The way I figure it is this. With Apple, they and my carrier have access to my data. With Samsung, Google, Facebook, which cannot be deleted, Samsung and my carrrier have access to my data. That’s one of the main reasons I chose Apple. Am I naive to think this way?
Yep, we agree on that part. But also Samsung isn’t loosing money on its phone business, they’re just not that greedy as Apple and accept lower margins. Thanks for restating what I mentioned in my post.
They’re past that. 2017 was the year. 2019 is the year they also won the speed crown with everything better while still being able to deliver it cheaperS10 is a great phone but still has android...
Samsung needs to make the os like apple has,and that will take years.
What category they didn’t have? Smatphone category? Is this the first smartphone Samsung is releasing? Under what category those Galaxy/ A / J/ Note / M / S series phones been coming out? Kitchen appliences? How can a feature be removed from a product catagory that a company has never had on sale before?

And what’s with the phones PPI? 420 ppi for 2000$ ? That’s even worse than 5 year old S5 phone! Samsungs shameless money grabbing! Just buy iPhone for 3x less and better pixel density.
Doesn’t Samsung offer both? Why would you want a fingerprint sensor when you can have facial recognition that is more accurate and secure?
just giving you a hard time! I guess I just got into the habit of locking it after I look at it!Let me give you a real world example of how this could be an issue:
Let's say I'm on a first date (yes, that can happen even to non 'James Bond' people) I'm having a drink at the bar with her and after a few beers, I have my phone resting on the bar and it 'notices' my face so it's unlocked. Then I go to the restroom, and given that I've had a few beers, I forget that my phone could be unlocked. So while I'm away, she wants to see 'what kind of guy I am' and notices a text or two I may have sent to another potential date, or a text I sent to a friend about my expectations about this date with her ...
Yea, she shouldn't be looking at my phone for sure, but people are naturally curious so it's not like she's an evil person or something.
But bottom line, my privacy has been compromised, and she potentially sees something on my phone or texts she doesn't like, for whatever reason.
So basically, because I was a little careless, and she was a little curious ... our date is effectively ruined.
Why would you want a fingerprint sensor when you can have facial recognition that is more accurate and secure?
The adapter has usb and Lightening but not a head phone output so you need another adapter or or a different rig but the point is..with older iPad or iPhones its not a problem.Doesn’t The adapter output what you need?
Those spec sheets are old. From January 2019 the Samsung Galaxy S10 isn’t even listed yetYou don't need to "imagine" anything. The Anandtech link I posted has the accurate scores for the Snapdragon 855 vs the A12. There are also screenshots from A12 users in the comments section that show multicore scores that are much higher than what AI posted.
Here it is again:

Love your squirrel by the way. It looks adorable. The adapter has usb and Lightening but not a head phone output so you need another adapter or or a different rig but the point is..with older iPad or iPhones its not a problem.
Some of us would like the horsepower of the new iPads or iPhones for running synths and not have to bring
a bunch of adapters. So is it thousands of people that would like the headphone jack back or millions,
no idea but a lot of musicians, DJ's and performers.
There is so much creativity on the other side these days

I meant you were trying to be smart. Not at all, but we can be sure you clearly weren’t being smart. I guess that nano second you save and then receive no further benefit whatsoever from FaceID is critical.
Whatever.... the real world test showed different results. It’s whats happening in real life what matters for me.But the Snapdragon 855 performance is listed...so it's a moot point.
You’re right but wrongMy take on the debate between which is better, FaceID or TouchID. Neither is better than the other! It's all personal preference. My gosh how some people are so dense.
I was a big fan of TouchID when it came out. Then I had an iPhone X, used FaceID for a year, then got an XS MAX and still used FaceID for a few months. Then I sold it and got a Pixel 3 XL, and now back to TouchID. I prefer TouchID much more. Am I saying it's better? No, I am just saying I like it better. It's irrelevant why I like it better, and it's irrelevant why other's like FaceID better. We all like what we like, and to argue with someone over this saying you are right and I am wrong is crazy.
No. Samsung's face unlock is not secure.Doesn’t Samsung offer both?
So you are predicting that S10 series will sell 200 million units?I predict the S10 will overtake Apple’s volume this year. By the time Apple is releasing its incremental update in September/October. Samsung’s next flagship the Note will come out to deliver the knockout![]()
I hope Apple keeps the low end sweet and petite SE with the jack, fingerprint sensor, and updated internals. I would finally move on from my 6s. Otherwise, my 6s will just have to keep going as long as it can. If I have to leave iOS, I will. I still have at least a year or two.Might be a good reason to stick with Apple, I continue to keep my 6S because I like IOS and the eco system.
I don't think Apple's ego will ever let them reincorporate the fingerprint sensor (huge mistake on their part) and the audio jack … I fear, sadly gone forever.
I guess my post wasn't clear, I didn't say Samsung wasn't losing money on it's phone business, but I specifically called out their top tier phones like the ones that were released, which don't sell in enough numbers to make a profitable dent.Yep, we agree on that part. But also Samsung isn’t loosing money on its phone business, they’re just not that greedy as Apple and accept lower margins.
I wish Apple had not abandoned the fingerprint sensor. I am not against facial recognition, but I still want a fingerprint unlock.
EDIT: Oh yea, and Samsung still offers a traditional audio jack. Apple screwed up eliminating these two things.
