It still is when you’re using maps. At least over here. Imagine what would happen with a self driving car from Apple totally relying on Siri

I pretty much think self driving cars won't become a viable thing until after I'm dead. I'm convinced they're all a long way off, not only on the technology side, but also the public perception side.

Then again, I may die a lot sooner than I expect, so don't hold me to that.

You’re that old? I think we’re 5 years off. Not saying all cars will be self driving in 5 years, but there will be some driving around in 5 years.

What about if I told you that our planet is not round but a bumpy spheroid? :) :) would you try to listen to the other side? :)

You know what's so great about that joke ... it highlights the 'black or white' nature of some of these arguments. In fact, the earth isn't perfectly round, it's somewhat roundish with a bunch of complicated aspects to it's shape.

It's those 'shades of grey' that some here (either strongly for or against apple) can't seem to accept. Apple is far from as perfect as some of the supporters say it is. And, I'll reluctantly admit, they're probably not as flawed as some of us critics say it is.

Well, not to put a damper on the proceedings, but I have cancer.

Check your own rock.

1) China embellishes their economic numbers.
2) Several companies pointed to China slowing down in the 4th quarter last year. Goodyear, Caterpillar, Intel, Apple, etc.
3) China's actual GDP growth has slowed a lot by their standard, and again, are embellished.
4) China is using stimulus RIGHT NOW because of their slowing economy.

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/05/chi...g-on-tax-cuts-monetary-stimulus-in-china.html

When they say that China economy is slowing it means that it still grows but it now grows at 6% instead of 6.5% which makes the explanation for Apple underperformance in the last quarter in China to sound really bogus. Chinese consumers were supposed to buy "just" 6% more iPhones (as opposed of customary 6.5%) than the previous year instead the sales cratered.

I’m sorry BigBoy2018. Hope you’re doing well under the circumstances. Hope our discussions amuse you instead of annoying you. And I do hope you’ll experience self driving cars, without Siri ;)

No, I rather enjoy these back and forths! Thanks for the kind words, sir!

By all accounts I'll be around for quite a while longer to pester these apple sheep peoples :)

Nice to know :D I’ll check on you from time to time if you’re still on your mission ;)

I’m off to bed now. It’s past midnight over here and my alarm clock for work is almost about to ring again (hyperbolic). Have fun!

hello i7guy, what exactly is not true? The fact that Samsung's scanner is much better than OnePlus? Or that apple wasn't the first company with face id software?
What is true is that the under display fingerprint reader v2.0 is a better than v1.0. But it doesn't set new standards for innovation of a fingerprint reader. It's true Apple wan't the first company with facial recognition, but like touch id, their face id raised the bar.

Congratulations to you and apple for that! I'm sure you're both quite proud.

No ... wait, you had nothing to do with it. So just so I understand, why are you so proud of Apple then?

I don't know which version the new fingerprint reader is but I get the impression that it also raises the bar! For example it works with wet hands :) Have you tried it?

Are you suggesting that when driving saying "OK Google, navigate to X" is unsafe? Eyes never deviating from view of road ahead, hands staying in steering wheel???
Are you suggesting a car with a factory fitted voice operated navigation system is unsafe?
Do you condsider Car Play to be safe?
That's a straw-man argument, because no interaction while driving is safer than some interaction. And here's another one (straw-man). It should be pretty safe for pilots to land an aircraft while playing solitare? I mean, these big planes virtually fly themselves.

But that's not even the point that started this, as unlocking the phone is not a feature to be touted by anybody.

My old touch id on my 6s also worked with wet hands. Granted it wasn't under the display.:) Didn't work with gloves on though.

Then your 6S was a special snowflake because a friends 6S wouldn't unlock with wet hands, same for my 6 and 7 Plus.

I get the impression you haven't tried the new fingerprint scanner. Give it a try and let us know if it raises the standards :)

And my iphone will not work with wet hands :)
