage UTG with plastic screen protector.

Size / Weight reduction? Assuming the battery will be similar to existing iPads, weight will likely be similar, perhaps even heavier given the hinge mechanism. So you’re going to be carrying and holding a device that weighs similarly, even if it is smaller when folded.

I use my 12.9" M2 iPad Pro with Apple Pencil and Mac-continuity if I need keyboard and mouse.

A large 16" folding iPad could be good for quick laptop functionality, then switch to flat iPad for Pencil use.
