120hz display and better battery is very important.

My iPhone Xs Max contract just ended and I ordered a 12 Pro Max due to be shipped in 2 weeks,I wonder if I should cancel that ,keep using the Xs Max and wait for the 13?

it will feel horrible in 5-6 months when 120hz iPhones are out if I had to par gor and use another 60hz phone for another 2 years.
Keep using your Xs Max. You’ll regret it if you upgrade now.

Why does one need 120Hz display on their iPhone?
Because it makes the phone feel extremely smooth, once you experience it,you can’t go back.
Also has advantages for gaming but I don’t game on phone so can’t go into details.

Still the same narcissistic selfies will be coming out of the 2021, 2022, 2023 iPhones. If the pandemic has thought me one thing, at the end of the day, nothing really matters. I rarely take pictures of myself, in fact, I do take pictures, but just like when I used a digital camera. I made barbecue chicken with rice and peas, steam veggies and potato salad. I was really proud of the work, so I took a picture of it. Did I post it on social media? No, I was just pleased with the outcome and use it as a future motivation for a Sunday meal I might want to make in the future.

The aspirations of what Apple tries to present these devices as capable of doing, is in some sense inspiring in the moment. Yes, you can actually record a motion picture on the back of the van in the desert. Like seriously, how many of us are willing to do this? Is it more the sense of, it is possible, a conversation piece at the watercooler or conference (like those will be happening anytime soon). I saw a cashier at 7/11 with an iPhone 12 Pro Max silver bored af just waiting for a customer to come in and buy something. That guys life didn't change because he had an iPhone 12 Pro Max. Neither the petite lady on the bus I saw struggling to keep hers in hand while she swiped through IG.

In contrast, I recorded my friends wedding on my iPhone 6s back in 2016 and it was just in January that I got around to editing it; and it turned out quite well. I'm sure the X and 12 Pro would have given it motion picture quality. But, the 6s did tell a story of a beautiful day and there was nothing about it that would make me say, gosh, I wish this was better.

With what the world has become, I honestly don't feel motivated by the tech anymore, especially mobile tech. Sure, I will get the new iPhone in 2023 because it will be long overdue. Personally, I'm looking forward to the 32 inch iMac with Face ID. Its gonna be a practical device for me working from home in the coming years. I can use it to stream Netflix, HBO Max and get work done from 9 to 5. I think even Apple is not as enthused about the iPhone as they use to be. If you look at the renewal of the Mac, that's where I think the fun is now.

For a computer that's practically no different from the Intel predecessor I bought in 2015, it still feels like a lot more interesting psychologically. I guess its because of my affection for technical stuff like the processor and what they were able to do to bring the software forward from its ancestry in NeXT Step to what is today; one of the most dominant and influential platforms in computing. Ok, enough, go to bed.

Actually, he mentioned it but it’s not reported here. He said that he hasn’t any visibility of this.
odd really as he has flip flopped as only last year he said it was coming...thats why this early reports shouldn't be taking that seriously.

Even the Apple Watch which I own is limited.

It's not a solution for Apple Pay.
If you have an Apple Watch then aren't you using that for Apple Pay anyway instead of your iPhone? I guess if you are using it on a website or the App Store it wouldn't work, but at least for me whenever I purchase something that way I'm at home and don't have a mask on anyway! :)

This, until iPhone goes 120hz I'm using a Samsung device atm. The base models use 120hz but only 1080p (FHD) screens. The S21 Ultra (I have this) has a QHD screen that can do 120hz.

If anything my main concern for the upcoming iPhone is who is fabricating the 120hz screens. I believe other companies like OnePlus used the crummy lower-end Samsung Panels and ended up with weird green tints. However, my hope is Apple/Samsung strike a deal for the current S21 Ultra panels, as it is easily the most color calibrated, potentially brightest, and smoothest screen I've seen to date.

Either way, this news excites me as a tech enthusiast. Just please keep up the good fight and don't allow them to get rid of the charging port! I use wireless charging at night, but sometimes I need a battery pack during the day as a power user.

120hz is nice, I have it on my iPad Pro, but it would in no way convince me to switch to Android or anything developed by Google.

I agree, a charging port is absolutely necessary in the near future. There are just too many use cases that support against going wireless. I just got a new car, and the infotainment system allows CarPlay, but only while wired, etc..

14.5million units in 2020. Not far off the Pro Max, maybe they should discontinue that too...

My point exactly! I have 4 iPhone 12 mini’s in my household and we are all huge fans. So easy to handle. Just have to be mindful of your battery coming from anything more recent than the iPhone XS.

While there's always exceptions, for those who have used a larger screen, there's no turning back to a smaller one unless budget is the primary driving force.

If Apple removes the Lightning port from future iPhones, the iPhone will no longer support CarPlay.

Apple's Solution is to buy an Apple Watch!
How about a fingerprint sensor. This mask and Face ID is a PITA.
I know they do indeed suggest an Apple Watch.
Yes, buy our $200-350 and up special iPhone Unlocker (tm).
<face-palm>
When I spoke on the phone a little while back with an Apple rep, about the difficulty I anticipated to unlock my new Home-less iPhone while on my bicycle, he suggested an Apple Watch. (My previous iPhone 6 with Home button at least gave me something to push with one finger, which I could do while riding. (My phone is on a handlebar mount bracket.)
Now with the new Face-ID or Swipe-up pass-code it is more of a challenge to unlock while riding.

Even so, according to an article at iMore, (Feb 2, 2021),:
"The feature lets your Apple Watch automatically unlock your iPhone when certain conditions are met, including:
- Face ID on your iPhone detects that you are wearing a mask
- Your Apple Watch is nearby, on your wrist, unlocked, and has a passcode enabled."
- And will be available with iOS 14.5 due out in Spring 2021.

Sadly, my budget does not allow for a $200-350+ iPhone Unlocker.

And, since I don't have an Apple Watch, I don't know how long a Watch stays unlocked before it too goes to sleep, which would then require yet more human touch interaction to wake up the Watch, and thus be able to have it then wake up the iPhone touch-less...

I do wish they'd put the same kinda fingerprint reader they added to the iPad, and put it on the iPhone.

Your comment is fully false. I've used a bigger screen(7+. Budget was not the primary driving force. And my family couldn't be happier.

Same, I went from a Note to the original SE. Then again, from an X to an XS, and back again to the Mini.

I have an XS Max, and have to admit after seeing and handling other people’s SE, I kind of want a smaller phone now.
