The 'Pro' moniker is the Money-maker. That's a fact. Nobody clamors for the iPad Air or MacBook Air either. They get the Pro models regardless of how NOT pro they are. Some of these Posers are in this very forum.

- Not a Pro. Just a mediocre AASP Technician/Developer

Makes sense. Anybody pre-ordering to have one day one and be seen with it, does not want to be seen with the cheaper model.

I’ve got the 256 pro green coming Friday.

Or... the people who pre-order iPhones are generally enthusiasts who want the latest and greatest. These numbers will probably skew towards the standard 11 once it becomes primarily walk up customers making the purchase.

With sprint offering 700 trade in, and other carrier not lagging that behind in incentives, iPhone 11 should do pretty well, my x is plenty for me so I’m gonna hold out til next year

How is it debt if the payments are being taken from someone’s checking account? How is it debt when someone has the funds to pay for it in full, but would rather spread it out?

You think everyone who finances an iPhone is in debt? Also, the 11 is a nice upgrade from the XS. Is it night and day? No. But people can buy whatever they want, whenever they want.

I think you have a misconception and misunderstanding of this whole concept.

Your comment beat me to it. Archville you might want to Google "time value of money" if you think paying in full beats paying installments at 0%. And I do not mean any disrespect...
I do wonder what the future of iPhone looks like though. I’m sure they have a bunch of other stuff up their sleeve for the future.
In five years they will have a phone that is literally a 'single sheet of glass' as johny envisioned. Camera, sensors, all under glass. No notch, no chin, no punchouts. And it will be glorious.

What people say: WE WANT CHEAPER IPHONES!!!1111
What people do: buy the most expensive iphones
There is a phone call Vertu which is piece of junk ,people pay 15-20k for that useless phone I think iPhone prices are pretty fair

Wait, is this suggesting he makes this claim by assuming Apple makes an equal number of every phone, color, and capacity and then extrapolating based on delivery estimate dates?...I would hope this report is based more on sources within, if not Apple, phone carriers.

The 11 Pro is worth the extra few hundred bucks for the OLED screen, more upscale look/feel and zoom lens, to many people. The 11 is a great deal otherwise - I bet the $749 128GB model is going to be the sweet spot for most shoppers.

55% of 100 is still 55. Without knowing actual sales numbers (which they don't announce anymore) then we know nothing outside of speculation and extrapolation.

Very veryvery diffi to believe that 11 will outsell 10! Without numbers these percentages means nothing. But with all these 11 family sells more then Apple is a dream mechantm indeed!!

But for $1000-$1500 there are far better options.... available

Two year old 8 plus owner here. At this age I used to be itching for an upgrade, but I still see absolutely nothing to make me want to change. I love the 8 plus, the battery is still great, I have a true home button with fingerprint sensor which I love, and I also have 3D Touch which I use.

I think this year’s iPhone will sell very well. As will next year. And possible the year after that...

I do wonder what the future of iPhone looks like though. I’m sure they have a bunch of other stuff up their sleeve for the future.
I really believe the long term future of iPhones will be AR Glasses. Like most major changes, it won't happen all at once. The first generation of AR Glasses may be just be wireless, heads up display and microphone (and maybe camera) for an iPhone. But over time, the AR Glasses will become stand alone devices just like Apple Watch started out as an extension of an iPhone before maturing into a stand alone product. Early adopters will welcome the move to "wearing" their iPhone rather than carrying it while other people will need a lot more time to get used to the change but eventually handheld smart phones will follow the trajectory of vinyl records and flip phones. They won't totally disappear but they will be limited to niche markets.

Yikes! The Pro is outselling the lower priced model? People do like their cameras and Paris Green.

the combined Pro/Max, yes. I think a a lot of sales have to do with people on the IUP. Those people are going to most likely be on the Pro/Max train.

because everyone who wanted an XR, bought one last year

That's not it.
The people who obsess over Apple product timing, and wait up all night to pre-order are the people who want the best Apple sells. This is not a surprise.
Normal people, who will hear sometime in the next month that there is a new iPhone, then decide a month or two later "hmm, my phone is three years old, maybe I should think about a new one" are the target market for the 11...

EVERY DAMN YEAR we have this same phenomenon, since at least the iPhone 5C!
The week after the announcements, the initial data say that the "high end phone" is the big seller.
Pundits insist the "mid-range" phone was a stupid idea that will fail miserably.
And six months to a year later it turns out that, no, the mid-range phone was pretty popular.

But don't let history and common sense ruin the pundit "Apple is doomed"-fest. Go right ahead, partying like it's 1997.

Seriously. It's $60 a month on the iPhone Upgrade Program. That's not exactly an Earth shattering amount.

I think Apple's big reveal will be next year with the 5G. That's a feature that is not yet 'real' for most people, but rather an imagined one. People hear '5G' and instantly decide they've gotta have it. It will take a while for that feature to be beneficial to the masses.
