I am really surprised we are getting a 5g phone since most of the country does not yet have access to 5g service. Nor have the carriers done a good job educating consumers on what 5g is.

Selling an electronic device that has a rechargeable battery but without the charger to charge the device is like selling a car without wheels.

Very dumb indeed.

first of all you're commenting on a rumor - keep that in mind. secondly, dumb companies usually aren't worth nearly what apple is. go figure.

i'm not 100% sure, but i don't think that was the case in the u.s. 's pricing in some other countries is a bit odd sometimes.

I think prices actually dropped for you guys by $50 from the XS to the 11 Pro on some models. The base model may have remained unchanged.

Yes it will and due to 5G Apple are clearly removing these to keep prices the same

Samsung and other 5G phones include fast chargers in the box. Apple has no excuse.

i don't remember seeing that, but i also skipped the 2019 phones altogether. i'll be onboard with a $50 drop for the 2020 model though. :)

Go for it Apple. I don't mind $50 smaller price or better tech instead of things I don't need. Reason being I have several EarPods & power adapters laying around already.

Talking about Apple here. They won’t drop the price and will probably increase it instead.

You’re seriously telling me a $1200+ phone does not include a god damn charger in the box? The headphones are annoying, this is just genuinely outrageous.

This would be a very tone deaf move. I have several friends and family who feel Apple is overpriced and nickel and diming their customers.

Some have switched already to Android. For others, this would be the final straw.

this is so strange to hear. sure, apple is not cheap at all, but i invest in them for their software as much as the hardware. i don't know what they would need to do in order for me to even consider an android. of course if you don't care and are looking for a cheaper phone, well there are many many options for you.

Maybe they’ll save on shipping. I expect an iPhone with only a lightning cable to be in a much thinner box. Probably two phones for every one compared to previous iPhone packaging.

Can you imagine opening up a brand new phone that you paid over $1,000 for, only to find that you have to make a trip to Walmart to pickup a charger so you can actually use it?

Imagine no more!

I agree with you — I’d rather go back to a dumb phone than give my life over to Google to datamine, but I think we’re in the minority (maybe not on this site, but in the general population).

Take my mother-in-law for example. She has the money for an iPhone, but for someone who only sends text messages, plays a couple simple games, and watches videos, she compares a cheap Android she can get for free (with a contract renewal) to an iPhone for $400-800 and doesn’t think twice.

Even my buddy who is in his early 30s and a doctor is tempted — he’s been put off by the iPhone price increases. Even though he can (obviously) afford it, it’s become a question of principle for him. Not including a charger will probably be enough for him to jump ship.

The iPhone box has a lightning to usb (a? C? Who knows) cable. So any old android charger should work if it has the right kind of USB port.
I guess you missed the part about paying well over a grant for Apple to screw its customers over a $20 item.

I've never bought a phone OR device that doesn't include the power cord in the box.

it is funny to see so many outraged over a nothing burger.
I guess next time you want to throw away $20, feel free to Zell it to me, kay?

in any of the other forty chargers we allalready have. Some whiney people here.
Yawn, typical fanboy response. I've never bought a device that didn't include the charger.

The battery on the other hand...... wait I take that back I don't want to give Apple any ideas.
